No idea, but it is HFS+ SSD and not APFS, so apparently the Apple Store update is not forcing APFS automatically.

[doublepost=1502161235][/doublepost]If APFS is a PITA on unsupported Macs, I'll move to openzfsonosx for the boot disk‚ which is a more robust FS than Apple's APFS anyhow.
Czo has some way of getting apfs onto unsupported Macs but I'll wait until the GM release of 10.13 before trying it.

Just updated macOS High Sierra Patcher. It should now work with the latest High Sierra Public Beta installer. As usual, the download, as well as a copy of the latest installer, is available here. I will also be updating this webpage soon with documentation.

The link to the Beta Installer is broken

Just tried the link to the PB installer and it is fine and downloading.
What problem are you seeing?

I haven't had time to test the 1.1.2 patcher yet but the only oddity that I saw with the current High Sierra DP 5 release is that recovery partition is created using 10.11.6 from El Capitain. Are there any plans to update that to actual High Sierra release so the Disk Utility with the enhanced APFS support from 10.13 is available in the recovery partition?

Yeah, with version 1.1 and later of my patch tool, it uses the stock High Sierra recovery partition and utilities.

Question for dosdude and Czo. Does the latest 1.1.2 patch tool put the latest SUVMMFaker.dylib in position for future software updates, or must it be added manually as previously?

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work using the 1.1.2 High Sierra patcher on a MacPro 3,1 with the Developer Preview 5 installer. The expected 10.13 Recovery Partition is created but is not bootable by default as the MacPro 3,1 patch set doesn't enable a recovery partition patch to be applied. Even after repeating the post install patching with the recovery partition patching manually selected, although the empty null icon is eliminated when attempting to boot the resulting 10.13 recovery partition, the boot never completes into the recovery partition and instead you are dumped back into the normal 10.13 boot partition.

Hopefully this can be fixed using the Patch Updater mechanism applied to the existing 10.13 recovery volume without requiring a clean install again.

FYI re: the MacBook5,1 (late 2008 13") experience -- using PB4 (17A330h) + dosdude1 patcher (1.1.2) + *no* post-install needed, it all looks good, i.e. no discernible trackpad issues, just as for an earlier incarnation of the patcher + PB3. Perhaps it's time that MacBook5,1 goes on the "no issues" list.

I am somewhat surprised that Apple doesn't want to sabotage HS for officially vintage (actually, officially "obsolete") MacBooks.

[doublepost=1502327072][/doublepost]Hopefully.

[OT] Beta 5 is still riddled with quite serious bugs so I hope Apple switches to a faster beta cycle of 1 week soon because 2 weeks with bugs can be show stopper painful.

AMD Radeon HD 7970 is currently not compatible, the system freezes on booting.
MacPro 3.1 early 2008.

No problem here with the ATI HD2600XT on a MacPro 3,1. The only problem I have, on both patched Sierra and High Sierra, is with the wonky Edimax drivers for the EW-7811UAC I replaced my unsupported AirPort Extreme card with. Removing USB devices from the machine causes the wireless connection to drop through that USB adapter which is a bit annoying.

So far have 10.15 beta 3, 4 and 5 system freezes on booting the MP 3,1 and 5,1 with HD4870, 5870 and 6870 (all with efi rom) all of which boot normally under Sierra. The RX 460 (boots normally under Sierra) freezes too but can be made to Safe boot without GL acceleration. Apple needs to work on GPU drivers. The original XD2600 XT is the only card that enables 3,1 booting that I have tested.

Is anyone else here using a USB wireless adapter with patched Sierra or High Sierra? If so, do you see the following behavior? With the Edimax drivers, I find that if I insert a USB memory stick and eject it, the Edimax wireless connection is unaffected. However the moment I physically remove the ejected USB memory stick, the wireless connection is dropped and I have to toggle the USB wi-fi on and off to restore the wireless connection. Edimax claims they have no reports of this behavior and can't reproduce it on 10.12 so I am wondering if this is a side-effect of the patched legacy USB drivers in use on the MacPro 3,1?

@dosdude1 Why after I convert my MacBook Pro as APFS by your patch tool and install macOS High Sierra, I am incapable to boot into system by APFS Partition, and when I use option key while turn on my Mac, the APFS Partition just now show up.

You should really read more back of this thread...

Unsupported macs as they are, the firmware does not recognize APFS, @foxlet has a method to install High Sierra with APFS on unsupported macs but hasen’t made it public yet and can only be installed with you having already another macOS instalation meaning you can’t format your hard drive from zero and make a clean install using APFS...

@dosdude1 method installation uses HFS you can do whatever you want... APFS he said he may look into it later in time...

it's hard being an innovator! @dosdude1, @foxlet, etc... all do what they do, because they want to, not that they have to. and yes, they do get thanked by many, but it is surprising how many actually BLAME them when something goes awry. I am on an MBP4,1 (4gb memory, not even an SSD), and after messing up (me) a few times, I went back and RTFT (T for thread), and now it sings. Not only does it update on its own (that bit inside the Utilities folder works well indeed), it is useable, fast, and I don't need to boil water for coffee while it loads! (ok, half-boiled). Bottom line - if you read and follow the instructions well, the likelihood of not having High Sierra (BETA, mind you) is small. Of course, sometimes, something goes wrong...

Hi,

Does anybody know if multitouch trackpad modification on macbook white mid 2009 non-unibody still works on el capitan/sierra/high sierra using unsupported mac installation? Do you still see multitouch option on trackpad preference? Want to modify my trackpad, to see if I can use 2 finger tap right click, pinch to zoom etc. Wondering if I did thismodification it will work to have multitouch? Thanks.

If you're taking about the mod where you swap the trackpad with the one from the Early-2008 MacBook Pro 4,1, then yes, it will. All multitouch gestures will work perfectly fine with that mod.

Thanks for the reply. Yes that is exactly what I meant. Do you have modified one too? May I know where did you get your mutitouch trackpad? So only the brightness will only be the issue in high sierra after you changing to multitouch trackpad right in macbook 5,2?

Thank you. I am running High Sierra 10.13 beta 5 (developer release) on a MacBook Pro 5,2 17 inch (mid 2009).
I had no issues using your new patch. The default selections, for the 5,2 MacBook Pro, in the Post Install Patch were sufficient to allow full functionality.

One question: Czo's patch (thanks Czo), now incorporated into your latest High Sierra Installer, is described as allowing "Public Beta" auto-downloads. Does the patch allow *developer* betas to be downloaded via Apple Store (auto update?)
It just curiosity, as I can download directly from developer site.

Unrelated:
A word of caution for anyone using newest version of Malwarebytes' "Anti-Malware.app"; on my laptop, currently on 10.13 developer beta-5, the newest Anti-Malware.app triggered a runaway "kernel task" process. Reluctantly, I had to remove the program.
