MacPro update with Blu-Ray
New Displays
Updated MB, MBA, MBP
Updated iMac
32GB iPhone, discontinued 8GB
New Computer of some sort
New MacMini

A new CEO?

I predict a new product, something bigger than iPhone but smaller than a subnotebook :D

• no more combo-drives
• 100€ price slashes to every mac
• mac tablet
• announced expansion of itunes movie rental service
• blu-ray±rw in mac pro, macbook pro, 24" imac
• one more thing...
• announcing expansion of app store to have apps for macs too

In order, Blu-ray? No. Nehalem Mac Pros? Yes.
New displays? Nope.
The MacBook and MacBook Pro are going to be updated this month. We will, however, probably see an Air update at MacWorld.
The iMac... nah.
The 32GB iPhone will be released at the same time as the 64GB iPod touch.
New computer? Keep dreaming.
No new Mac Mini yet.

Heck, no, CEO!

You mean the MacTablet? Nope.

Still Combo Drives.
No price cuts.
No tablet yet.
Expansion to what?
No Blu-ray.
OS X App Store would rock.

Snow Leopard preview, more specific release date
iPhone OS mini-tablet
Apple home server?
iLife '09 + iWork '09
LED Cinema Displays
iPhone / Apple tv updates?
Atom Apple tv?

I think the possibility of a new CEO is out of the question, but someone to slowly take Steve Jobs place at the show, or multiple people wouldn't be out of the question. The guy is getting old, and he can really only keep going for another 10 years tops.

I think they probably will do Snow Leopard, but I don't think they will make a huge deal out of it, unless something has changed where they need to. I can see them charging much less for Snow Leopard than they have for their past OSes, maybe even giving a free download to people with Leopard.

Of course, Steve Jobs will say something that isn't all that serious or something that has been out in the industry for years but the reaction from Macrumors and the audience at the show will be like he just turned water into wine.

Macbook Air will not only get an update, but they will knock the price down ala iPhone and make early adopters feel like suckers all over again.

I think that most of the Macs this year will probably already get an update, other than MacPro.

On top of Macpro getting an update the sceens will get an update, being sold at the same prices they are now but with webcam, mic, and touch screen. Touch will then of course make way into all of Macs products within a year or so.

The Blu-ray option probably will be made available for the Macbook Pro, and Mac Pro, maybe the highend iMac.

In the mean time, they will probably give a "faux-touch" solution to current Mac users by using the the iSight camera in your computer so to not make people feel left out.

AppleTV they will either get serious about and do something useful with it, or they will ditch it like I would have before I even made the damn thing. I mean come on, it's useless. Add some Blu-Ray and DVR at the least and it will be good to go.

A new test program may be announced with mac mini being sold at Wal-Mart, perhaps even macbook..

See bold^^^

I agree it would be awesome, but I don't see any real world advantages of having a tablet, I honestly hope apple doesn't branch into too many different product lines, I like the simple product line they have at the moment, I'd rather not wake up one day to find an email for the apple itablet 2.0 mk7 2009 10.7 OSX edition...

I'd like to see a redesign of the nanos, really don't like the short and stumpy look...

No touch screen. Yeah did u not here how SL is not going to have any new features

definitely iMac

IF they dont put in a DVR they will dump it cuz it i junk. No way a disk drive
A new test program may be announced with mac mini being sold at Wal-Mart, perhaps even macbook..if they do i will go back to Alienware

To expend on your comments about the iMac:
I think they may make it more "media center-y" adding bigger sizes to allow it to be your TV

They might purposely change the GUI and add jazzy Core Animation effects just so people would pay $129. :D

Macbook Air will not only get an update, but they will knock the price down ala iPhone and make early adopters feel like suckers all over again.
$1499 for better specs than the current $1799 MacBook Air. This will probably happen in September or so.

Touch will then of course make way into all of Macs products within a year or so.
Nope. Not unless it's a dedicated tablet.

* New Mac Pro is inevitable
* Snow Leopard will be a $69 upgrade, or $149 with MobileMe
* New ACDs, with 2 DVI ports, supporting HDCP (like it or not)
* HDCP support through Snow Leopard. The new 64-bit GPU drivers will include HDCP support on their end, and the OS will provide a secure video data path. iTunes DRM won't be changed.
* I could see an AppStore for OSX. It's great for small developers, and will make the iPhone -> Mac transition easier for developers getting used to Cocoa. Apple will enable applications to be installed on the iPhone from a dedicated application covering both OSX and the iPhone. Fantastic, but possible. De-clutter the iTunes store, and perhaps use the application to simplify enterprise and beta software deployment.

No more touch in the OS. Doesn't make sense to combine screen and input device when the screen is so big and heavy. Does make sense when the screen is relatively small (as in the iPhone). Even the MT trackpads were a bit of a push in terms of usefulness. If an API is released, they'll probably come to the MacBooks as well. It's an additional input method for those apps that benefit from it. Those apps are rare, and not worth a major change of the hardware and OS.

