Took a look inside 18B2107 anyway and the firmware is still 140.0.0.0.
Any infos why 10.14.2b1 was pulled by Apple? Any issues experienced? Any news on the BootROM?
Apple pulled it before arriving on the Seed SUCatalog, the catalog was updated before the announcement of 10.14.2 on the Developer Center and was not updated after.

Any supported NVMe drive has boot support, this is the thread about PCIe SSDs: Blade SSDs - NVMe & AHCI. Any problems will be reported there.

I was able to download the full installer for 10.14.1 on Tuesday afternoon even though I was already on 10.14.0. Just search for Mojave in the App Store and choose "View". Then on the product page, click Get. It will take you to the new Software Updates pref pane but then it should pop up a dialog box saying "Are you sure you want to download macOS Mojave 10.14.1?" Click "Download" and it should dl the full 6GB installer. Just tried it again this AM and it worked.
Just as a clarification for anyone coming to this thread later - downloading the Mojave installer directly from 10.13.6 via App Store is not 100% guaranteed you will receive the full (complete) installer. I was given the 22.8 MB installer file via App Store, which was fine for the 140.0.0.0.0 firmware update. I was unaware there was a small group of users this was being tested on. Lucky me?
Seems Apple is trying to save bandwidth and is moving to a dynamic macOS installer, sometimes I get the dynamic installer, sometimes I get the full one.
Even startosinstall now support dynamic download of missing components.
I read that. My problem is I am unable to do what is described.
I downloaded the full installer via installinstallmacos.py and when I open "Install macOS Mojave.app" it says...
"Installing macOS Mojave on this Mac requires that all graphics cards have Metal support...."
I have only one card installed AMD 7970 - It DOES have metal support - I'm already on Mojave.
This is not what you asked, you asked about updates installing firmware into Mac Pro 5,1.
If your card have Metal support and the installer tells you that is not supported, open a bug report with Apple.
The only way to overcome this is reconstructing the BootROM and flashing with ROMTool.
That's why I asked about the standard update process, because macOS is offering me that update normally.

It's a bug with the detection of Metal support that the macOS installer plugin has with some cards. Please report to Apple: Submitting Bugs and Feedback

No. The only way to bypass the need of Metal from efi2flasher is reconstructing the BootROM and flashing it with ROMTool.

The 10.14 Installer does not reject the AMD 7970, only the new one 10.14.1
Unfortunately not an option for me, since I don't have a High Sierra system anymore.
You don't need to install Mojave. Boot 10.13.6 and just open the full Mac App Store installer for 10.14.1, the installer will then ask you to perform the update, after the firmware upgrade, close the 10.14.1 installer.
The detection bug occurs more if you open from Mojave and a lot less if you open from 10.13.6 - but happens with both.
Finally got around to dropping in a NVMe drive in to my Mac Pro. I picked up a Samsung EVO 970 500GB.
I just went to install macOS Mojave and I get this message:
"You may not install to this volume because the computer is missing a firmware partition"
My Boot ROM Version is 140.0.0.0.0
Anyone else seen this error?

Your 970EVO was previously used?
Fully erase it with this procedure:
Unmount the drive you want to erase, then find what is the disk number:

diskutil listNow fully wipe the drive:

sudo gpt destroy diskXXChange XX to the correct disk number, use the real one and not the container one. This will fully wipe the drive erasing the GPT partition map, it's the best way to erase a drive.
