Hi Guys I posted a year ago and didn't get anything - I've tried lot of things but still struggling. 2017 MacBook retina.

If I close the lid it stays on I can see the display light when its closed and it stays on until battery dies.

If I click sleep - it sleeps and I then close the closing wakes it again!

If I do the above but wait longer than 10 seconds it stays off.

Please help I'm pulling my hair out I just want to close it and it to sleep or hibernate like it used to.

Thanks

Have you tried erasing the internal SSD and doing a clean install of the last supported macOS version for your model, then updating to the latest GA, Sequoia (15.7.2), from there? It sounds to me weird enough to be a local problem.

Try resetting the NVRAM. (Reboot, hold down Command - Option - P - R after the reboot chime until it chimes again.) It worked for me. Going to Sleep after closing the lid seems to take about a minute or a minute and a half. Feels like a long time while you're waiting.

I replied to myself, My macOS is 15.7.1, so I update with 15.7.2 and I stop it. So it was possible to apply post install without error.

Are these OCLP logs normal (in /Users/Shared), after every reboot...? Why No metallibs found for 25B78 (i.e., Tahoe: never tried to install it on this Mac)...? MBP11,3, MacOS 15.7.2, OCLP 2.4.1...

It looks like there’s a 26.1 staged update, but I have automatic updates, etc. disabled: strange…

But should it really be there…? If there’s nothing out of the ordinary, why this log? Anyway, nothing serious…

Edit: Just discovered that automatic OS updates had been re-enabled (maybe after the 15.7.2 update): so, disabled them again, and hopefully problem solved.

Edit: OK, now no logs anymore after rebooting…

Maybe this thread by Mr. Macintosh will help you:

interestingly anyone use Apple Pay? might have been a while ago I used it but now doesn't work on 15.7.3 , says you also "can't add cards on this Mac"

Yes, it is always auto re-enabled when updating the OS, so we need remember to switch this off after every update to avoid the staged update issues.
That's not always true (re-enabled). Once I disabled the settings for auto updates of the OS, they've stayed disabled cross updates. It seems like people have different results some like me that the settings stay set as desired, and others get reset by Apple.

Well, this saved me, thanks.
I noticed the white desktop-picture and slowness on my wife's mbp9,2.
So I tried to re-apply the root patches - which failed due to "mismatch : found 26.1; cannot continue patching!!! ensure that you do not have any updates pending..."
It seemed the Tahoe installer was already staged, I then used the "purgePendingUpdate" tool which dhinak posted on the oclp discord.
It gave the "purge failed... message" but after that i could successfully re-apply the root patches. reboot. all is well.

Strange, that in system settings the auto updates were already disabled and still... 🤷‍♂️

You're welcome :) I'm still considering Rolling the host back to Monterey, and putting Sonoma in a VM for the newer stuff. However, since things are stable, I've left it alone for now.

Is this a bug, or has Apple changed things? I went back to Monterey on my iMac after considering sticking with Sequoia, and open core because I found that I have more that would benefit from the older supported OS over the newer unsupported, and now I can't download the pro apps anymore from the app store. Now it says they require 15.6. I used to be able to download a compatible version from my purchases. Logic Pro downloaded a compatible version, as did iWork, iMovie, and Mainstage, etc but FCP, Motion, and Compressor will not download compatible versions like they used to.

Have you tried to go via "Your Name">My Apps?: The list of all apps you ever have bought or downloaded?
Well, I found the pro apps compatible with Monterey in my time Machine backup and copied them to /Applications and they seem to run as expected. I installed the supplementary updates with software update after copying them, so I guess that's all I had to do to get them back.

Edit: When installing from the App store, does anything else get installed besides the app? I didn't see anything extra when checking the TM backup vs what was created after running the app(s) for the first time, and installing the pro video formats and additional content from software update.

Hi,
recently I converted my 2015 macbook pro to run on Sequoia 15.7.2. It worked very well. After using it for a few days I deleted excess files from ~/library/caches ( I have done this before on supported macbooks). Then I powered it down and rebooted. Upon rebooting I can't get the wallpaper displayed and the graphic display slowing down and it seems there is no graphic acceleration. The whole system is slowing down.
Does anyone know how to fix it without reinstalling Sequoia?

Thanks in advance., my knowledge is sufficient for me to install OCLP and run the OS Sequoia.

Sounds like the root patches are gone. I recommend opening Open Core Legacy Patcher and click "Post-Install Root Patch"

So, Everything is as it should be now. Here is why I decided to go back to Monterey, even though Sequoia was running OK.
Mainly for better legacy support. I have a 2.5G USB Ethernet adapter that doesn't work correctly under Sequoia as Apple removed the drives from questions I had asked about a while back here. So, instead of playing a cat and mouse game, It's easier just to pick what works and stay there until forced to get a new Mac. The other thing is, the desktop Facebook Messenger app is being discontinued in December, so I'll no longer need a newer version of macOS to run it without glitching.

I have a confession to make, I'm the type of person who loads apps on the computer thinking I'll use them at some point, and usually never do. So eliminating a lot of those apps, everything that matters, is still supported by Monterey, and slightly older.
