Just picked up mine (12 Pro, sorry to the above) and the guy in the store wanted me to open and test it there and then. 0% battery (as heard about before here) - confirmed on his phone as well as mine.

Weirdly, we plugged it in to one of the display iPhone lightning cables and he said wait 5 minutes. I was impatient and waited only 3. I checked it and it showed over 20%. I don’t believe it really charged 20% in less than 5 minutes.

I can only think there’s some calibration that goes on after it is connected to power for the first time, and it might be best to wait a week or two before really measuring its performance?

Mine said 39 percent out of he box. Could just be luck of the draw, as you said, software taking a minute or two to "recalibrate" for the new battery to get an accurate reading.

When it wants to, it does like the old battery cases did where it will keep cutting on and off until it stays on or off. And it shows as a lightning cord image on the battery widget. I reported to Apple already. It wants to charge but will only show it is sometimes. And I actually haven't seen my battery percentage go up at all. The case says 100% but my phone battery stayed at 71% after 1 hour of keeping the case on. It may literally need whatever support Apple put in iOS 14.7 which is not in 15 beta 3.
Mine is doing that on 14.7.

iPhone battery just went from 82 to 70 while the battery pack stayed at 100.

Hmmm

Dumb question: Don't judge please.

Does anyone know how to change the Magsafe Battery pack? How do you know it's fully charged without being connected to the phone? does the light turn green?
Charge it by connecting to the Lightning port or connect it your phone that is magsafe and charge the phone. It will charge both your phone and the magsafe battery. It will have a brief amber when its charging and when its fully charged it will turn green briefly.

That is so not useful. Unless you are standing there the whole time it’s charging you’ll never know if it’s fully charged without unplugging it or attaching it to your phone.

Yea unfortunately thats how apple did it so complain to apple lol. I wish the green light would stay but its like airpods charging case. I wish you could tap twice to check status.

The two ways to charge it are from the iPhone through MagSafe and from a Lightning cable plugged in. I don't see how it could be charged wirelessly by itself.
Because it does when it’s on the phone that’s connected to lightning. glaring miss

Got my battery today, here is my result, attached to the phone without a case.

Phone in airplane mode, lowest brightness, not used during charging.
Left battery to fully charge for 2 hours after taking out the box.
Both phone and battery only slightly warm during charging, but the phone was not been used.

After 1 hour

iPhone Mini from 20% to 56%

Battery from 100% to 66%

After 2 hours

iPhone Mini from 56% to 78%

Battery from 66% to 36%

At 3 hours

iPhone Mini from 78% to 91%

Battery from 36% to 16%

The next test will be Charing the phone from 20% while in use tomorrow.

My experience today. Allowed phone to fall to 20%, then attached charger. Continued to use phone.

The charger cannot charge the phone as quickly as I can drain it by using it. It can slow down the battery drain, but not reverse it.

So you either have to put the charger on before 20% or you have to give the phone a rest.

I had a feeling that will happen, already experienced with MagSafe charger making the phone too warm and drains the battery while in use.

funnily enough the app I used before called amperes does not recognize the MagSafe battery pack as being plugged in and keeps telling my device is unplugged, very interesting. I know it states this charges at 5w MagSafe and 15w wired but still, my experience with MagSafe charging has been shady AF with getting 2.5w most of the time.

I wish it had USB C. It would be nice to have an option of either using USB C to charge directly, or using a lightning cable to reverse charge with the pack attached.

Ahhh I just ordered it. Not sure if it's a waste of $100.00 :(. Will test it out today :)

How would you use lightning to charge your iPhone 15 Pro Max Plus though?

Will anyone be keeping this on the phone and using daily ? Seems to hold very well with no movement at all, much better than the wallet

I’m doing it today without a case, so far the only annoying part is the battery twisting when using the volume key while holding the phone with left hand.

iPhone Mini is down from 80% to 54%. Battery is down from 100% to 77%. With 3 hours of usage, Youtube and web browsing.

P.S. The phone and battery is not warmer than normal. I’m guessing the battery is push 3w to the phone.

Do I understand it correctly ? You were using your phone with MagSafe battery pack and the phone lost the battery while being charged by MagSafe battery pack ?
