You have a PC????? How dare you! ;) :p

Notice it is on the floor. :D

The desk is Galant - IKEA for those who asked.

The Mac gear was paid for with lots of hours behind a camera lens. :D

And thanks WD, yeah we really like the fireplace, but feeding it gets expensive.

If all goes well, this will be my crib next month...Its not like EJB's place, but its a good upgrade of our current "smallish" house...

I like it. Thats what many upper middle class people live in.

What are the specs.
----

My favorite part of my house is the automatic front gate. I can never really shut it though. Then the UPS or Fedex people can't get in and in the winter it will get stuck.

4br + den, 2.5 bath, 2800 sq ft, .42 acres, 3car garage and lots of little upgrades that should make the home nice.

So let me ask you, is an interior decorator expensive? Are we talking a one or two K, or more? We were thinking about hiring one just to give us a plan/idea and then we'd do most of the work.

Sounds pretty nice. Good for raising a family. The .42 acres is a little tight, but it all depends on where you live I guess. 3 Car garage is nice.

There are lots of different ways interior decorators charge. Some charge by hour + cost of items bought, some by adding a commission to everything they buy- say a sofa costs $2000, they might charge $2300.

It all really depends on how much they help and how much you want to spend on the room. When I had the designer come in, she showed me a plan of what she wanted to do, and I said ok, and she pretty much took it from there. I had to decide though how much I wanted to spend.

This is my Beach House located in Rhode Island on East Beach. It is about 100 yards away from the water with an unobstructed view of a pond, the ocean, and then Block Island. Sorry for gigroundous pics. There is no floor in the kitchen yet because we just renovated it. Aside from the pic of the view and of the house itself, the pics were take april 1, 2006, yesterday.

I accidentally my whole location.
This was the most recent "post your room" pic I could find so here goes. These were the most complete ones of my room that I took before my camera died.

Lights on.

Lights off.

room2.JPG

I have about 20 candles littered throughout my room, most of which aren't lit of course so as not to suffocate me when I'm in it.

Well, I've thought about repainting the walls a different (whiter) shade of white. ;) The minimalist in me likes things as simple as possible, and white walls make the space look bigger.

in an open space like yours even a dark color wouldn't close you in. i've painted lots of spaces and found myself surprised at how much warmth and life it brings in. seldom does it really make a place look smaller too. (dark paint on ceilings does this but almost because it's a trick of the eye, being above you instead of in front of you.)

picking a color is the hardest part though. there's always the "will i get sick of it" factor. there's always re-paint though. as indecisive as i am, i've done it a few times. it's always sort of fun though. color is powerful in how it can liven up a place.

if i have a bought of insomnia again, maybe i'll photoshop in color to your walls or something. :p :)

p.s. you have phenomenal lighting in there clayj

Light conditions always change when you're using a point-and-shoot. Try shooting your own collage and you'll see what I mean.

nice bedroom, your bed looks comfy... :)
with all the art and your nice house, i noticed on your profile your a quantum mechanic, what is that? Sounds like your smart...:p ;)

from wikki
Quantum mechanics is a fundamental branch of theoretical physics that replaces Newtonian mechanics and classical electromagnetism at the atomic and subatomic levels. It is the underlying framework of many fields of physics and chemistry, including condensed matter physics, quantum chemistry, and particle physics. Along with general relativity, it is one of the pillars of modern physics.
yea that makes no sense.....

You know nothing about slang if you think the word crib started wtih MTV.

Everything you see on MTV is at least 5 years old, by the time MTV catches on to it and mainstream ppl think its cool.

"Quantum mechanic" is sort of a joke. It means that I'm someone who causes changes on a quantum level... but that sort of thing goes on all the time as part of the natural operation of the Universe. (It's also the name of a song by Thomas Dolby.)

The bed's OK... been sleeping on it for 10 years now with no complaints. Maybe one day I'll get one of those new foam mattresses. ;)
