I have many times and it works using OCLP.
If the install hangs up for more than 30mins, I do a hard restart.
The trick is to keep trying until you get to a desktop.

Thanks. Tired of hangs and restarts, I used other approach. Installed 11.5.2 in a native supported mac, using an external SSD. Then I switched off before completing the last setup. Wrote the OC to EFI ans restarted from it in my Mac Pro 5,1. Then migrated the user.

Worked at first.

I didn't understand if OC fixes original Bluetooth card functionality, or if we need to buy an extra card to have bluetooth working (no handoff's, only for using Magic Mouse).

You will ALWAYS need that "extra" modern card. But even with that , it does not work on patched Catalina, at least in Mac Pro´s. With OC it does work.

I'm a bit confused, because original Bluetooth card works perfectly with Catalina on my MacPro (it did with Dosdudes patched Catalina, and it does now with OpenCore). I thought problems will happen with BigSure but now if I didn't misunderstand you, as I've not replaced my BT card, it shouldn't work with Catalina too.

Look at the 3 "No" in your System Information.

This is mine...

Please, gentlemen, let's not take this thread beyond its intended purpose. OpenCore is NOT intended to magically add hardware capabilities to old Macs; only to make them appear as supported to the OS that is booted. In other words, if you have an unsupported Mac Pro 5,1 but you want to fool Catalina, Bir Sur or Monterey into believing they are running on an iMac Pro, that's fine, and it will work, but that won't magically add novel features, such as faster or more energy-efficient versions of Bluetooth, et cetera. Unless you somehow modify the OS itself so that it will have the proper interface to obsolete components no longer supported in the latest versions of macOS, macOS won't imagine you have up-to-date versions of such components. I insist, unless you modify the OS itself (by adding the relevant controllers for obsolete components), I very much doubt they will work. For your hardware components to behave like their modern counterparts, you don't need OpenCore; you need their modern counterparts, with or without OpenCore.

I suppose you meant "gentleman". I NEVER said anything related to add novel feautures. In fact, I can´t agree more with you.

Trying to understand what happened ?

I started from scratch. Wiped out all the drives and removed them. Then I left a SSD that I also wiped clean and in recovery off of USB I did a fresh install of Mojave. What's got me baffled is that the drive was wiped clean and the only drive in the computer. Fresh Mojave install but for some reason hardware acceleration is still active, which that wouldn't even work without OC. The computer runs noticeably faster as well and gives me the ability to update to Big Sur 11.5.2 but for the life of me OC is not installed in a clean reinstall of Mojave.

I do get this:
Incompatible Disk
This disk used features that are not supported on this version of macOS

I take something is lingering ?

Although the computer is running really fast ?

You have to format the drive, not the container. In "Disk Utility" press Command+2 to show all the devices.

I am on a slightly newer Mac Pro, but all of this info has been more or less relevant to me. I have a PCIe NVME drive in my Mac Pro 7,1 with Windows on as per the steps in the OP's first post, but OpenCore does not show a Windows entry after copying the /USB/EFI/Microsoft to /Volumes/EFI/EFI on the Windows drive. When I check the UEFI Shell in OpenCore I also see no mapping for it on any of the fs: dirs. Has anyone seen this before, and could you possibly point me in the right direction? Thank you in advance!

Thanks for explaining. I do see a disk volume within the formatted Extended Journal.

Can I leave it like that, the computer runs 35% faster for some reason?

Hi everybody,
My Mac Pro (Early 2009), 2 x 3,33 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon, 48 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K5200 8 GB, runs just fine, but after installing OpenCore I unable to see the boot picker like I used to when I had a different GPU. I'm using a Cinema Display 27. It's funny because with the 4K display it shows the boot picker. I think it something with the refresh of the monitor.
Any help out there?
TIA.

Hello all,

Looking for some assistance,

I have 2 disk one running Catalina and Other BigSur on 2009 CMP.

Catalina can connect to imessage and facetime but I can't seem to connect in BigSur.

Running OC 0.7.1, followed hybridization from guide but no joy.

This could be just a configuration error, did you tested if with OCLP you can get it working? Did you reseted the NVRAM?

Also, since you have a MP4,1>5,1, this can be missing hardwareIDs inside the BootROM or even something more complex.

Hello,

Trying to update my cMP 4.1 flashed to 5.1, Everything seems to progress well until I get to the screen to choose the drive to install Catalina on.

All the drives are greyed out and the message "This version of MacOS 10.15.7 cannot be installed on the computer" except my Time Machine which is locked and I don't want to install there anyway.....

I have tried with drives putted out and different drive in - reformatted etc but just can't see what I have done wrong - any help greatly appreciated.
I do have the installer log if that is any help...

Cheers

Study the first message on this thread. For Catalina, you NEED to set the VMM flag.

Seems the same issue I had with my MacPro and RX580. After many tries I found picker won't show up using DisplayPort, but shows as aspected using DVI or HDMI connection.
