MacBookPro 5,4 (mid-2009, Intel Core Duo 2.53GHz, 8GB RAM, 480.1GB "OWC Electra 3G" SSD).
Boot from installer repeatedly froze when attempting to install OS 10.13.4 via DosDude1 Patch App (v2.5.5).
Successfully downloaded 10.13.3 via the link in the Patch app, and this installed without difficulty. Perhaps slightly less responsive than El Capitan (10.11) - in particular screen updating is a little jerkier - but more than acceptable. And I was able to update to 10.13.4 in situ.

Congrats to @dosdude1 on a fine piece of engineering. I'm sure an update that fully supports 10.13.4 will be forthcoming - but a recommendation in the app's homepage to use the app's internal MacOS download link might save users a lot of hunting around in threads like this one.

Hi

I have 10.3.3 running and wanted to update to 10.13.4.

The problem is that I lost the pendrive which ha Macos High Sierra Patcher.

I downloaded 2.5.5 version and I am downloading with it the Macos High Sierra installation file.

Now I read here that the 2.5.5 is not working with 10.13.4.

Is that true? Should I wait until another version is out?

Looks like 10.3.4 automatically updated on my iMac8,1 when I booted up this morning.

The volume did not adjust on the machine but did work. I ran the volume patch and it fixed that issue. If I see anything else not working, I'll report back.

Why aren't you using the App Store to update?

I was out of town for a week so just now I updated my iMac 9,1 to 10.13.4 from .3 and it went smoothly.

After install, I get a notification that not all updates were installed. I look at the update history in the app store and there's no mention that 13.4 was installed. It just lists iTunes 12.7.4 and the Pages, Numbers and Keynote. Under About This Mac, it showing 10.13.4. Is this normal?

On a separate note; brightness control worked after update but it only had a 2-3 step range. After re-installing the backlight control patch from the Patch Updater, it's now showing the full scale of brightness.

I've just finished updating High Sierra Patcher to both create a functional 10.13.4 installer USB drive, and download a full copy of the 10.13.4 installer from Apple. Download from my webpage as usual.

Thanks @dosdude1 , the patcher works and can confirm that Mac Pro 3,1 is running 10.13.4 . The graphic card 5770 is finicky to say the least.

Are you saying that under the new patcher for 10.13.4 is still wonky with the 5770, or just a passing comment that the 5770 makes it difficult for upgraders and forces them to wait for the next updated patch before upgrading to the newest OS release?

For me, this is the first time I've had to wait for an updated patcher before updating to the latest OS.

The newer AMD cards have always been a bit wonky, due to the native High Sierra kexts requiring SSE4.2, which the Mac Pro 3,1 CPUs don't support. The AMD video card patch is a hackjob using Sierra kexts, so it's always been a bit glitchy. Although, the patch usually gets overwritten during software updates, and needs to be re-installed using the Patch Updater tool after the software update finishes to get graphics acceleration back.

Is it that easy?

Just to use the App Store and then use the patcher, like previous updates?
Having patched your Mac to run High Sierra means that you should be able to open the App Store and download any updates available to you, you do not need to download the full installer each time Apple announces an update to High Sierra.
I see though that dosdude1 has now released an updated version of his High Sierra Patcher app and also updated it so you can now download the full 10.13.4 installer if you still want to do that.

What hardware? On my MacBook5,1 and MacBook5,5 O did not have to reapply the patch but I did get an error on first launch of the App Store app that said not everything was installed. However my machines are listed as 10.13.4 and my iTunes is up to date too so I’m not sure what that message was referring to.

It might be worth listing those video cards known to still be glitch free and those which aren't on the High Sierra Patcher web site so folks aren't surprised.

Mac Pro 3,1

I have seen the notification about not all components being installed on a MacPro 3,1 many times during the 10.13.4 seeds and with final release. The issue is more understandable on my AppleRAID volume, since the updater seems to want to force the missing Recovery Partition update but makes no sense on the other normal jHFS volume which has a patched Recovery Partition. Hopefully this issue won't reappear for the 10.13.5 seeds over 10.13.4.

