In the end, didn't expect nothing, because nothing was released apart from the same opening systems with new wallpapers. but hey we got new Animoji customisations

In the end, clearing out your double negative, you expected everything and anything and that just somehow didn’t materialise in 11 years if iPads so far.

And they did release their usual polish as listed in the post you quoted.

In a van down by the river
This is not an acceptable defense of a lackluster update. It's not on us to compile an iPadOS 15, it is on Apple to bedazzle us - by any means necessary, which they overwhelmingly didn't. Unless you've just been jonesing for widgets on the Home Screen, something that came last year for iPhone, and gaslight yourself into thinking it hasn't already been revealed and implemented long ago: this update is a bust.
It's not on Apple to bedazzle you. We are talking software for the masses not a carnival ride.

To an extent it is a carnival ride. Why else would the WWDC kick off with a crowd of memojis, or Craig punching it in gear in a convertible like James Bond, or Apple showing screenshare to watch Netflix with friends? Or Tim coming out on stage with the Disney+ icon just over his shoulder on the background silver screen?

When people hunker down all this cash for an M1 strapped iPad, they don't expect more of the same. Especially when Tim Cook descends from the ceiling like he's Ethan Hunt to make it happen.

This is all marketing, but Apple's intention is far from 'software for the masses.' And for all the 'hoopla' its been a big miss.

--

Blind excitement and giddiness is to be nearly universally applauded here on MR, for a looming big release / roadmap of what the next year of using the devices will look like, but disappointment alternatively is to be scolded because 'what were you excited about in the first place?' is revisionist history of invalidating excitement because the goods weren't delivered, doesn't really work.

I am saying your focus is off. When it comes to software, you shouldn't want a carnival ride. You should want security and ways to make your use and workflow easier. Not every feature is going to be for every person.

Apple has, since their inception perhaps, far been off the mark from being sterile in their approach for utility, and we all know this. Otherwise why would (some) people every single year load beta firmwares on their primary devices and roll the dice, if not for excitement? Were they really unable to proceed with their workflow until yesterday? Or other releases?

A major iOS release isn't just 'here's more security' or we'd call it iOS 14.8 and not have an event. Security is important, but that's stuff that should be melting in the background so much so it isn't even a thought. Average Joe shouldn't even know or care what comes with s ecurity updates they should just trust they're using a safe platform as long as they do their part.

Excitement from the bells and whistles, and well lubed machine are what it's all about, otherwise we'd all just use clunky business Windows machines, pedestrian budget Android phones and tablets, hell even Archos Jukebox's back in the day instead of iPods, and put a lid on it. And save a lot of money in the process. We aren't buying a car to get to A to B, exclusively, or we'd all drive the same car. For some that's the case, granny just uses an iPhone until it breaks because it's what granny knows to call the grandkids, she'd use tin cans with string if it got the job done - but for most, especially most on MR, it's the same reason there's different colors, trims, configurations, engine sizes, car classes, manufacturers, etc. etc.

Whatever floats your boat mate, if you’ve got nothing better to do than replying to previous post.

Maybe get a hobby, or go outside and get some fresh air.

*sigh* Wishing the public beta was out now so I can evaluate the changes (particularly in Safari) and check for app incompatibilities.
It’s pretty easy to install the developer beta profile if you’re interested and anxious to get the updates sooner. I put it on my 11” Pro and it basically immediately bricked it, so I came back to 14.6. Lol.

Yeah, I know you can (did that for 14 to get Scribble support right before a training session). I don't have a time critical need for 15 though so reckon I'll just wait for the public beta.

Wow some nice reflections from the person who send us about 4000 messages on maybe 3 topics. Thanks for putting your money where your mouth is.

Now now kids. Play nice. Lol. All of us can be very vocal about what gets us excited or disappointed.

Lets have some coffee, tea, pop, juice, or water and sit down at a cafe 10 miles apart, and using our iPads to communicate with each other….

Oh wait. Already doing that in reality in my case ???? and its thousands of miles apart. ??

Hey @LFC2020 I appreciate your passion. I know not everyone else does but I know you meant well. You had a ton of hope for an overhaul and it just didn’t happen…. Yet. Heck, it may not ever. I get where you are coming from. I enjoyed your enthusiasm with all of the hope you had. Makes sense the let down would hit you hard.

Hopefully the next update will be more of a revamp.

For now, we get to enjoy some new features (we should have already been enjoying but whateves)!

iPad will never be a do it all computer! I personally love my air 4 and I'm stoked for the new multitasking, widgets and safari security upgrades! you put yourself on the emotional rollercoaster of expectations, and only you can get yourself off! good luck!

Maybe it’s a good thing they doing iOS first.. get us even more hyped waiting For the iPadOS news :)
The new iPadOS I believe it will work on my iPadPro 2017, and I hope it will introduce more "Pro" features. Do not see a reason to upgrade to the M1, the Pad can already handle all the stuff I throw at it when it comes to playing music.

I Have the 11 inch M1 and I love how portable it is. I have had to send the 12.9 M1 to get fixed and still undecided if to keep it if they fix it or return for a refund. the tasks I can do on the iPad so I guess it can do. Two iPads might be overkill but I think suits Depends on when the usage.

There is NO getting off when it comes to the PRO feature denial game Apple is playing. Real PROS are waiting with open wallets.

Guess it’s the same with iPhone and iPad then.

Man was I glad when Apple stopped their denial game and delivered the AirPods Pro- as a real pro I was waiting with open wallet.
