OCLP v0.2.5 Nightly Build/Monterey Beta6:
Does anyone here know if the OCLP v0.2.5 Nightly Build "REALLY" works on a 5,1 2012 cMP with "ORIGINAL" wifi card in it?
The patch seems to do something but no wifi...
Thanks

Also, If I could ask another question:

Latebloom v2.2, OCLP v0.2.5 Nightly Build, BS 11.6:
I am noticing that i have way to many lockups booting in 11.6 than with 11.5.2...
Anyone else having problems?
P.S. I tried many LB settings.
Thanks

No, but they inject drivers. Got my stock wifi card working with oclp.
Handoff, Airdrop, AW unlocking et al?
From early-2009 to mid-2012 there are at least four, maybe five, different and original AirPort Extremes with a Mac Pro
This becomes more complicated as people also sometimes use separate BT units varying from BT4.0 to 5.2 with various results (like the need to allow BT to be open wide for browsing to any connecting device in order for Airdrop to actually work - this not to be confused with "allow Airdrop from no one/contacts/anyone").

Airdrop was not mentioned, this is imo not a basic wifi functionality. Also some of those features require Bluetooth 4? as well.

Anyway, I have seen wifi working in Big Sur in my MP3,1 with BCM94321MC.

Also in my MP5,1 with BCM94322MC and Big Sur.

My Mac Pros are wired so I dont take a lot of care about wifi for them.

btw. I have not seen Atheros Wifi Cards in MP3,1 to 5,1 here in Europe. What specific cards were built in by Apple in other Countries?

What I know from countless MPs:
MP1,1 to 4,1: BCM94321MC optional
MP5,1: BCM94322MC built in every machine

These are the IONAMEs for two Atheros cards from Mac Pros:

  • pci168c,2a (AR9280)
  • pci168c,30 (AR9380)

Probably one more was also used as second source.

Hi all,

I have a Mac Pro 4,1 —> 5,1 with opencore, Catalina and hw acceleration enabled. I followed your fantastic guide and all worked fine

1. Question

I have to give this mac to my friend, but I saw that wifi doesn’t work yet, in the past does work properly with Catalina. Wifi icon appears, but no network was showed. Any idea?

2. Queation

If I want to delete opencore and Catalina and reinstall Mojave, how can I do this?

Thank you in advance.

So now I reinstalled also Windows. Everything was fine for several boots but now windows disappeared again from the bootpicker. When I want to change the startvolume in macos it still shows up. Does really noone have an idea what I could do? I really need my windows partition...

Sure, that's not basic wifi, it's basic MacOS, though. If I didn't want to use my MP just like I use my 2019 MBA with the rest of my Apple ecosystem, I'd be rocking Snow Leopard all way long ;)

dont start Windows thru the boot picker. You will get those certificates in the nvram section of the boot rom and they dont get away.

At least make a Boot Rom / Firmware Backup so you can flash it back without certificates.

Alright, I thought OC would protect my Bootrom. I actually have no idea how to make such a backup. But how should I then start my windows?

no, dont risk your bootrom. Have a backup just in case.

dosdude has made RomTool für flashing and dumping.

I have also made an enhanced dumper what is adding basic health check (including uefi windows certificates) and chip type probing:

When I check to see what wifi card I have I get:
Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.106.98.102.31) LOL
What card is this?

Also, I ran:

ioreg -r -n ARPT | grep IOName

And Got:

"IOName" = "pci14e4,432b"

Can you please tell me what card I have and will it work with Monterey B6 using OCLP v0.2.5 Nightly Build.
So far I tried it and it don't work.
Cheers!

An Observation Regarding Bluetooth Detection When Switching between Catalina and Big Sur

I have repeatedly observed that when I am switching between Catalina 10.15.7 build 19H15 and Big Sur 11.5.2 build 20G95 the following occurs. This information may be helpful to those having issues with Bluetooth detection in Big Sur.

If I am in Catalina and warm restart to switch to Big Sur my Bluetooth is not detected by Big Sur.

If I am in Catalina and shutdown then cold boot into Big Sur my Bluetooth is always correctly detected.

Attached is the System Report for my Bluetooth as seen in Big Sur.

@dataid, I never noticed what you describe between Catalina and Big Sur, but I did notice it between High Sierra/Mojave and Big Sur. However, there was no issue between High Sierra/Mojave and Catalina.

Thanks!.

this is BCM94322MC, the same stock card as in my MP5,1

Why do we talk about OCLP in this thread? This thread is so polluted with non-related posts, is practically impossible to use it.

No answers to my questions?
Thx.

Make sure that your wireless chipset is natively supported. Alternatively, there are kexts that you can use for enabling older cards. Also note that booting between different versions of macOS may require a reboot to get wireless to work.

As for deleting OpenCore, it is just a matter of deleting the files in your EFI partition and rebooting. Make sure not to have any disks with unsupported versions of macOS, because this can cause troubles booting.
