This was at the end of my leave so it was grown out. But I'm not a big fan of the skin to hair mohawk so I had it faded/tapered in to a #1 on the sides of my head

Well, you're both partially right. Filming locations contains both the temple complex mentioned and Taranaki.
The Engyo-ji complex here in my town was Katsumoto's home in the movie. The graveyard toward the end where they are discussing the cherry blossom poem amidst falling blossoms is also part of that complex, as are the scenes where cruise wanders along pathways littered with Buddha statues.

But this made me think .... How come no-one ever gets a "Sioux"? Or a "Haida"? Or an "Ojibway"? Or an " Ka:'yu:'k't'h' "? (That one exists, trust me...)
Maybe a faux-hawk is actually a well done "Shawnee" cut? Or a "Cree"? Wouldn't a "Blood" cut sound cool too?
