I don't think the full installer can be used as an on-device upgrade. It's meant to be installed from another mac or set up on a bootable USB drive

Finally.

Looks somehow different than before the black lines.

I used it several times to update. Especially when something is wrong it could be fixed that way.

Is this new:

In Display settings my display now has this as wallpaper. Not sure, but I think it didn't have any at all before.

Did you use it to update Tahoe 26 Beta 3? Or via SystemUpdate?

I used SystemUpdate after putting two Rosetta folders into Trash. The full installer always gave me a beach ball. Same after the update.

It seems Apple had issues with the Silicon Version so the one out at the moment is for Intel Macs only that is why people with the M1 upwards won't see the new update to install.

how did you put Rosetta in Trash?

I deleted those two folders only. There is more but it seems it had been enough. You might need to disable SIP before.

/Library/Apple/usr/share/rosetta
/Library/Apple/usr/libexec

Let's see what happens when I put them back now.

Seems to work again after a reboot. Before 1Password mini was gone from my Menu Bar. It's still version 6 and needs Rosetta.

I’m starting to think that they are really lost.
The non compact view, paired with the bigger UI elements, makes a 14” feel like a 12”.

But good that they said that the new transparent menu bar makes your display feel bigger.

Someone needs to be sent out of the door at Apple.

hmm, my screen looks no smaller (or bigger for that matter 🤔) than it did in sequoia...

I can’t for the life of me understand why they keep doing things like this, only to add an option to turn it off. Who actually believes features like this are a good idea in the first place?
And the fact that it’s the default is just going to frustrate a lot of users. They tried this same stuff with the whole “compact” colored safari ui a few years ago and apparently didnt learn their lesson

Folks liked the compact UI, hell one of them just posted in here asking if they brought it back with the new beta!
