X-Men: Dark Phoenix. It is slated for a November 2nd, 2018 release. So far I have only seen pictures, no trailer/teaser yet.

They’ve given Chris Clairemont and John Byrne writing credits for this, so a good sign.

Have I ever said I’ve never liked Jennifer Lawrence as Mistique? ;) Based on her onscreen persona, noone can replace Rebbeca Romijn in that role and she almost made blue skin and orange hair look good, although the latter image (fan art) is much better hair. Actually imo, it’s hard to replace Famke Janssen as Jean Grey. Let’s see if they can do it. :)

That one is a fan made one, nothing yet from Marvel, at least one that I have been able to find, only the pictures.

I like JL as Mistique, don't get me wrong RR did a hell of job, but I having nothing against JL playing the role.

There was at least one amazing movie, one of the best superhero movies ever, that was the FF in spirit :D

The Incredibles

AIAS on June 15th for the sequel.
I have never seen that movie, but it looks fun. I'll have to grab it this upcoming weekend and we'll watch it with the kids. Pixar knows how to make a good animation.

I assume the footage came from the movie. If true, it’s surprising that there is no official trailer 6 months prior to release.

I am with you on JL as Mystique and I also prefer Famke as Jean Grey. I miss James Marssen the most though. Scott got so little respect in those two movies and I thought he nailed the character.

My bad, I did not realize that Sophie Turner had already appeared as Jean Grey.

Give X-Men: Apocalypse a try, it's decent, and it sets up her arc, it's a decent treatment, Professor X is superb (McAvoy really kills it in this one), it's kind of a setup the New X-Men and kick-start the Dark Phoenix story "bridge".

I know it's been on HBOGO, maybe some other sources free, or a super cheap rental.

X-Men First Class and Days of Future Past are two of my favorite X-Men movies...though I do like The Wolverine a lot. I find I have issues watching the earlier ones now even though I enjoy the cast.

Agreed. Days of Future Past is my favorite followed closely by First Class. I actually like the second Wolverine movie, where he is in Japan and I also really liked Logan.

Anyone else catch Black Panther? I dug it a lot, not the best, but I thought it was pretty damn good. Looking forward to Infinity War and seeing who they kill off!

LOL! Infinity War. I have to wait on Black Panther, real life is taking precedence. So, rental it is.

I liked the second Wolverine film the best over any of the Wolverine movies, though I appreciate what they did with Logan (and I'm not a fan of X-23, but Dafne was excellent as Laura/X-23.)

I could watch nothing but Matthew Vaughn X-Men movies and be very, very happy (I know he had a hand in Days of Future Past).

Agreed! I had no idea he was also behind the movie "Kick-Ass" which is also one of my favorite movies. The Wolverine movie where he is in Japan is one of my favorite X-Men movies, period. Great movie!

To this day though, one of my favorites is still Winter Soldier. In terms of an all around fun movie, with lots of laughs, Deadpool. I have seen that movie to many times to count and I still crack up.

Agreed.

For my comic book movie dollars: nothing tops Winter Soldier, though the original Hellboy and Blade come close. Deadpool was also on point. I am looking forward to Deadpool 2 (especially Cable.) For X-Men, I'll take the two movies mentioned and The Wolverine. :)

How could I forget about the first Hellboy, classic and I think Ron nailed that role. Heck everytime I read the comics now, I have his voice in my head!

Agreed, Winter Solider is also my favorite MCU movie.

18 Biggest Differences Between The MCU And Marvel Comics

E7C10FCA-D4B6-4DC9-B67E-48DB829537AB.jpeg

Just watched Captain Marvel (2019)- Good Avenger’s Universe movie, nice tie in with Avengers, but holy crap she is practically omnipotent.

It’s late so if I mess something up, my apologies. As you probably remember I’ve had issues with Avengers, which I don’t want to argue about, but I’ve liked it where it has bleed into other Marvel franchises I like, like Infinity War. If I have my chronology right, this ties into the Avengers prior to the first Avengers Movie? And we now know how the Infinity Stone ended up on Earth.

Does anyone know how true this is to source material? My impression based on this review which is basically critical of the Movie, that there is really no source material, it’s mostly MCU. However that’s not enough of a reason for me to dislike the movie. I liked it! I liked the Kree, even though I knew they were bad, the Infinity Stone story and how Carol Danvers got her powers. :) But sad to say, I hardly remember her in Infinity War or was it End Game?

Captain Marvel is a messy origin story with some clever twists: EW review

You mean the Kree right?

I think Kelly Sue DeConnick's run brought in Carol's binary powers and upped her to Captain Marvel, but I didn't read the run. Comics-wise, I left off where Carol was Warbird (pre Ms and Capt Marvel).

The movie was okay. I like Brie and her best friend & daughter's characters, but I was watching for the flerken (cat alien).

Carol was barely in those Avengers movies (Mostly EndGame).

I'll watch Shang Chi, Doctor Strange 2, and The Falcon & The Winter Soldier on D+. Moon Knight is my most anticipated Marvel/Comic book show etc.

Very disappointed with DC movies, but I wish them well. If they ever do a legit Green Arrow movie, great.

As you may have noticed, I’m on a bit of a Marvel Infinity Stone binge. 😝

Thor: The Dark World (2013)- is not a bad movie. The story premise is good, but the presentation of the confrontation on Earth in London is weak (or off if you prefer). Jane Foster slaps Thor for ignoring her for 2 years, seeing him in the news in New York City fighting an invasion, and then again at the end of this movie, she explains that he’s off doing important things to her friends, who probably wonder why they have not gone off to live happily ever after, never mind that he lives for 5k years and she’s mortal. Later what really irks me is that in Thor: Ragnarok, Thor explains that she dumped me. However, this appears to be reversing with the next Thor Movie.

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)- This is an ok movie. I like Chris Evans who I just saw in Knives Out, the WWII story featuring Nazis experimenting with the power of the Tesseract to win the war was ok too, but not great. One of my absolute favorite Nazis and the occult movies is Hellboy (2004), but that’s Dark Horse Comics. :)

Avengers (2012)- First time I watched this, I did not like it. This time I did like it. :D A pretty good epic. My only critique is that Iron Man was a bit annoying while acknowledging that’s part of his MCU character and there should have been Human bodies laying all over Manhattan, but this is PG-13. ;)

Yesterday we knocked out Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy. I consequently updated the Marvel Avengers Infinity Stone Saga thread. It’s amazing how much good material has appeared on screen from the Marvel Comic Universe. :)

C7705D0A-3103-4E40-AA09-0A03710A9D9B.jpeg

CATWS was good, better than I remember it being. Some monumental things happen in that movie regarding SHIELD. I like him much better in his modern suit versus red white, and blue.

What movie does Bucky reappear in? I‘ll assume an Avengers movie.

And as always, GotG, resides in my top 10 Marvel movies. I previously made a comment that Thor: Ragnarok had a higher level of humor in it, but GotG pretty much matches it evenly for humor. I’ve realized that I appreciate the humor quotient in these movies, which is not too blatant, but causes me to laugh out loud frequently. 😅
