Your GPU works perfectly in ElCap, but with the changes that Apple implemented on High Sierra needs SSE4.2, it's better to just use a Nvidia Kepler one. You can use try to use Sierra drivers, these don't need SSE4.2, on High Sierra and disable sleep completely, but that don't work with Mojave anymore.
Well, I can see the writing is on the wall. Now, to see if MVC can flash my Gigabyte GTX 760 to replace the HD 7950 (which will upgrade one of my older hackintoshs).

Thanks,@tsialex, for your knowledge. :apple: I'm following your progress with 10.14 and the bootROM upgrades. :)

to avoid any problem I'm not going to provide any tool or direct link
I can only tell you what to search for
simply copy paste this on a search engine

macOS Mojave Patcher Tool for Unsupported Macs

I'm not telling you to do anything or install anything
this is simply for information purposes
you are the one who decides what to do
cheers

edit
I don't need this as my system is fully supported
but this might be useful for the one that has an "unsupported" system and want to install Mojave

Maybe it's more cost effective to search for a PC eVGA GTX 680 and flash yourself, no? It's a 5' job to flash it…

I haven't flashed a graphics card in 15+ years, and I remember that was a huge PITA. However, the state-of-the-art might have progressed since then. Please give me a link from your library for a good method to flash a GTX 680 or point me in the right direction. (netkas?)

You can use BootCamp, no problem. If you can install a hackintosh, you can flash a GTX 680 sleeping. :D
Well, since I don't use/have Windoze, how can I use BootCamp? I don't want to spend $100+ USD on Windows for a one time flash. I can have MVC do it for about that cost.

Looked on eBay just now. The least expensive EVGA GTX 680 4GB card is a flashed one for Mac at $289 USD. I'm thinking MVC can flash my GTX 760 for a lot less.

Never the less, thank you for your help and information.

I've searched for months to find a eVGA GTX 680 Mac Edition on the cheap, bought it, then two weeks later I found another eVGA GTX 680, this time Signature 4GB with backplate for ~$145. You'll have to search for sometime, don't pay those eBay prices.

You can download Windows 10 ISO directly from Microsoft and use it for 30 days.

My apologies if this was asked already - couldn't find an answer -
I've successfully installed Sierra...and High Sierra... via dosdude's tool on my 2009 MacPro.

Is it safe to RE-enable SIP vis the csrutil command after successful installation? Or does the hack require it to remain off forever?

I would think if there's an issue, it's with fresh future system updates from Apple. But does the hack keep everything running smoothly with SIP on?

I've searched all over for a definitive, informed answer. I'd ask dosdude himself, but not sure how. Thanks y'all

Thanks. Unfortunately, @ActionableMango's instructions require the use of Windoze.

The tool involved is actually a DOS utility and doesn't require Windows. If you can make a bootable FreeDOS disc or thumbdrive, you can do it there without Windows. Other people have done it (not me).

I don't want to spend $100+ USD on Windows for a one time flash.

You can download Windows 10 installer for free from Microsoft and it works without activation.

I'm just throwing out some alternatives. It's fine to get your card flashed by MVC of course. Or buy a flashed card.

Thank you for the FreeDOS suggestion. I've used FreeDOS for other tasks in the past. Gonna rethink self flashing...now to find a good price on a EVGA GTX 680 4GB card.

Very recommended to leave SIP disables as some of the patches may fail as long as the hardware

but for running Mojave, you need a Metal GPU so Nvidia Kepler onwards - like GTX 680 or newer.
Or maybe just a GT 640 like the one I'm running.

Not necessarily... Unless you boot using an APFS volume (and have the verbose EFI booting method), than you don't have to worry about patching your firmware. Patching the firmware will allow your system to boot from APFS volumes natively, and not need the APFS booting implementation.

is there any advantages to formatting the SSD boot volume as APFS versus extended journaled?

I was thinking about buying a GTX 680 to replace my AMD HD 6870. Just to be sure, if I flashed a GTX 680, I can have the boot menu and my Mac Pro 3.1 will work perfectly on High Sierra ? (sleep ? no red pages ?) What about Mojave ?

@tsialex, won an eBay auction for a EVGA GTX 680 2GB (02G-P4-2680-KR) for ~$125 USD shipped. I'll flash it as soon as it's delivered.

Thanks again for your help.
