Finally! Now I can finally justify buying a Mac.

In the meantime on my m3 air I constantly end up not being able to switch user accounts because it glitches out and I have to force a restart and lose all unsaved data. Pathetic.

Was kind of looking forward to messing with it, but it's in beta. I don't feel like messing with the betas right now. My daughter just got a 16 for her birthday but I haven't had a chance to mess with it on there so it would have been nice to mess with it on my computer but reckon I got to wait another month.

User switching works just fine on my end.

I know Apple were never meant to occupy the fast lane in office productivity but Genmoji and Image Playground - Really?
Reminds me of Bill Nighy's line at the start of Love Actually

Billy Mack: This is s***, isn't it?
Joe : [gleefully] Yep, solid gold s***, maestro.

It seemed at first when Apple demonstrated some of the Apple intelligence features in early summer to be useful. Now as they are rolling out, they all seem very underwhelming and useless for the most part.

Give it time, the small on board LLM is a gateway to great features and productivity eventually. I think they're just very slow about what to hook into it and how.

Genmoji is an Apple Intelligence feature that is available on all Macs that have an Apple silicon chip. All Genmoji generation is done directly on-device.
Pretty nuts that e.g. a 2019 Mac Pro can't use Genmoji. Yes it's Intel but I'm sure the CPU is perfectly capable...

I was so confused because I thought Image Playground and Genmoji were the same thing. Apparently not?
Image Playground is where you make cursed images, and it has a dedicated app. Genmoji (I vomit a little inside my mouth every time I type that) is only available from the emoji picker. Enjoy this cursed emoji.

I honestly don't mind waiting for Apple Intelligence features. I welcome the staggered feature rollout if it ensures each feature is a bit more polished.

What I DON'T like, is the inconsistency in feature releases across devices. iOS gets something, but the Mac doesn't. Then the Mac gets something, but AVP support is nowhere to be found. Etc.

Why market AI features SOO heavily, and then immediately limit their device availability? If you're dropping Genmoji, wait for it to be ready on ALL supported devices before releasing it. This way I can properly implement it into my daily usage because I'll know it's always available to me as I bounce around all my devices.

This inconsistent rollout will likely lead to many features being unused or simply forgotten about by the time it's available across the board (or on your specific device).

The way they're handling this Apple Intelligence rollout just reeks of desperation, as if they're trying to get you comfortable with their AI before you get too hooked on others, or as if they feel late to the party and are trying to catch up, and that feels very unlike Apple.

My Mrs enabled Apple Intelligence and it downloaded like 3GB of data to her device. Having found nothing useful she disabled it and the 3GB is still there. Is there a way to delete it and reclaim this space other than a full erase and reinstall?

I understand why disabling wouldn't automatically remove it as you might want to re-enable it without downloading it all again, but surely it's a basic oversight to not provide a delete option for the data? Everything is so sloppy.
