I don't have this issue.

I simply turn on VMM flag -> update from 10.15.3 to 10.15.4 -> turn off VMM flag.

I even keep SMBIOS spoofing enabled. (This entry only make us may not able to install Catalina by running the Catalina installer. It won't affect this minor system update via System Preferences).

However, I am using the last OpenCore 0.5.7 beta (one version before, without updated builtin firmware), not sure if this make any difference.

Found the problem! I had Catalina installed on an Apple SM951 SSD in a PCIe slot, I suspected it could be causing the boot issue, so I cloned it to a SATA SSD installed in one of the DVD bays, fixed the EFI on the new drive, and now it's booting up without any issue at all (w/o VMM).

Interesting that it was working with 10.15.3, so something must have changed in 10.15.4...

Hey guys, I just updated to 10.15.4 using OpenCore.

I followed the steps of enabling VMM etc. It all worked! only problem is that my audio line out is no longer showing, any tips on how to fix this??

Thanks!

Most likely not really OpenCore related.

Did you try the basic stuff yet? e.g. SMC reset / NVRAM reset

Yup, I have done both. Internal speaker doesn't show, either! hmm any other leads?
If I were you, my next step will be turn VMM back on (and SMBIOS spoofing off if applicable), boot into recovery partition. And make a full install of 10.15.4 (just cover on top, keep all user data).

Somewhat off topic question, but would the way to modify CoreBrightness.framework to enable Night Shift on the 5,1 (patch?) or is this something that would need to be done some other way?

There is a Lilu plugin for that.

Just a precaution :
Night shift enabler patch had an update for 10.15.4 . After I updated , during boot just before I enter the operating system I hear click and the display output is gone. I tried to login remotely but it said no user is logged in. Don't update the patch yet until this issue is sorted out. I got another 10.15.4 where I removed the patch completely.

Well, the plugin works fine. Did you try that?

Unfortunately I am completely lockout. I can't even log on to the machine. Any way to undo the patch from another drive?

If the patch that you are referring to is the one that modifies CoreBrightness, then try to replace the framework with the original binary. If that fails, try to reinstall macOS to that drive (this will not affect your data).

Code:
spctl --master-disable
mount -uw /
killall Finder
And copied /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreBrightness.framework from the working HD to the broken one.

I guess the bluetooth patch also is messed up because the bluetooth is working on one drive but not on the other.

It works indeed. Thanks.

I can confirm SMBIOS spoofing does not prevent the upgrade. Apparently some of the other settings in my config file prevented it from working.
When the distribution file is loaded, the VMM checks bypass everything else.

Is this the original wifi card which needs a patch to work in Catalina? I saw @dosdude1 removed the Catalina installer for 10.15.4 due to major issues. You can probably copy the kext from Mojave.

I removed the dosdue's patcher with App Cleaner and uninstaller Pro and the bluetooth is working now. My wifi is using:
/System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortBrcmNIC.kext
You can probably copy the same kext fromMojave.

It will generate the complete structure with or without the kexts. Bear in mind that FwRuntimeServices.efi is no more if you compile from the master branch (it is renamed). Just compare the sample.config generated there with yours and make the necessary adjustments. Also consult with the updated manual which will also be generated.

Hello again and thank you for providing the above link, after compiling everything I get the latest iteration of OpenCore, and I also get OpenCanopy.efi instead of BootLiquor.efi Would someone guide me with it? Does OpenCanopy the same as BootLiquor.efi? Thank you again...

Yes it is the same, only renamed. It is described in the manual as well as all flaws so far here, as it is still in development.

Somebody said system audio (internal speaker) disappeared with 10.15.4 update. I have the same issue. When I connect bluetooth speaker I get it back. But only for the bluetooth.

So I noticed my other Cat's sound was working. Then I compared both AppleHDA.kext:

Apparently the older AppleHDA.kext was the working one.

For those who have Audio issues with 10.15.4 attached is the latest workin AppleHDA.kext
Use Hackintool and install this kext in /S/L/E overwriting the non working. You may backup the original before doing this :

now under OC 0.5.6 with VMM on and off only in the config.
and no problems with audio or bluetooth (upgraded with BCM943602CDP).
