Just search for "Madden '08 Mac" on Amazon and you'll find it. I also cancelled my order with the Apple Store and ordered from Amazon. Amazon is cheaper (no tax and free shipping) and more reliable. However, it wasn't cheaper in this case because I selected next day shipping making the cost equal to Apple's price (with tax and 2nd day air). But at least I now know it will definitely be here by Monday. :) Might have been as much as another week through the Apple Store.

Wish I had noticed this yesterday. I guess Madden isn't an Apple Store exclusive like the first four EA Mac titles were. Hike! :)

Pn,
I'm sure all here would really appreciate a feedback post of how it runs on your machine, once you get it up and running? I know I would. If you can please include your system specs too.

Many thanks,

Jim

Well, received it and really have had a lot of fun with it!! Controls a little different than when I played the PC version a few years ago. If you the Mighty-Mouse there are instructions for adjusting for the Right hand Button you need to do. I have an IR Logitech mouse so no problem there. Everything running by default and nice looking screens and fluid plays. Only problem is when you register or try to the first time does not show a "Mac" for an option and when I go to the "ea.onlignregister.com" it has the Mac but will not take my game code. I know its right since I have to use it to play the game the first time. There is also some Roster mistakes. Only one so far but "Lefttwich" is in ATL not Jax anymore. Other than that I rate this one pretty good so far!! Now "Back To The Game!!".....

Bill,

What screen resolution are you running at? Is the frame rate smooth. What graphics card to you have in your MBP?

Jim

Running it in default which set everything at;

1024*768*32

I have an ATI1600 with 256M Ram along with 2G System Ram on a 2Ghz Processor.

As I said in another message only one Roster Spot Noticed so far but I assume there are others. Have not checked out Atlanta yet to see if Vick is in that Roster. Only problem is registering the product with EA to get info on updates. My main question would be since this is running with "Cider" would the PC Updated Rosters if any would work on the Mac. Any ideas? Hope this info helps! Played a good game earlier under "Coach" Mode and I liked that pretty well. Also used the normal mode where you control the players and I would suggest doing a "Practice" session first to get used to the controls on the Key+Mouse if you use that combo. I like both modes so far.

Bill,

Many thanks. I have a Mac Pro 2.66 with 5G and Nvidia 7300GT is the reason I was asking. Sounds like its running pretty well on your machine so far. I bought NFSC and ended up taking it back to the Apple store for a refund, I could not get it to run at all on my system, nor could I get any help from EA either.

my copy should be here monday or tuesday according to apple store. i had preordered through apple but, checked amazon and apple was still cheaper. also picked up the logitech cordless rumblepad 2 from amazon and got that yesterday from amazon. plugged it in and it worked fine.

i would imagine it should play pretty smooth. madden isn't too graphics intensive at all. personally i have the previous version imac 24", 2.16 core duo, nvidia 7300 and 3GB of RAM and epect it to run fine. i will try to run it at max resolution not expecting any issues though.

if PC rosters aren't compatible i would imagine update in the next week or 2.

i'll keep you guys posted on how it runs on my imac here. hoping it runs nice on this massive screen and i have my audio out running into a vintage reciever to some vintage british mission bookshelves and an onix x-sub. sound alone will smoke oridinary desktop setups. would be really nice to have great graphics to match the audio.

Mine is running fine so far. But will advise as play more and try all the features. from running on mine I am pretty sure that those with better specs it will run better for them. But at the moment I am quite pleased. I agree EA has so far not updated the site for registration as such. But given that the game was just released for us will cut them some slack. Hopefully as more use the programs (Not just Madden) that follow-on support will follow. But from previous experiences with EA when I had like Madden 2004 it was lacking. Still woul like to hear from others of their experience and of being able to possibly use the PC Updates for the Roster since this is a Cider Port. Thanks Much!!

Ok got Madden '08 today and I've just been playing with it for about 90 minutes. I'm pretty impressed so far. I'm playing it at 1280x800x32 with everything on high except for shadows which are set to low. I've also been playing it in a window. Smooth as silk. No crashes yet. If there's any problems with Cider I don't see any (yet) with this title. It looks and plays great! :)

The only snag so far has been the previously mentioned registration problem. They don't yet show "Mac" as an option. No biggie because it doesn't prevent you from playing or anything but hopefully they fix that.

awesome news as we have the same setup except i have 3GB of RAM. have you tried running it a the imacs full resolution? or is 1280*800 the highest rez setting in the actual game?

I posted a ticket on this at EA. If you go to the EA Sports site and go thru that registration page it does list the Mac with Madden08. But my code off the back of the manual is not valid according to EA. But the game registered fine on my Computer so I think there is still a glitch with that. I wanted to register to get any updates (LOL) from EA. Previous versions was not well supported. But, like another reviewer works just fine. I also tried it at the 1400*900*32 Res (I think that right) and it works fine that way also. Good Game so far!!

There's several different settings. I believe 1900X1200 is the highest. Haven't tried it yet but I'll give it a shot.

great news then. i will definitely fire it up at full resolution tomorrow and see how it goes. anyone else using a cordless gamepad? i can't do keyboard on sports games- just hoping the rumblepad 2 works well. i don't care about the vibration though. although the vibe did work when i installed the usb rceiver for the gamepad.

looks like buyers of woods 08 aren't having as good of luck though...

thanks for all the info. i'm not a huge gamer like i was when i used to custom build PC's (who has the time anymore?) but, it is nice every now and then to pop in a game that you can enjoy... will report back in a couple days of playing to give my impressions as well.

PN,
Thanks for the post and the link. It's interesting, since there a a few folks that can not get TW 08 to run on their new IMac's with similar configurations.

Glad to hear that you are having a good experience with Madden 08.

Jim

Yeah, I'm sorry to hear that. I have no idea what the problem they are having is unless it has something to do with those ATI cards?

I just tried Madden '08 at 1900X1200X32 with everything on high but shadows, which are set to low. Ran flawlessly. Still no crashes either. Go figure. :)

Madden and TW both at the Apple Store today

I found both Madden and Tiger at my local Apple store in Bethesda, MD today. The website now shows 24 hours available for both.

Can you guys play windows os players? That is my big time question. I play in a league and would love to use mac 24/7 instead of having to go to windows to play this game.

got home from work and my copy was waiting for me at the door. popped it in... running it at 1900 x 1200 resolution everything at full detail and it runs very smoothly. no issues so far at all. seems good to go. looks great on the huge imac screen.

Can you provide your system specs for us, video card, etc.