I find that the 5770 is a hit and miss when restarting the MacPro 3,1 as sometimes it goes to graphic acceleration while other times it does not. The new Patcher from @dosdude1 works fine (2.6.0) and I am able to install 10.13.4. Just don't restart the computer too often. I had one drive still on El Capitan to fall back on and 5770 works fine. For me, may be hunt down a GTX 680 to minimize the headache. The 5770 was a replacement for the 8800. Oh well that's what happen when I had an old machine. But thanks for everyone helps and inputs.

Yeh the 5770 does not play nice with HS. So I ran beta 5 on 10.13.4. Bad idea. After the install, the 5770 was not accelerated. You can tell if the dock isn't translucent. Tried a bunch of things to see if I could get it working including reinstallation of patches, SIP On/off, etc.

So I don't know how the GM of 10.13.4 performs on the 5770 but on 10.13.3, it was glitchy. I didn't experience any application glitches but I'd get red and blue redraw errors in Preview, Safari, and other apps. Wake up from sleep is also broken. Moving the window across the screen forced a redraw and fixed the glitches... but if you had to scroll, oftentimes the red/blue would come back.

I ended up just getting a GTX 680 for my 3,1 on eBay for around $200. So far, works well out of the box. Also works with Nvidia's drivers. If you want to squeeze more life into your 3,1 as others have said, I'd recommend going that route. The actual upgrade from 10.13.3 -> 10.13.4 worked fine here. Dare I say this machine works as well as it does on the officially supported El Cap.

I had *just* upgraded to a Radeon 5770 on my Mac Pro 2008 when High Sierra was released last year. Wish I had known I'd be in for all these graphical glitches, otherwise I would have chosen a different card. Oh well.

So is there really no alternative driver or anything that can resolve these problems? I've been living with them since I patched/installed High Sierra, but the blue/red screens in Preview in particular are very annoying.

I just update my Mac Pro 2008 from 10.3.2 to 10.3.4 succesfully. I had to reinstall AMD patch with Dosdude's patch updater. Beyond that, no other problem. Here is my configuration:
Mac Pro (Early 2008)
2 x 3,2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
32 Go 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 Mo

Any chance you could walk me thru your precess to do that?

Chris

The 10.13.4 update broke the brightness adjust on both my 2009 MBP 13" and my late 2009 Mac Mini, both with the same video chip (Geforce 9400M). I had to boot up the post-install and actually install the backlight patch; it never installed before as it wasn't needed until this update. The patch updater than picked up the backlight patch and updated it, and brightness controls worked again. I didn't bother to do this procedure with my Mac Mini, as it's my headless media server, but I did plug a monitor and keyboard into it to test the brightness controls.

It also broke the night shift patch, but every update does that :)

All you need to do is open the Patch Updater tool located in your /Applications/Utilities folder, click "View Installed Updates", then from there you can right-click on any patch, and select "Re-install" to re-install the patch.

I have a white 2010 Macbook and the main issues I've had since last update to 10.13.3 are Time Machine failing mid backup process, and unable to stop Filevault decryption process even through terminal.

I confirm 10.3.4 installed on my Mac Pro 3.1 works like a charm.
Video card is an AMD Radeon HD 7950 3GB

Hello

0) I was at version 10.13.2. That version was installed with dosdude's tool.
1) I did the update from the App Store as a regular update
2) I rebooted to my USB key to restore some patches
3) I had to reapply the AMD video patch with dosdude patcher because I had no hardware acceleration.
4) After that I was still unable to play movie or listen to music with iTunes. Then I used the Onyx automation script to resolve these problems. After the reboot, these problems were fixed.

Now the system work well. The problems that I had at 10.3.2 with the ATI Radeon HD 5870 are still there :+/ but they are not too annoying for me.

Any chance you could walk me thru your precess to do that?
