I shop at Walmart like this. I scan my items in the app and bag up as I go. Once I’m finished shopping, I go to self checkout, scan the QR code and pay through the walmart app.Are self serve checkouts like these common in the US?
These have been in most supermarkets in the UK since around 2009 and have increased even more so since covid. I usually self scan items and bag up as I go around the store, upload the total on these via a QR code that you scan with the hand held scanner, than ApplePay on the terminal. Makes shopping so much easier.

yes almost every supermarket in the US has self checkout just like that. It’s also starting to become increasingly common in Mexico. Are self serve checkouts like these common in the US?

Yes, I am not aware of any other Kroger subsidiary in Arizona... I'm in the Phoenix metro area... maybe my store is just late to the party, but no dice, as of about 7:30 this morning.Another person just said they used it in Arizona, and as far as I know the only Kroger stores in Arizona is Fry's.
@dontwalkhand mentioned to me that the Fry's in downtown Phoenix and in Scottsdale had it turned on today.Yes, I am not aware of any other Kroger subsidiary in Arizona... I'm in the Phoenix metro area... maybe my store is just late to the party, but no dice, as of about 7:30 this morning.
I was out and about today, so I spent some time ISO Fry's w ApplePay turned on... tried two in Peoria (western suburb) and one in north Phoenix -- none had it turned on... maybe they're rolling it out behind me checking.@dontwalkhand mentioned to me that the Fry's in downtown Phoenix and in Scottsdale had it turned on today.
I’m in the West Valley and I suspect it may not be switched on yet in my neck of the woods. I’ll report back this week! Stay tuned…..I was out and about today, so I spent some time ISO Fry's w ApplePay turned on... tried two in Peoria (western suburb) and one in north Phoenix -- none had it turned on... maybe they're rolling it out behind me checking.
Will continue checking the opportunity presents itself.
It’s definitely turned on in my two Fry’s I regularly go to. Downtown Phoenix Fry’s as well as Scottsdale.
Yet, it’s still not turned on in their app for grocery pickup! Half win maybe?Stopped at a Fry's in north Phoenix and Apple Pay worked... shopped in the grocery and the Apple Pay notification said "Fry's Fuel Center"... #takeTheWin

100% win I’d say. The announcement was about turning on contactless at Kroger and affilates’ physical stores, not about accepting apple pay online in their apps and/or websites. The latter might still take a while longer.
Someone said AMC theaters are accepting contactless now. Can anyone verify?
I can, I used it at concessions and even to buy a ticket in person.Someone said AMC theaters are accepting contactless now. Can anyone verify?
They probably even can get rid of “Food Stores” from their branding now since Fry’s electronics is now dead and there wont be anymore confusion.Went to my regular Fry's today... one of the stores that wasn't working on Monday... used Apple Pay, no problems... and the Apple Card reported the transaction at "Fry's Food Stores"... life as it should be.
They do offer Fry's Fuel Centers... and Fry's Pharmacy... plus there's the whole web domain thing and rebranding... not sure Kroger wants to spend that kind of money... but, who knows...They probably even can get rid of “Food Stores” from their branding now since Fry’s electronics is now dead and there wont be anymore confusion.
Great, thanks.I can, I used it at concessions and even to buy a ticket in person.
No it was a terminal at the register in the lobby. Wasn't there the time we went before that. But I bet it was via a QR or app. US restaurants usually refuse to process payments at the table using wireless card readers. They’ll do anything but that.