Does anyone want to make bets about Touch making it into macs? You think they just made everything all glass because they love the Earth? lol

Macworld 2009 Registration?

Does anyone know when will the registration for Macworld '09 begin? I was under the impression it was supposed to be today?

It does start today but the registering link isn't up yet .... wait a day then check .. If not up by then contact Macworld by using this...

Many thanx iPhil. I know its a bit early, but I REALLY DO have a busy schedule for the next few months including the MW '09 period, and I usually prefer to finish with such dealings ASAP :p

Macworld 09 Rumors

Here is what I speculate:

Call me crazy, but
-- iPhone will go to Verizon Wireless in 09. there are lots of articles out there that state this. Many say they are hammering out the details now.(for those of you who say that they wont cause its not CDMA, thats crap cause other countries use CDMA not 3G on iPhone.)

-- Well learn more about Snow Leopard, like release date and such.
-- Maybe an update of Mac Mini, but i doubt it as one person said, "Its Apples lost child."
-- iMac update? mabye to look like the new cinema displays or at the least the keyboard will now have black keys and maybe a black mouse to match the aluminum and black look.
-- more storage space on iphone?? Doubtful.

My personal opinion...The only thing I hope for it the iPhone on Verizon. I have been wanting that since the begining and Verizon blew their first chance. I hope Steve gives them a second shot.

  • Mention of Mac's 25th Anniversary (1984-2009)
  • More details on Mac OS X v10.6 "Snow Leopard"
  • Release of iPhone and iPod touch software version 2.2
  • 32GB iPhone and maybe a 64GB iPod touch
  • A reskinned and slightly beefed-up Apple TV
  • Refreshed iMac
  • Refreshed Mac Pro
  • New Cinema Displays like the 24" LED display
  • A reskinned and slightly beefed-up Mac Mini
  • One more thing: All new 17" MacBook Pro (maybe with MultiTouch)

BTW there has been a report somewhere that states that Steve Jobs will be at Apple for the forseeable future, so I think it's unlikely that he will be resigning as early as the beginning of next year.

Yes, I can see all of these product announcements, and possibly some iTunes music store additional features. But remember the event will mark the 25th anniversary of the Macintosh, so maybe there is going to be "one more thing"?

Then again, back in '04 Steve remarked that he company will observe the 20th anniversary of the Mac over the entire year, and what exactly happened? Hmmm ...

No country uses the iPhone on CDMA. Such an iPhone doesn't exist.

Oh yeah, that too - a mention of the Mac's 25th anniversary!

-Massive disappointment, MacRumors members yelling and screaming with pitchforks
-Snow Leopard details + "vague" release date
-iPhone 2.2 software
-Maybe
-20" and 30" LED Cinema Displays
-17" LED MacBook Pro
That is all.

I say the following:

Snow Leopard: This will be the main focus of the event
iPhone: Software update version 2.2

If there is a Mac Pro update I think it will be like how they did it this year. Release a week or two before the event with no fan fair etc.

My tu'pence worth:

  • Lots of Snow Leopard talk, expected release date, enough to excite everyone, but not enough real meaty stuff. This'll keep everyone clamouring for more
  • iLife 09 with some clever way to get DV into iMovie without firewire on a macbook.
  • Logic (and maybe other pro apps) with multitouch so I can move around zoom/pinch, and scroll about in logic.
  • Displays with iSight and Minidisplayport
  • Mac Pro & iMac maybe with Minidisplayport outputs?
  • A Mac Mini update (come on, they gotta discontinue it or update it by january it's very long in the tooth)
  • Finally my f**kin' new 17" MBP I'll have been waiting for for for 3 months. It'll come out about 3 months before I have to go and pay another £50 for the Snow Leo update! It probably won't be able to take 2 HDDs though in RAID which is what I'd like, but I'll still be nice!
  • Optional Blu-ray in somethings
  • No 8GB iPhone, but new 32GB iPhone and/or price drops.
  • 64GB Touch
  • Maybe something to be able to switch between video adapters on the fly in a MBP, but this may have to wait til snow leopard.
  • An iHat, which is like a cap crossed with iPod, and has a fold down peak so you can watch movies on it. Or you can wear it backwards to look "cool" and play offensive videos to people following you down the street. And it has a propeller on the top so you can fly over the crowds of kids hanging round the iPods at the front of the apple store on a saturday to get to the genuis bar at the back.
  • Firewire will be removed from everything, and it will be sold with only 1 mini-USB port which you'll have to buy a special £200 :apple: iHub to connect anything to it.
  • No netbook. Just cuz Steve Jobs wants to p*** people off for a laugh.
