It worked at Eddie Bauer today...

in Columbus, Ohio (at Easton). The clerk didn't know if it would work and was surprised that it did - no problem. He then asked me where else it's working in town  .

Also, it worked at Meijer in Columbus a couple of days ago. This was at a store where it didn't work last week. It was even the same Self-Check register I think.

App idea

Wonder if my app would be rejected if I submitted a "Supports ApplePay" app? It could use geolocation to tell you there is a store nearby or perhaps the store you are in would popup with a notification. Use pin drops to show you nearby stores that support Apple Pay.

yathink?

Ive used it on vending machines at the Scott Air Force Base...felt strange to charge 1.50 to my credit card. My bank doesn't accept it yet.

I was at Wendys and they had a sign out saying you can pay with your phone, but looked like you have to download their app to pay.

Strange? Here in our side of the U.S., people charge 50 cents to CCs without even batting an eye. I rarely carry cash and when I do it's because somebody owed me money or gave me money.

I just always saw credit cards for large item purchases. That might be why I'm in debt :) if it only charged .50 , I would be ok

Can someone give details on why Sheetz is on the list? I've tried Apple Pay at 2 different locations without success. I think they fall into the Not Accepted category with CVS and Rite Aid.

I tried to use it at Macy's today. Only my Visa debit card showed up but not my MasterCard credit card, which is my go-to credit card. Why is this?

I can now confirm Apple pay is working perfectly at Arco/AmPm.

Second that, bought a car wash there, unfortunately the wash didn't do that great of a job.

Also, debit cards only here. You can still use Apple Pay, as long as it's a debit card, and you have to enter your PIN

I think it was working at one point. I moved it.

I was at a Jewel-Osco (a Midwest supermarket owned by Albertsons) today, and as I was doing self-checkout, I noticed that there was one of the newer Verifone screens/numberpads. I decided to hold my phone up to the screen just to see what would happen, and lo and behold, ApplePay activated, and I was able to pay for my groceries without pulling out my wallet! Not sure if this is in all of the stores yet though.

I just used it at Michael's and Rubios, and ARCO AMPM this morning. None of these places showed the NFC logo, except for ARCO.

I think not having the logo is going to be a usability nightmare!

Went to Walgreens last night. Perfect experience. I even signed up for one of their rewards programs, because I intend to shop there more often now. haha.

Additionally, can anyone confirm any gas stations that have NFC terminals at the pump? Per the mastercard app, there is NFC at the Kum & Go gas station, but I checked one next to the walgreens last night and there was no NFC at the pump. I realized they probably have NFC inside, but there's no way I'll go inside just for the "convenience" of using apple pay :p

Walgreen reward is a joke. They never give you any rewards. I have been using Walgreen app for 3 years and never got any damn rewards! :apple:

I've used :apple: Pay at my local Jewel/Osco (Algonquin, IL) twice so far without a problem. Once was the day that it went live- I did the same experiment you did and was happy with the result. On the :apple: Pay site, Jewel/Osco and some other related brands (Shaw's and Star Market) are now listed as official partners.

My office max just got new terminals yesterday! Very nice huge screen. NFC works kind of. They payment goes through on the POS terminal, though is still declined as the manager said they still need the new cash registers/computers for NFC to work, should be there by the end of the year.

Same thing happened to me today. The cashier said their computers were too old, but also told me that Wells Fargo cards with their terminals have been hit and miss with ApplePay

This was also the case with my local Staples. After they upgraded to new computers, Apple pay worked flawlessly there. Their old computers were ugly and beige, and their new ones are black and sleek.
