Not a "major" retailer, but a regional fast food restaurant / mini-grocery: Braum's.

I was pleasantly surprised when I went in one for dinner earlier this week and saw that they accept NFC payments, including Apple Pay. Why was I surprised? Well, if you're not familiar with them, they're stuck in the 1980s (yes, this commercial still airs).

Just what I need -- another reason to grab a sundae. Thanks for the update!

Only some locations of Sprouts (I don't have 25 posts so can't edit wiki).

Thanks for the list though.

A lot of the Starbucks inside of other stores are not actually owned by Starbucks. For instance, the last time I was in a Barnes and Noble, they wouldn't take my Starbucks card for payment. They are licensed to use Starbucks products, logo, ect. So they can take other methods of payment that a real Starbucks won't. Even the ones inside Target are licensed vendors.

Was so surprised they had it when I went into Sprouts yesterday.

Harris Teeter - in all states? I know someone said Virginia, but what about NC? And is it available at the self-checkout or just regular cashiers?

Usually self checkouts are setup the same as regular registers because all self checkouts are, are registers with a user friendly front end. Back end it's all the same software cashier's use.

I haven't seen it at the self-checkouts at HT. I don't usually go through the regular checkouts.

What state? In AZ, they still have the ancient terminals.

San Diego, California. Well at least in their Pacific Beach store they have it, I would need to check out more in the area. I was just so surprised even to see it advertised on the "credit card kiosk" thing at the register (along with Google Wallet)

Good to know - I wonder what time my local Braum's closes. With the way this K-State vs TCU game is going I may need to go drown my sorrows in a big bowl of ice cream soon.

Didn't work at Michaels today. Passbook brought up the card and accepted the transaction, but the amount showed as "-", indicating that the charge didn't go through.

This particular store isn't listed in the MasterCard Nearby app as accepting contactless pay so I'm not surprised, not to mention that it's a MCX retailer.

Yes, it'll show "-" if your bank/card issuer doesn't support that feature. However, my Amex card does show the amount for all transactions and it was the only one with "-", clearly indicating that the transaction didn't go through with my particular Amex card. Otherwise, it would have shown the amount.

Wichita-bros! The one on the west side would close at 10:30, I know that because I had to grab milk late once. On your other point though, Rock Chalk. ;)

My local Sprouts Farmers market got NFC terminals as of yesterday! It seems places are popping up with NFC over night! And one I didn't expect, Turnsocket, a local motorcycle repair facility! I tell you Apple Pay and NFC as a whole finally got a much needed boost.

Also the one at my Sprouts even shows an Apple Pay and Google wallet logo right on the screen.

I haven't seen any shells. Have you downloaded the master card nearby app? Its very useful for nfc processing

The app is great but it's a little lacking as I know of many places that accept NFC, but aren't on the map. It's cool if you're looking for places though that take NFC

Thanks just downloaded the app. However it is showing CVS for contactless. Wish there was a way to only show Apple Pay.
