Just received mine on the Gold Coast, Australia. It said delivery by 22/4 (via StarTrack) on the website but just got a knock on the door from the delivery man here at 6:15pm. It’s a nice surprise. :)

What does you Synview tracking say? Mine still says not with carrier.

Thanks

So, I just got my Magic Keyboard! It is really heavy, but I think it is ok. It weighs 760gr (for the 12,9“ model). On the lap it can be used and it is very stable. My first impression is that the keyboard is nice, but the iPad is very close to it. I will have to test it more. I have somehow the feeling that I would touch the screen by accident instead of typing. I would appreciate a little bit of space between the keyboard and the iPad. The feeling of the keys is great though. I like it a lot.

Just a quick update: The iPad Pro 12,9 together with the magic keyboard weigh 1,34Kg. It is still ok for me. Not as bad as I thought it would be. The viewing angle is really good, so no complains there, especially when used on the lap.. When used on the office it is also very good. I think I will love this.

Those who are getting their Magic Keyboard in the coming days, enjoy guys! Let us know what you like most about it and also what you don’t like about it as you use it!

Nice, you happy with trackpad size? Seems fine to me. Wasn’t sure if the 12.9 would be bigger or not.

It is a little bit smaller than the trackpad on a Surface Pro. Actually I can make a picture comparing the two. The MacBook Pro has definitely a better and bigger trackpad.

Easy to forget how big the trackpad is on the MacBook Pro.

First impressions are decent for me so far. Some might be surprised about the limited tilt, you can't really tilt it backwards all that much but it's more than good enough for me. The thing I missed from the Smart Keyboard was the capability of having the display be more straight and the Magic Keyboard lets you have it at a 90-degree angel which it's a improvement for me.

It feels really sturdy. It's hard to say how the hinge will withstand over time but first impressions are solid. The keys feels really nice and are still silent, not as silent as the Smart Keyboard but you do not how the same hollow and mushy sensation. Now it feels like you are typing on actual keys.

The touchpad is really small and the lack of haptic feedback feels like a step backwards in time. It does improve on the user-experience quite a lot, more than I had thought beforehand. Pretty much the same arguments that Apple has against touch on the Mac is in motion when using keyboard on the iPad. In 99% of the scenarios it feels like a hassle having to reach out and touch the display for simple interactions, having the touchpad to help me navigate instead of having to reach out and touch the display is actually a great improvement.

The downsides for me thus far is the price, weight, size of the touchpad and the lack of haptic feedback.

There are also some annoyances that will hopefully improve with app updates. Like working within Microsoft Remote Desktop and suddenly you loose the ability to scroll using gestures on the touchpad so I have to use the arrow keys or reach out and touch the display.

But in the end the Magic Keyboard puts a rather awkward spin on things. For me it now comes down to whether you'd want a device that is touch-first and centered around and optimized for touch with a great app ecosystem (iPad) or whether you'd want a device th at is keyboard and touchpad-first and centered around and optimized for keyboard and touchpad and desktop applications (Mac).

One could argue that if you are going to use your iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard most of the time you could simply go with the new MacBook Air instead. For me it's more about the fact that with the iPad you get this great touch-first app ecosystem with it's own capabilities that you are able to utilize while retaining much of the notebook user-experience from the Mac when combining it with the Magic Keyboard. If you go with the MacBook Air you won't have any of the touch-first and app ecosystem capabilities what-so-ever. The iPad can easily be dettached from the keyboard etc..

Hopefully iPadOS will be able to push the iPad to become more like a notebook experience when used with the Magic Keyboard with iPadOS 14, 15 etc..

Suspect (hoping, rather) that some in the UK with DHL texts will have lived closer to the central warehouse, and they get the text when it gets to their local warehouse. Those further away (such as myself) the lorry with them all is still making its way to our local warehouse and we'll get the text soon.

....one can hope!

Otherwise it doesn't make sense... still PTS for me on the website, my confirmation email was 16:13.

Anybody in the UK who ordered a 12.9" US keyboard layout had any movement yet?

Waiting eagerly here....

I think it is probably more courier company dependent - all the ones that seem to have shipped so far are via DHL, so I wonder if ours (as I'm in the same boat as you) are coming via someone else and they just haven't entered the system yet. After all the DPD hub is pretty close to the Syncreon/Apple warehouse. At least that's what I'm hoping, as otherwise, like you say, it's all a bit odd.

Still stuck on PFS - I ordered literally the second it came back up yet no movement at all. 12.9 British version in UK
