Hey everybody, I have Sonoma booted up and running on my MacBook Air 6,2, but I can't get it to post install root patch. I'm running OCLP 0.6.9 from the sonoma-development branch, but when I try to root patch I get stopped at: - PatcherSupportPkg resources missing, Patcher likely corrupted!!!

The whole terminal output is:

I updated OC beta 0.6.9 then installed Sonoma on MBP mid 2012 over Monterey

So far everything works, the only bug is the delay in the live wallpaper when unlocking the Mac, and most of the widgets don't work 100%, something that already occurred on the Ventura.

The system is very responsive

The 14.1 beta OTA update killed my MM7,1 running 14.0 final using 0.6.9n. It gets to the Apple boot screen but never proceeds from there. PRAM reset does not fix the problem.

Solved my own problem. I tried to build the binary, it failed, but it downloaded some payloads.dmg file. After that was there I was able to root patch by running the app from python. I'm up and seemingly working fine on this old MacBook 6,2.

I believe all of my screen flickering problems mysteriously vanished. I re-instaled oclp 0.6.9 a few times from the nightly. I'm up running 14.1 on this 13,1 and it's running very well. I believe there's a goofy wallpaper/screensaver issue. Running with only 8G could also be a reason for random beachballs.

has anyone tried to install on 2016 MacBook Retina (MacBook 9,1)? I think I am out of luck but seeing some other ppl with older MacBooks, maybe I have a chance?

Thanks,

Can't help you, but I wanted to let you know how disappointed I am that you grabbed that user name before I did.

Ok, seriously. Have you tried using a prebuilt version of OCLP 0.6.9 sonoma-development instead of building yourself?

😂

I fixed it, but I honestly didn't realize there was a pre-built for the sonoma branch. That would've definitely fixed it since it would've undoubtedly had that dmg file included. Are the pre-builts in some glaringly obvious location that my ADHD brain overlooked?

I updated to the new public beta, it booted normally, applied OpenCore patch (that I downloaded yesterday I think) and after restart it freezes after entering password on login display.

Any idea on how to boot into safe mode to apply the new version of the patch?

P.S: MacBookPro14,3 (2017 15” touchbar)

P.P.S: I tried booting from the USB from which I initially installed Sonoma to update it and revert the problematic files, as a solution I found for this same problem in a post about Ventura, but when I select the destination hard drive is says that the "volume cannot be downgraded". I don't have another Mac to create a new updated installation USB. I think it would be easy to just login somehow to try the last Open Core patcher... but how? I think safe mode doesn't work on open core (just hold shift and enter at the boot menu?) ?

Hold down the Option key to bring up the Boot picker, and then after hitting the EFI icon, "Hold down the Shift key as you click on the Startup Drive's icon". I believe that is the normal way to get the Safe mode boot.

It boots as fast as normally and freezes after login; I don’t think it is booting into safe mode.

I have tried holding left shift key while clicking on the startup drive as well as holding it while pressing the enter key. Am I missing something?

Hello, to inform
I've been testing Sonoma with 6,9 beta for 2 days. the speed is very good but I found 2 problems:
2 crashes of my screen (NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M 512 MB)
Capture d’écran 2023-09-28 à 19.37.19.png

- impossible to use my IDE. the compiler/debugger don't work. ( correct on my M1).

With my Macbook Pro 13.2 everything works very well except for the T1, Netflix etc in Safari also runs normally.

But what I noticed was that when the Macbook was asleep for a long period of time and I then opened it, it was off and booting even though I hadn't shut it down.

Does anyone happen to know why this is, that wasn't the case with Ventura.

I was finally able to grab yesterday's nightly, and restore functionality to my 13" rMBP I've set up as my Sonoma test machine. I also used a different link today provided on this forum which had a more current version than the one I had been using, so maybe I'll be able to download newer later today if there is a nightly for today.
The other thing I did was drag the preliminary support and the nightly links from the browser to the desktop, so now i have two files I can double click to get there easier.

I have noted since a few beta builds back, keychain creates GBs of dummy files in the keychain folder. So far, I found out I can delete them completely. Anyone else has noted this issue? Usually the keychain folder is only a few MB big. Nowadays up to 16GB and more.
However it does not seem related to Sonoma or OCLP.

Any ideas?

Greetings All,
I have a 2017 27 “ i7 4.2 ghz iMac with a 2TB internal PCIe Main SSD running natively Monterrey/Ventura separate volumes and a 2TB internal SATA SSD.

Will it be possible once official OCLP 1.0 is released to install and dual boot Sonoma on the secondary SATA SSD without affecting my main native boot PCIe drive?

Or will installing OCLP negatively affect the NVram/boot of my native boot drive?

Yes, should work and many people are doing such things here.
Just read the documentation and proceed with caution in order to avoid potential mistakes and dataloss.
Good luck.

It's easy to bypass OC when booting the system by holding the Option (alt) key and selecting the internal SSD instead of the EFI partition. The computer will remember this choice until the next time you boot with the Option key and select another one.

EDIT: Read this before attempting an upgrade to 14.1

Reading posts here and on Discord, the theme with 14.1 Beta is fairly clear... do your 14.1 Beta testing in a Volume that you can afford to lose and be prepared to bork your 14.1 install if you apply OCLP post-install patches. Most reports I see show that 14.1 Beta "works" until post-install patches are applied. Do yourself a favor and don't test 14.1 with post-install patches unless you're prepared to re-install.

EDIT: Depending on your SMBIOS model, without post-install patches, 14.1 will operate without graphics acceleration and without Wi-Fi.
