BOOTCAMP assistant repartitions the drive in hybrid MBR/GPT manner, so even though it is a GPT drive it appears to Windows as a MBR partitioned drive and WIndows can not see the EFI/ESP partition, therefore can not boot in UEFI mode. This hybrid MBR/GPT is not supported by OC. OC will only boot Windows loading the boot drivers and the BCD store from its ESP/EFI partition.
Well there ya go,
thanks for the help.

I've been wanting to do this on my main machine, a 5,1, for a while, and finally tried it tonight. Everything looks good to me, and it's nice to have boot screen support on the RX 580!

This is the first time I’ve had a boot screen on my RX 580 so that’s neat.

Thanks for the UEFI procedure!!
Question: Can I convert Legacy to UEFI in my VM in Parallels?? My actual Bootcamp SSD is used as the VM!
Any answer one way or the other will be helpful!

Hello,
Wow well the system wont boot into Windows at all, not even from the Startup Disk in the system preference panel...
Going to see if it works without OC..

I told you it was not going to work with the hybrid MBR in OC. Without OC it should work.

Yep it worked perfectly ... but the relaunch times seem to be longer so what I may have to do it reinstall Windows maybe version 8 on a separate HD, .. what should I format the disk to?
Thanks

I was looking at Booter documentation and could not see anything that allows me to enable Power Nap:

I tried this last week and reverted back to Builtin picker, almost every time I boot into Windows, the boot freezes. No issues with Builtin. Anyone has a fix for this?

Code:
[floren@zeus ~]$ diskutil list /dev/disk0
/dev/disk0 (internal, physical):
   #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
   0: GUID_partition_scheme *500.1 GB disk0
   1: Windows Recovery 554.7 MB disk0s1
   2: EFI NO NAME 104.9 MB disk0s2
   3: Microsoft Reserved 16.8 MB disk0s3
4: Microsoft Basic Data Windows 499.4 GB disk0s4

You need to provide debug log from debug OC version.

Possibly. You need to create new VM hard drive file similar to the existing one. The VM hard drive should point to the EFI partition and the Bootcamp partition. The VM hard drive should also have a protective MBR and have a GPT partition table that includes the EFI partition and the Bootcamp partition. The VM hard drive file is an xml file that you can edit.

Hello,
I have a Macbook pro 8.1 (Mid-2011/13 "/ A1278) unfortunately there is a bug in the native firmware of the old macs which prevent having the sound card which works under windows 10. Normally to have the sound you have to install Win10 in Mbr mode on a partition created by bootcamp and install win 10 from a DVD and internal DVD-ROM drive. I would like to know if opencore can help me to solve this problem. It 'is not driver issue. Many people are in the same situation. Some have to install clover in real mac but too risky.Sorry for my english

No problem on my setup. My TM is also on NAS. It just keep the current backup and update accordingly.

I’ve had no problems with this picker, besides the fact that it looks terrible on a 4K display. But I can live with that. I don’t boot Windows on mine though currently, so I can’t say I’ve tried that.

Yes, the issue occurs only with Windows, Mac disks boot fine. I'm going to post the debug logs in this thread, once I get a little time today or tomorrow.

Guys, I need your help with the Power Nap feature missing into my Mac 5,1. Is this supposed to work with 3.46Ghz 12 core Xeons? I need the Power Nap option to stop the constant disks wake feature for emails or other system updates while Mac is sleeping. I also noticed that sometimes when the Mac is awaking to check for updates during sleep, the RX580 GPU fans spin really hard for few seconds, they actually wake me up at night.

I was reading this post and this post into Insanely Mac, if it might help.

These are the options I see now:

Screen Shot 2020-05-18 at 8.12.14 PM.png

I'm missing the following options:
  • Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off
  • Enable Power Nap
While sleeping, your Mac can back up using Time Machine and periodically check for new email, calendar and other iCloud updates

Mine doesn’t have power nap. I wouldn’t want it to either. I have enough sleep issues with it.

Power Nap is not supported with MP5,1 firmware. First Mac Pro to support it is late 2013 Mac Pro.

Btw, PowerNap does just what you don't want.

I need the Power Nap option to stop the constant disks wake feature for emails or other system updates while Mac is sleeping.

You can achieve this by disabling "Wake for network access."
