No friend, it's a gimmick.. That's what betas are for.

Why do you think it took "Things" so long to release the final product with cloud service? They were in beta for a long time, slowly giving out invites so they could scale their servers properly.

Mailbox's reservation system is all gimmick, all marketing.

And it seems to be working. #hype

I just don't see the point. It's basically a way to make emails a task list. Seems pointless for us in the business world. Calendars and task list go together. Not email.

I might be way off here.

At the speed it is going it will take me atleast a month to get the app activated... I think I might lose interest by that time.. lol...

I remember when Gmail came out and people were selling their invites on E-bay.

I wouldn't be surprised if that happens with Mailbox app.

You can't. It's tied to your gmail.

No it's not. You enter you gmail account after you get to your spot in line. I gave my wife my second reservation (around 44,000), a reservation that was sent to my gmail account. She got the "mailbox is ready" notification, entered her gmail info and she was good to go.

I've been using it since Friday afternoon, love it. It's on my homescreen (got in early.. only has 4,000 people in front of me, that went quick).. its worth the wait.

You can use SEED in the app store until then

I still have 43,946 ahead of me :(

Hope they pick up the pace soon or I'm on track for another 2 days at least before I can use it.

Got on it this morning (57,000 on launch day). Love it so far. May not be for power users but great for the rest of us. Other than the read later function there isn't anything you can do in other clients (labeling, archiving, deleting). But the gestures do save you a tap or 2 each time. Overall its a clean, simple, and elegant app. A couple more features and I'll be pretty content with it as a mobile email client.

The support helped me and I'm currently on 40K. ;)

What's wrong with the gmail app? it's perfect why would I need a fancy new client while gmail does it all and also includes gestures...

don't get me wrong this app has potential but it doesn't offer value to me I really use hotmail and outlook.com mail now (don't judge me outlook mail is amazing) and well this app launched without microsoft mail clients support

I downloaded the app on the first day but was too busy to bother with it. Today I saw this thread and decided to check if the reservation was automatic based on when you installed the app or if you had to run the thing to get in line.

759,000 which is about 10 days if they are activating one a second. It's pretty funny that if I close the app and come back a half hour later, the "people behind you" and "people in front of you" counters go crazy counting to their new values.

BTW, perhaps a mod could move this thread to iPhone and iPod Touch apps? There is no way a mailbox app thread belongs in jailbreaks and ios hacks.
