MacbookPro 5,2 update to 10.13.1 went smoothly. One minor problem, NightEnabler runs and works but System Preferences Display Pane crashes.

I have the Macbook 5,2 updated to 10.13.1, backlight controls weren't working but repatched and works fine. But I'm having the same problem with the Display preferences crashing. I don't think I'm using NightEnabler.

Edit: App Store also not working - Solved all by running Onyx Automation

Your MacBook has an unsupported GPU. No way to run the newer system.

I have 10.13.1 running on my MacPro 3.1 (early 2008) on a PCIe SSD (Mac OS Exented, since I can't get the AFPS somehow)
I also had the problem that no USB Drive would work with the patcher (simply wouldn't detect the USB drive on startup) but worked no problem with a partition on one of the 4 HDD.
It's running smooth an stable, apart from red screen in preview and display wake up (5870 1GB and 30" Cinema HD).
Using Acrobat Pro for PDF and no sleep mode for the monitor does the trick, but hopefully someday it will work again.

What doesn't work are the updates... App store shows 5 updates as available, but it just freezes. Also tried to update via terminal, but to no avail.
Console gives me this (amongst many other faults and problems):

Code:
Failed to start process notifications for pid 69448 (16)
Code:
rejecting read of { MobileMeAccounts, kermit, kCFPreferencesAnyHost, no container, managed: 0 } from process 546 because accessing preferences outside an application's container requires user-preference-read or file-read-data sandbox access
Code:
[ERROR] - Unknown CGXDisplayDevice: 0x41dc9d00

I have installed 10.13.1 with encrypted APFS and the APFS patch on a MPB 5,5. When I run

Code:
sudo fdesetup add -usertoadd Username

I get this output:

Code:
OD user 'Username' could not be authenticated.
Error: Unable to add one or more users to FileVault. (-69578)

Can anyone help me with it?

Thanks

Instead of 'Username' I would imagine you need to use your username.

Hello all! Finally found the time and I upgraded my 9,1 iMac from ElCapitan to High Sierra using the patch tool from dosdude.. Great work! Everything ran smoothly and the system is up and running.. The only problem that I have noticed is that the usb ports of my iMac can no longer charge my iPad air 2 and also during sleep my external drives get unmounted, which was not happening with El Capitan. Any ideas?

I need help . I have one macbook white 5,2 Mid-2009 , Intel Core 2 Duo , 2.13GHz ,2 GB 800MHz DDR2 and Nvidia GeForce 9400M , with SL 10.6.8 . I checked and looks that is in the compatible list but first when I try to use the high sierra patcher tool to download macOS High Sierra , macOS High Sierra Patcher quit unexpectedly .
I download an image of the high sierra from other place but when I tried to use it with the patcher , say that the patcher creates the high sierra image patched in the usb ( takes only around 10 seconds ), but the usb is empty .
What is the problem , because the computer is compatible , right ?
Thank you and a greeting

The tool has issues with 10.6 it seems. Upgrade your machine to 10.7 or later, and it should work no problem. I'll change the minimum system requirement to 10.7 in the next release.

Thank you so much . I tried with 10.7 and now I can download the macOS High Sierra installer with the tool , but again when I try to use it with the patcher , says that the high sierra image is done in the usb ( takes only around 5 seconds to do it ), but the usb is empty . I tried with three different usb keys with no luck . Do you know what could be the problem ?

Thank you

I'm also seeing some weird power management issues with my iMac 9,1 since installing High Sierra. Under El Capitan I used to be able to plug my iPhone into Apple's full-size (wired) keyboard's USB port and it not only was able to sync with iTunes but charge as well, now I get this whenever I plug my iPhone into the same KB:

port-jpeg.732395

I started using my old wireless Apple keyboard to free up a USB port for my i-devices but I now miss the num-pad.

I am also getting the exact same message whenever I plug a usb stick at the wired keyboard usb port on my iMac 9,1. In general it seems that something is wrong with the usb power management..

HI there, I get an error every time around 4% remaining in the high sierra installation. I have SIP disabled. I tried it with high sierra downloaded both from a supported mac and downloaded from within the patched installer. Always an error at 4%. Says got an error can't continue, check diagnostics to inspect your hardware. I'm pretty much out of ideas unless anyone else has one. Unless I can come up with something else i was thinking I'd try and install just regular Sierra tonight after work and see how goes. If not its back to Yosemite for me :/

Try using a different USB drive, that usually fixes this error.

Running a 5.1 MacBook.

Have completed a clean install, and the audio drivers don't appear to be loading. The volume in the menu bar is greyed out and the system log notes:

Nov 18 13:32:55 Jons-MacBook com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.apple.audio.coreaudiod): Service only ran for 1 seconds. Pushing respawn out by 9 seconds.
Nov 18 13:33:04 Jons-MacBook com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.apple.audio.coreaudiod[1323]): Service exited due to signal: Segmentation fault: 11 sent by exc handler[0]

Have tried to re-install the patches - but no dice. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have the same problem as you. Have you fixed this yet?

A trick for young players... Turns out Rogue Amoeba's version of Instant On for ElCap plays very badly with coreaudio in High Sierra - saw a ref to rogue amoeba in the system log, so started rooting out the application. The instant on plug in is located here: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/

There is also a pref list as well. Given it is now working, I will try and re-install and see how it goes.

I don't have Rogue Amoeba installed, and no files under HAL. Please help me out, I've been with a MUTE mac since 10.13 :/

The way downloading the OS is handled appears to have changed for 10.13. Instead of downloading the entire ~5GB app from the App Store, now, the app downloaded is only ~7MB, and when launched, downloads the entirety of the OS. I'm assuming (and hoping) that this is done just to verify that you are actually a registered developer in order to install it. If this is the case, then the public beta (and final release) versions should revert to the traditional download method.
Hey there,

Just a quick note, i have now even reinstalled the patched macOS version, force rebuilt cache, installed your latest backlight patch update but still no luck on the MacBook pro 17" Early 2009, perhaps its juts not meant to be can't seem to figure out why backlight won't work have to reboot machine each time after I'm done using it to use it again.

Hi guys,
I've been experiencing a recurring problem with my MacBook Mid-2009 that has been upgraded to run HS with @dosdude1 patch. It runs smoothly without any problems and I've been enjoying it immensely, until a few months in.
I would then be hit by the “Wi-Fi: No Hardware Installed” problem. This has occurred to me for the second time just now.
In my previous attempt, I tried to apply the fixes described here: http://osxdaily.com/2016/07/11/fix-wi-fi-no-hardware-installed-error-mac/
but that completely messed up my Mac. It couldn't even boot after attempting the fix. So I had to reformat everything and reinstall HS patch from scratch.
Reading up on the installation guide, it seems that I shouldn't have reset the PRAM to avoid re-enabling the SIP.

Could anyone advice on how I can resolve this issue without having to reinstall everything and lose my data on the Mac? Should I try any of the fixes listed in the article or is there another way?
Thank you.

Hey @dosdude1 , have you had a chance to look into the uninstaller for the ATI card. I installed with the ATI HD5770 for display needs during the build, and then switch back to the Nvidia GTX 680 and have the red screen problem at login and really bad performance due to no acceleration. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I can't seem to update to macOS 10.13.1 on my Macbook5,1. The update shows up in the App Store and I can download it fine, the Macbook restarts OK to install it, the installation begins (progress bar at about 10%), but then the Macbook reboots again without completing the installation. My version is still 10.3, and 10.13.1 still shows up in the App Store as an update. I can download it again, but the same thing happens.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I'm still working on it, but in the meantime, you can download and run the script found here to uninstall the AMD GPU Patch.
