John Williams also mooched off of Edgar Holst w/ all that planetary stuff. :p Right? Right? Ah well, at least that's what my high school conductor said (sounds like it to me, too).

Gustav Holst, actually. ;) The Regina Symphony Orchestra is performing the entire Planets Suite this year so I'm looking forward to playing that one! (I perform with the symphony numerous times throughout the year - lots of fun!)

Well, here is my Halloween costume:

No, actually thats just me sitting on some rocks. Lake Superior is in the background. Its not really that high-quality nor that great of a picture, sorry :(

The other one is at my desk at about 2:30 in the morning from an Intel webcam.

Click to enlarge (though most of you know that)

Has anyone been to Lake Superior? If not, you should go.

Thanks... Knew somebody had to know more than I... Only played Jupiter about six years ago. Hee. I have a hard time w/ names.

Oh, and Katie... thank goodness they're harassing you in this thread. I see now why they do that though-- bother harmless, innocent young ladies; it's terribly funny when you're not the object of their torture.

Maybe I can dig-up an old photo of me dressed up as Sonic in like 3rd grade, I can try and fit in it now...but, umm...that won't be pretty :p

Yes, Jupiter and Mars are the highlights of the Suite, definitely. Hmm, funny how the Star Wars Imperial March has similarities to Mars... Nah, as mentioned above, John Williams never rips anything off... ;)

That reminds me I dressed up a stormtrooper from Star Wars one year way back...basically a pair of white sweatpants and a thick white shirt with black marker drawn all over to make it look like armor. I had the stormtrooper plastic gun though, I think my mom ended up carrying it for me the whole time, hahaha, good times :p :D

My post about Katie was meant as a compliment. She is an awesome young lady, smart and funny. Feel privileged to have her as a friend. :)

A lot of us don't have anything else to do though , we have no choice but to bother young ladies :)

I was thinking "stalker, but sure, whatever works for ya... ;)

Yes, the scary thing is that I have a job too, yet have similar hobbies...

I know you were thinking stalker, that was the point in not mentioning it ;)

Jobs and hobbies, sometimes they overlap and that is a happy day, but usually they don't. I don't really like stalking people, far too much effort with little pay-out at the end. I would however like to be a PI (private investigator) just so I could legally takes shots at women with a 600mm lens  (that came out a little worse sounding that I intended).

Come now, you know I'm only kidding....*intro scary music*....or am I? It is halloween today afterall, I'm dressed up as an internet-stalker :p Just today though, tomorrow I go back to being a regular IRL-stalker  ;)

Scary pic :)

Just for Halloween, a scary picture of a band I was in many moons ago...

Yeah, Mars has been featured in a few WWI and WWII documentaries so it definitely has that imperial air to it. Wait a minute. You're in the symphony, too, ~Shard~? I call BS on that one. I doubt you'd have time for working out in the gym, stylin' the ladies (or "lady" now), and keeping your trombone chops up to snuff.

Spankenrear, what kind of tunes does your band play? I suppose I'd find out if I clicked the link, eh? (That Keith's poster behind you got me salivating.)

Oh, and katie, nice attire. Are you supposed to be a great white or mako or what? Nurse shark, maybe?

Motley Crue meets The Blair Witch Project. ;) Oh, the eighties were grand weren't they? (Wait a minute...how many moons ago?)

And you're the guy on the far right. Right?

No BS, my friend - you know me, Jack of All Trades (Master of None?) ;)

I played clarinet in the Symphony from when I was 12 until I was 19 actually, but then university got in the way. Actually, my choice going into university was between Music Performance and Electronics Engineering. ;) Now that I'm done with school and working though, I still play with the Symphony from time to time, when they need me.

If you like, I could scan in a recent programme to prove it. Or a picture of me with the Maestro, or my clarinets, or... :p

Yeah, music has been a huge part of my life - I owe a lot to it...

Alright, alright. Clarinet. Yeah, that sounds familiar. You've likely mentioned that before. Yeah, music's cool. I use to love playing Mars in the military band back in the day. I played bari sax so I got to do the Jaws-like part over and over again. Funny thing is I never got bored of it. That 5/4 piece is interesting.

My apologies for doubting, fellow woodwind player. ;)

Heh heh - no worries my friend! Yes, the meter of 5/4 (interspersed with 5/2 as well) is really neat. It shouldn't fit, but it fits! ;) Very cool piece, looking forward to playing it - not until May though... :(
