You do realize the venn diagram between the group complaining about the price and those buying the 16e is far from a circle, right?
They may not know what a “hertz” is but considering how much kids game on phones these days, a lot of users of this phone can certainly see it, or the lack of it.Seriously? Not even 1% of buyers have any clue what "a 60 Hz screen in 2025" is.
Maybe you have never updated to high quality headphones or speakers. Or maybe you’re just unnecessarily nostalgic.the only and best camera on a smartphone was nokia pureview 808. and also the stereo microphone. No iphone has ever updated to high quality stereo microphone.
What is hertz for techies is fps for youngens. They may not know what a “hertz” is but considering how much kids game on phones these days, a lot of buyers can certainly see it, or the lack of it.
Bro you have an iPhone SE 3, so a 2017 iPhone with a 2021 chip. iPhones only supported stereo since the 2018 iPhone XS. Are you saying what you’re saying because you never realized that your iPhone doesn’t have stereo recording?watch my posted clip and find out that no iPhone capture this
It'll probably sell just like previous SE products, maybe just slightly better. If it becomes a top 3 seller, it'll be a failure because Apple isn't aiming for cannibalization of the iPhone 15/16. The goal of 16e is to get XR/11 SE2 users to upgrade along with converting Android. That pool isn't very big to begin with.
They can always choose to buy phones of other brands
I own an 11 and I was waiting te iPhone e to make a decision. I'll stay with my old faithful for these reasons' near 1100$ CDN for me. The specs are good for me but I'll spend more to have the real package. Instead buying right away, I'm doing like when I was a kid: save the money and buy probably this autumn. I guess my reaction confirms what Apple wants with 16e: judging it too expensive for an entry level and going right away to the real thing. It'll probably sell just like previous SE products, maybe just slightly better. Sell like hotcakes like the iPhone mini? The 16e is just too big and heavy If Steve were still alive, and Jony back at Apple, we would have a fabulous small one-handed-operation SE4 ... it would look a million dollars and sell like hotcakes.
If you intend to get a 17 model in the fall, you could get an older/used/refurbished iPhone instead and save money. It’s up to you whether you want the shiny new device of course, but a little odd if you don’t intend to keep it. It’s also possible Apple won’t process 16e trades by then. They’ll lowball you either way.I purchased the new 16E. I was trying to get another year out of my 12 Pro Max but it died in a car accident and I no longer had Apple care covering that device. It was tough decision to go with the 16E for about six months till the 17 comes out or just purchase the 16 Pro Max now. For me I know the 16E will be a big upgrade over my old 12 Pro Max and that should hold me over till they release the new iPhone's this fall.
I am actually one in the minority I guess in the fact that I love big iPhones and I am a little worried that going down to 6.1 inches will be a hard adjustment. Still I like the fact that at least it's not as small as the SE. I just don't think I would have been happy getting a renewed SE (3rd GEN) off Amazon. Although it would have been much cheaper. Oh well hopefully Apple will give me a decent trade in on the 16E come September.
Remember when iPhone XR got bashed by tech reviewers and YouTube content creators?
I don't know why the iPhone 16e announcement/launch was rushed when it should have been revealed in March or April 2025 but despite the starting price of USD 599, it will definitely follow in the foot steps of iPhone XR, iPhone 11 as the best selling iPhone of 2025.
Also, remember the W1 chip which got replaced with H1 then H2 chip? That seems to be a possibility with the C1 chip, although they cannot rename it as M1 since that has been used by MacBooks and iPads and M7 was first used in iPhone 5s as motion co-processor.
I think it’s difficult to prove this as times have changed and they were both innovators. They wouldn’t have continued to do the same thing, they would have changed with the times. You’re not giving them enough credit.
Honestly, if it had MagSafe and UWB chip it would be fine at its current price.
Other phones in this price range already have 90-120 Hz screens. This is a noticeable compromise.Seriously? Not even 1% of buyers have any clue what "a 60 Hz screen in 2025" is.

"They don't need an iPhone 16 for that". Begs the questions, what do you need an iPhone 16 for? To scroll really fast and have less blur? To take ugly distorted wide-angle photos? It'll sell very well for them. It's already been said a million times, this product is designed for your grandma and grandpa to finally upgrade once the carriers start throwing around cheap deals.
These people don't need anything beyond a solid phone that makes phone calls, sends texts, and lets them scroll facebook. You don't need an iPhone 16 for that. These people don't want to trawl eBay or Craigslist to get a second hand device. They just want to call up their carrier and say yes to any cheap offers and then get on with their lives.
I’d love to have the income to view phones as disposable!Phones are disposable. Buy one that suits your needs today and then when you need more, buy more. Many are treating this like an irrevocable life decision. It is not.
