one question though, I have a MacBookPro11,4 - running FINE with 15.2, a new very fast SHGP31-500GM nvme drive.

through software update my system was without my knowledge updated in the background to 15.3, now it asks for a reboot.
what to do exactly? OCLP is at 2.2.0, there seems to be a nightly version update, but how to revert to 15.2 or make a SAFE update to 15.3? I have some fear to reboot and find my system unbootable.
it is my daily production system!
shall I make a bootable usb-stick from the installer and reboot? but what then? patching the 15.3 system with all root patches?
Thanks for your suggestions, saxfun :)

15.3 should work fine with OCLP 2.2.0, which means that the computer should just finish the installation and lest you reinstall the post installation patches when it finishes. But it is of course preferable to have backups available if things happen to go sour.

I have the same machine - it is a rugged machine; it takes a lot to render it unusable. Go ahead and reboot. If, for some reason, it hangs, don't be alarmed. Simply restart in Safe Mode, and it will complete the installation and then, you can continue to boot patching. It has happened to me before though on 15.2, not 15.3. I am running 15.3/2.2.0 now, and I did use Safe Mode, but no USB installer. As I noted in an earlier post, updating has become routine and lacking in drama.

Hello all!

I keep getting an Apple Pages/Keynote/Numbers crash every time I try to edit a document draw a shape or insert a line or customise objects on any (new included) document/presentation/etc.

This is happening on all my machines / MBPlate'14, Minilate'14, iMac15.1mid'14 after fresh OCLP install. NOW with Sequoia 15.3. Tried all tricks I knew including root patch revert. I need the iWorks suite for my daily work and cannot replace it with MS Office which I'm barely accustomed ...

This is the main reason on the crash report:
System Integrity Protection: enabled
Crashed Thread: 3 Dispatch queue: com.apple.iwork.TSDBrushStrokeMetalShaderQueue
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x000070000a8c2b62
Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000001, 0x000070000a8c2b62 ..
(I saved the whole report for further details if needed)

Has any of you encountered the same issue /problem and happily found a fix?
Would appreciate any possible advice (sound guessing excluded, pls)

thanks in advance!

Installed Sequoia (OLCP 2.02) on my Mac Pro 2013 (fresh install via USB) yesterday. Everythings works fine except of Filevault (internal error) and icons show up no more on the desktop after I tried to enable Filevault.
Just in case anyone else is running into the same problems. Narrowed it down to the Timetec blade. Once I replaced it with a Samsung NVMe everything runs fine. Reproduced the problems with the Timetec blade and Macbook Air 2017 and Mac Mini 2014.

If you care about the Timetec and want to use it with OCLP, there are settings in OCLP settings/extras that might be worth experimenting with for 3d party SSD:s. Good luck.

On all machines with the same user or all machines with the same document? Is the document stored in the cloud?

Could be useful in this section your findings if you haven’t posted in this section before.

Check houser comment too .

Mac Mini mid-2012 running OCLP Sequoia 15.2. It has 16GB RAM and dual 1tB SSD.
The TV app keeps crashing.
Does anybody have an idea of a fix apart from booting Catalina?
Hello MyCanal, Netflix an appleTV works fine on my iMac 2012 with sequoia 15.0. Perhaps a problem with the graphic card.

I tested numbers without problems. If you create a new file, is it the same issue. So If you don't want microsoft office, try with onlyoffice to libreoffice.

I just installed Sequoia 15.3 beta on my 2015 MacBook yesterday. Surprisingly, this OS has been running very well on this little laptop. I'm using this MacBook strictly for web browsing and emails so it should be okay for my use case. Also, the butterfly keyboard this laptop has does not bother me nearly as much as I thought it would.

No problem here after test drawing square, triangle and line in new Pages document and saving/opening it locally. On MacMini 2014 (in signature). Also tested with existing document in iCloud and same result.

Concur with your findings, cannot duplicate the problem here. But I did notice that SIP was enabled on the crashing Macs. 🤷‍♂️

Hm. I might be missing something, but those red crosses do not mean sip is enabled but the opposite. Perhaps this is after you changed it?
If not, type
Code:
csrutil status
in terminal. That should tell you the state of that.

The first line of the crash report indicates the source of the problem. Not a guess, disable SIP. 🙅‍♂️

Hey all,
Since I keep my USB installers updated anyway to the latest OCLP, and macOS release(s) currently out. Will updating via the USB method eliminate the update booting without root patches installed ? Doing an update through software update always undoes the root patches resulting in a very slow system. Since doing a clean install from USB automatically installs them, will also doing an update via USB automatically re-apply them? I will switch to the USB method for updates if this is the case.

Thanks.

OK, so, seems like updating from a USB installer created by OCLP vs the OTA update eliminates the reboot with no root patches installed. I updated from 15.3 to 15.3.1 via USB and root patches were in place when done. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Monterey is my main install as it's the latest supported OS, and Open Core is installed on the SSD part of the Fusion drive, and then Sequoia and Sonoma are installed on their own APFS volume shared with the main "Macintosh HD" volume. Then I have Linux installed on a 4TB My Passport. I also have Mojave installed on a 3rd APFS Volume for 32-bit compatibility for mac native stuff. I've managed to get the dual boot setup to work nicely without random issues now. Once everything got setup, it's stayed reliable for now.

Has anyone here gotten compatibility layers for gaming to work under newer versions of macOS installed by Open Core. In my case and observations macOS kind of seems to such for cross platform gaming compared to Linux because it seems like some things just don't work the same way under macOS. So thought i would ask to see if anyone here has been able to use Open core to install a newer version of macOS and get a decent gaming setup on an older intel Mac that can still run 32 bit code.

EDIT: here are a couple examples of what I mean. I use the Heroic Game Launcher for Linux, and macOS. a good number of games from GOG work under macOS. However, newer games I got free through Prime Gaming that use DX11, doesn't always work right via wine on macOS, but work as expected under Linux and the same software. The only difference seems to be, Linux can use Vulkan to replace DX11 while macOS can't. So I was wondering if open core and newer versions of macOS with gaming features built in can be made to use Vulkan. I'm looking for someone who can help me with the more unique uses I have for my mac.
