I am running Madden 08 and the game is awesome although the using the keyboard sucks. I got this MadCatz controller but it isn't working. It seems like it needs to be calibrated but I can't find a way to do that. If anyone has figured it out, please let me know.
The game freezes sometime too. I can play fine for a while and then it'll just seize up.
Also, the online features aren't working yet, but I read somewhere that they're on it.
Anyways, really hoping someone can help me figure this out.
Thanks,
Dreamberg
I'm running a 17" Mac Book Pro with 2GB Ram. The game runs alright although it freezes more than it should. The problem is the MadCatz controller within the game. The controller works fine when I test it in freeware testing programs, it just freaks out in the Madden game.
does the game freeze? or does it freeze your whole computer and you have to do a hard restart?
try running your pro for a little while with one of the side panels removed. just put the open tower somewhere where it can't get kicked or anything. i know it sounds dumb but, i used to be a PC (forgive me) tech for many years. this was the simplest way for me to determine if a computer was overheating. it's a stab in the dark but, it'll take you 30 seconds to pop that side panel off and it's an easy free way to troubleshoot. it may not be the computer itself that is overheating but, the vid card itself overheating running the game. but getting more air in there may tell you if it is at least an overheating issue or not. if it does help you may check to see if the vid card is caked with dust, if the card heatsink is bad, etc...
Something is wrong with the port. I'm glad I haven't bought it.
It hasn't locked up once in XP (running Boot Camp) since I bought it in August.
Was this port by Aspyr or MacSoft?
if you have had a little success with blowing out the case insides then i would wager it is a heat issue. maybe on the card itself.
tried playing after installing Leopard and ALL the text is totally screwed up. Since EA's website doesn't even really acknowledge the Mac as a platform I'm kinda at a loss. Hopefully they figure something out soon, I'll post here if i find anything.![]()

strange, my white imac is playing it just as good since i installed leopard. FWIW i did a erase and install and imported my user settings and apps back in with migration tool.
Did you do that from another Mac or a backup of your system prior to your install of Leopard? Currently I have my "Tiger" backed-up with "Superduper". I did that prior to installing Leopard. I wonder if I can use Migration Tools to use with my Back-Up since I made it bootable and its on my Firewire....strange, my white imac is playing it just as good since i installed leopard. I have a MBP with 2G Ram which has the ATI1600 256MB of Ram. I backed up to a "500G WD MY Book" my "TIGER" which included all files and the last thing it did was make it bootable. Its connected thru my Firewire. So if I did a clean install and used the Migration Tool (Is this on the Disk or In Utilities?), I would connect the My-Book thru the Firewire to the MBP and then use the Migration Tool to pull all the data from there or would I need to use Superduper? Thanks!!it may be an issue with the ati cards- is your mac an aluminum imac? i have read the jumbled text error reports quite a few of the new imacs- which i guess have the ati chip in them?
to answer you thoughts though: yes do clean erase and install. when migration pops up you can either choose import settings from another drive or another mac. if you are going to choose "another mac" you need to turn off your external that has superduper on it and then turn it back on and migration will read it as another mac. but using the import from another drive should work just as well. you can choose to reimport- settings- user profile- apps and docs.
I just did a clean reinstall and deleted Madden and the plist files. Is there anything else to remove from a Tiger Build I should remove prior to re-installing? Any word from Apple or EA?
