The bug is some selections not being selectable by mouse click, instead needing to be selected then confirmed by Return button, and sometimes not working at all....the only way to get out is to Force Quit from System Preferences.
Exactly what I have been experiencing....I thought this problem was something broken on my system - glad I'm not alone! I have reported it twice, so hopefully resolved soon.

This problem now seems to have been resolved with the latest beta.

I hope Apple can finish this version in time. It's kind of obvious that they're facing iCloud-related issues, and we're very close to launch day. Maybe they will release the previous version and this new Beta 6 as 10.15.1.

I would say the problem is related to macOS and iOS file synchronization in this new Catalyst reality.

I just got to work and all my s**t is gone from icloud. pretty unsettling. I still can't get finder to pull it down from icloud. I've tried rebooting and still nothing. The "recovered files" directory is also missing about 95% of the data, so that's great.

edit: after a few reboots my drive started syncing again. I had to wait 20-30 minutes after the 3rd reboot.

I posted this in the Beta 7 blog post thread but it seems this is a better place.

I also have the same issue with files not showing. I didn't do a clean install but installed over the existing install from recovery and there is no difference. No iCloud Drive files appear.

Everything synced however I still have the same problem of not being able to see anything on the desktop or when navigating to iCloud folders via the finder sidebar shortcuts. If I navigate directly to "/Users/{{User}}/Library/CloudStorage/iCloud Drive" I can see all the files.

The sidebar iCloud Drive shortcut's path is "/Users/{{User}}/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs" which doesn't contain my data.

Hoping this is fixed quickly!

It was a wrongly sized column browser.

One other issue I do have is that every time I reboot my MacBook Pro messages open up straight away. But it's not in the startup or anywhere I can see for it to open straight away.

Anyway to stop it? Or is it just wait for the GM to see if it gets resolved?

My problem is similar. All iCloud files gone from my Mac, then after about two reboots it started to download, but now it gets stuck with about 70% of my files still not downloaded to the Mac. It does not even open an individual file when I click on it (with the cloud icon next to it). Multiple reboots but no further download. I have to go to iCloud.com to download a file if I urgently need it.

Then I discovered a weird semi-solution. I connect my Mac to iPhone hotspot and that starts the download again. I do not want to use up all my data so when I switched back to my wifi it seemed to continue to download, but only for about 5 or 6 files and then nothing. After being able to replicate that about three time even this solution stopped working. I still have about 60% of my files not downloaded. I am stuck!

The new Beta made the Messages app a hot mess.

Messages won't quick? That looks like a swipe keyboard thing. A couple of my feedbacks have crazy titles, too. The swipe keyboard likes to guess a word, then change the previous word to match its guess. I don't always spot this so end up with nonsense.

Each time it happens, I add an update to the Feedback to say "See? Swipe keyboard is still a mess" and I then give the feedback number of the actual feedback request I made for the swipe keyboard being an auto-correct mess :)

I ended with a clean install of beta7 (it kind of needed some fresh air anyways) and that solved my problem. At first it still looked like I was missing a lot of files and folders, but after quite some time on a very fast connection, all files where there and now no issues. Some folders are still missing, but that's good because it was app folders I couldn't delete before this beta—apps I had uninstalled from iOS, deleted data from, etc, so I considered that a bug.

Honestly, it runs really smooth now. I was annoyed with the iCloud issues when upgrading, but now nothing. The only issue I have is when apps aren't prepared for the new partition stuff and therefore, have issues installing (Arq being one, but most are fine).

Pardon my ignorance, but how did you do the 'clean install of beta7'? Im scared of mucking things up further.

  • BACKUP! I run Chronosync on a few selected folders I need, but depending on how you do it.
  • Install the beta profile from developer.apple.com again, it'll ask to download Catalina again (which will be a full install file in your Applications folder).
  • Create a USB stick with it (USB3.0 for sure): http://osxdaily.com/2019/06/06/make-macos-catalina-beta-usb-boot-install-drive/ —use the Terminal solution, takes a min.
  • BACKUP again just to be safe
  • Reboot into the drive
  • What I do here is then open Disk Utility, erase the MacHD (I had 2 last time, 3 another time due to new partition structure). And then I personally erase the 2nd partition, so I have one large MacHD with AFPS encrypted.
  • Quit Disk Utility and then click "Install something something..."
  • Voila, you'll have a fresh install after 45 min or so.
This is my personal way of doing it. Comes with risk potentially, so please make sure you're comfortable doing it and have a proper backup, and don't run it on your daily driver.

Hi!

I've encountered a problem which I was wondering if there are any fixes for yet? When connecting my 2018 MacBook Pro 15" with Vega 20 to an external display, the display flickers occasionally on both DisplayPort and HDMI. Have anyone of you stumbled upon this issue and know how to fix it? I'm connecting the display to my Mac through a Satechi USB-C Multiport V1 (the one with DisplayPort). I'm now on beta 6, but the issue still persists.

Thanks in advance!

After your post and the weird semi-solution I turned off wifi and switched to ethernet, rebooted and things look like they are now downloading!!! I wonder if it's just WiFi related. I will post back and let everyone know if things reappear. I really really didn't want to do a clean install.

EDIT: Nevermind... Still not working.

I guess I'm an outlier, but I had an iCloud bug FIXED in this beta.

I don't want Spotlight searching my cloud files so put the iCloud Drive folder (simply clicking on the shortcut on the left of Finder) in the privacy tab. A few betas ago, this stopped working and Spotlight started listing files there, even after I deleted and re-added it. In this latest beta, iCloud Drive was deleted from my privacy tab, but adding it back worked.

The shortcut location has changed from
~/Library/CloudStorage (which is now empty)
to
~/Library/Mobile Documents/com-apple-CloudDocs.

It tells you all this in the post in Feedback Assistant, which I think nobody read.

I think a clean install of the OS after it comes out is definitely going to be needed this time.

I always do that anyways, but I doubt this will help...

It's interesting you say this because my data still exists in ~/Library/CloudStorage but like you said the shortcuts go to the other place... I wonder why it's syncing/downloading to the wrong location.

Told you to wait and reboot and relax! Don’t panic it will work, I was the first one to install this beta and notice this issue you can tell by services in the back that it’s working just taking it’s sweet tune
[doublepost=1567218534][/doublepost]You can also sign out of the iCloud account and sign back in and it will work also creating new profile and signing into your I cloud will work!!!!
I have been updating tiny Mac 5K late 2015 since day one beta to beta non stop over wiring each time and I never had issue when it came to final release! It always worked for me. I also have a c drive and a drive in a way! Home and data, I had a fusion drive that a split into 128GB fo OS and apps and 2 TB into my data drive, so when I need to ever reinstall my or wipe my OS it’s very simple to do and not loose by data!! Just in case

Just notice with the latest 10.15 Beta (19A546d), that access to my apple wallet Cards has been disabled, and i have not consciously changed anything "Apple Pay has been disabled because the security settings of this Mac were modified."

Am I the only one or is this a beta issue and nothing to worry about and wait for next release - i understand its a beta and these things happen , not seen anything ref to a similar issue though.

it is showing, just the first column is ridiculously long, extend your window to full screen or something and you will see the other columns
or just scroll towards the right

Thanks a lot, i rely on it a lot!
I am facing another issue with Airplay, I have an ATV3 connected via HDMI to a LED TV, after installing DB 7, after connecting my MacBook to the Apple TV, trying to switch to the internal sound output automatically disconnect but, in the menu bar the screen icon is still blue, I have to manually turn off Airplay, At first I thought it was because of Boom 3D, I quit the app, but still happening.
I Will Try to debug it again today before I decide to report it to apple.
