So I had a question as I'm patiently waiting (just under 50K at the moment)...

Can you sign into multiple Gmail accounts as it currently stands with mailbox? Or are you limited to 1 currently?

If you can sign into multiple accounts, are all messages shown in a single view or can you select which account you're looking at (ie separate view for each account)?

Yes, you can sign up with multiple accounts. All of them will be displayed in one view.

So close!

If you set up your GMail using Exchange before Jan 30th you will continue to be able to use it.

Does this mean forever, account-specific, like I'm grandfathered in? Or does it mean when I get a new phone, I won't be able to do it?

No, I'm not. And seriously, why are you being so lazy ? Contact their support ffs.Snorlax.

How do you know that I haven't? I did contact support, but I came here as well to see if anybody else had the problem.

Seems as though you are the typical ASSuming jerk.

Congrats! I got in at 3:30 this morning :) loving it so far

What happened after you hit zero ahead of you? The app just keeps showing zero and negative numbers for me and won't do anything else

I haven't read anything concrete but it seems like the general consensus is that it is device specific not account specific. I guess you could try adding the account to an iOS device you haven't activated on google sync before to see.

Starting January 30, 2013, users, other than paid Google Apps users, won't be able to set up new devices using Google Sync and should see our sync site for instructions. You can also consult with your device carrier or manufacturer for how they recommend to sync with Gmail, Google Calendar, and Contacts. Google Apps for Business, Education, and Government customers can continue to set up new devices with Google Sync after this date.

We're experiencing sync issues —please stay tuned.
We’re currently seeing intermittent issues with our servers syncing mail. We’ve paused filling reservations so that we can focus on a fix.
If you’re currently using Mailbox, you’re most likely seeing a message that says “Having trouble connecting, please try again soon.” Don’t worry, any messages that you take action on or any new emails you create should not be lost. Once we have resolved the issue your Mailbox will simply update and process all actions you’ve taken inside the app.
The team is working on resolving this now, and we’ll let you know as soon as we’re filling reservations again. We hope to get things moving shortly.
Thank you for your patience,
The Mailbox Team

Been out ~7+ hours. Another marketing ploy to pretend they can't handle the user load right?

Well I downloaded and after 3 days still half a million people before me so deleted :p. Cant believe I bothered in the first place, plenty of decent mail apps out there to use today

Cant argue with people frustrated but then again not sure why you would delete. If its a good app, you just sign up and in a week or two you get it. Its like signing up for notification when an app is released.

And to each his own with regards to all apps but this is def not like any other mail app. If you are big into the GTD movement and use Gmail (and like me pass other accounts through gmail) this app is unmatched right now (that i know of). By far the easiest way to blend email with GTD. And its still a 1.0 release.

Its not that you cant accomplish a similar thing with just the gMail app its that this app is specifically built around the workflow of email and GTD. Gmail is not. And hence this is more fluid and works better.

But like I said, to each his own. Every person's workflow is different and it will not work for everyone. And nothing its doing is not easily copied - at least as far as i can tell - so if it becomes successful watch how many clones comes out. That will tell you all you need to know.

That's funny you say that about the different send from addresses. This app is so good I fwd my iCloud to gmail and I just set up my work account to fwd as well. They are redirects so original sender remains. I use it to manage all the inbound / conversation flow and manage my tasks. I then use the iOS app to send non gmail. Turn off all notifications so just manage through mailbox.

FYI I use retinapad and iPhone version of app on my ipad. More than serviceable until native version released.

Hmm, interesting. Didn't even think about using the iPhone app with retinapad (I'm jaikbroken too). I think I'll try that. Thanks.

Went from 750K in front of me to 667K in front of me in a week.. This app better be good for this long of a wait. I have read mixed things about it, so don't know if its worth the wait.

I got in pretty early with the reservation (still ended up waiting about a week after the app was released before my reservation # was up...) and now that I've been using it for a few days I loooove it!

I asked earlier in the thread about account specific mailboxes, while someone did answer that they are displayed all in one view, that is mostly correct:
When you add more than one account, the unified inbox (where you see the daily instagram picture when you are at inboxzero) shows messages from all accounts, but if you swipe in from the left (or tap the menu button in the top left corner) you can go into specific inboxes for each account you've added.

For anyone that is curious, this app will allow you to sign into google hosted accounts with different @xxx.com/edu addresses (I have an email account hosted through google for my university, and signing into that account allowed it to be added to mailbox)...

I tend to use emails as a way to remind myself about things I need to do (go buy tickets for this airfare sale over the weekend, go reply to this person you met from your meeting etc) and while it works pretty easily on my desktop to just go look at unread or starred messages, from my phone, these quickly dropped out of view. For the way I use email, the 'snooze till later' aspect of mailbox is a godsend! I love being able to put off emails to be reminded about them later today, tomorrow, this weekend, etc. I can quickly clear out my inbox and still know I'll get reminders about the things I need to be reminded of, when I need to be reminded of them. This carries over to the web client of gmail [not sure about the desktop mail program (Mail.app OSX) I use, between my phone and iPad I'm only on the laptop once every couple of weeks] because the inbox will have messages that were snoozed reappear in the inbox at whatever time interval you specified.

Those are my thoughts, and as soon as support is added for other account types (and an iPad native app is released) I will be switching to this entirely as my mail client on iOS.

Features that would be nice to see in the future:
  • Folder support
  • Tags
  • Rules (ie daily messages about xyz that I know I read each evening are automatically snoozed until this evening based on sender address, subject line or whatever other criteria I'd set)
  • A web portal that shows you a similar view for all your messages (which would make setting up larger rules, bulk tagging and folders much easier, but we kinda already have Gmail.com for that I guess)

Hey guys is it just me or this doesn't have push notifications? I have enabled it in the app and the settings app. Just doesn't notify me when I get a mail.

It's just you. ;) Notifications are actually faster than the default ios mail app.
