rMBP10,1 2012 updated from Sequoia 15.2 + OCLP 2.2.0 to 15.3 + 2.2.0
Same rMBP10,1 2012 from Sonoma to Sequoia 15.3 here.
Safari has crashed a few times so far, hopefully something that will settle down and stop.
Not something you are seeing?

Edit: I ran Onyx and it appears to have helped.

Maybe we can go to and stay on Sequoia now, delete the Sonoma partitions and Sequoia will possibly
be the last , or last but one MacOS to ever run on our legacy Macs, but we shall see ;)

Not sure if this will help with stability, but I find that running Onyx (latest) maintenance helps clean out prior OS residue and things seem better at least for me (does reboot with the process) -

Hello everyone.

Before macOS15.0, I used to update via OTA, but since then, I have been updating with the macOS installer downloaded from OCLP and installed on a USB memory.
This seems to cause fewer problems.

(1) I updated my Mac (MBP 15'retina late 2013, Kepler 11,3, macOS 15.2, OCLP 2.2.0) to 15.3(24D60).
It went smoothly, and the root patch was removed at the first login, so WiFi and UI transparency were lost,
but OCLP automatically detected the patch, so I installed this patch.

(2) After rebooting, WiFi and UI transparency worked normally, and I installed the post-root-patch again through WiFi.
A large number of packages (including Metallib15.3-24D60) were installed, so I rebooted again.

(3) Then, a beautiful login window and a normal desktop were displayed.

This time, the update was very smooth.

Thanks to the OCLP developers!!

I need a developer or someone responsible for OCLP. My late 2015 iMac is having nothing but issues with OCLP a New Problem for OCLP? Sorry for my Bad english and when the Post is in a Wrong Section!

Hello everyone, I’m new here and at my wit’s end.

I collect and restore Apple computers. I upgrade them as much as possible and install the appropriate macOS using OpenCore to keep them usable today.

Specifically, I’m working on an iMac Late 2015 (Model 16,2) with 16 GB RAM. I have two SSDs installed: a standard SATA SSD and another one in the M.2 slot via an adapter. The M.2 SSD is recognized, and everything seems normal so far. Since the iMac natively supports macOS Monterey, I wanted to install Sequoia 15.3 or 15.2. I’ve successfully installed 15.2 on multiple older Macs without any issues.

The Problem:
The installation does not work reliably on this iMac. Normally, my process is:

Download macOS through the app,

prepare a USB stick,

boot from the USB stick,

format the target drive in the Recovery menu, and start the installation.

This has always worked flawlessly – except on this iMac. Either the installation does not start automatically, or it gets stuck. By forcing multiple restarts, I can eventually get macOS 15.2 installed, but if I unplug the iMac for an extended period, it refuses to boot from the M.2 SSD or freezes.

If I install macOS on the SATA SSD, it runs fine, but this whole behavior still seems odd.

Possible Causes?
Is this a bug?

Are additional OpenCore settings required?

OpenCore is set up correctly, and NVMe support is enabled.

After a crash, I only get the standard error message ("Your computer restarted because of a problem"), but no crash logs appear in the macOS Console. but a Panic? (https://pastebin.com/raw/zHVth22g)

Interestingly, Monterey runs without issues, both during installation and in daily use. I’ve thoroughly checked the hardware:
✔ Apple diagnostics show no issues
✔ Both SSDs are new
✔ Thermal paste and PRAM battery have been replaced and tested
✔ PRAM reset performed

A hardware defect is therefore highly unlikely. The issue seems to be related to OpenCore or Sequoia.

Additional Observations:
When booting Sequoia from the USB stick, the progress bar freezes, and all USB ports seem to turn off (mouse lighting goes dark).

I have to press the power button three times before the installer finally loads into Recovery Mode.

During installation (when about 10 minutes remain), the iMac should restart multiple times to continue setup but freezes instead.

I have to manually intervene to get the installation to complete.

Has anyone experienced similar issues or found a solution? 🤔

Just confirming I've had no safari crashes here so far.
I only keep a single macOS version partition on the 10,1 at present.

Hey guys, just thought I would toss this question out to anyone who might have experienced this. I updated my Sequoia install USB from 15.2 to 15.3 and when selecting it through the Open core boot loader, it still gave me the prohibited sign. This was on an iMac 17,1. I am remaking the installer now but first completely erased in Disk Utility first vs just letting OCLP update it. Still wanted to let people know this happened to see if it was also a known issue of 15.3 and OCLP 2.2.0, and if I need to wait for an OCLP update. Thanks.

OK, just an update to my previous post. I completely erased the usb drive with Disk utility by selecting the root device e.g. the drive brand name itself, not the volume, did a clean format of HFS+ with GPT, ran create macOS installer in OCLP 2.2.0 to create an installer of 15.3. The process was successful, and Open core boot loader even installed to the usb drive without issues. When booting holding option, I select the open core icon that has the USB icon next to it, get the prohibited sign with the apple support link below it as if Open core wasn't even there, and I was trying to boot Sequoia directly. So, looks like I can't try 15.3 on this iMac 17,1. I had created a third APFS volume to install it to, as well so it would be separated from the supported installs. Usually I don't have issues with this iMac, so this is strange. Anyway, just passing on the info and experience.

UPDATE: Well disregard everything in these two posts. I forgot to disable allow native models in OCLP after doing some testing. Doing so and reinstalling the boot loader to the USB resolved the issue. Sequoia is now installed on it's own APFS volume.
