The Average Joe can afford a watch and a phone. This, nah.

Apple will make billions off those that actually can afford it though.

Even though to me, this is a toy for tech millionaires that work from home. When vision 2 comes out next year with better internals and a higher price, the Average Joe will still be unable to afford it.

You see people walking down the street with an Apple Watch, and an iPhone.

This... nah

No one wanted people staring at them with google glass, I'd expect the same here.

We now have photos of all these tech journalists wearing Vision Pro yet we still don’t have one photograph of Tim Cook or any other Apple exec wearing one. Presumably they’ve been using the device for quite some time now. By the way, Wired reporter Lauren Goode said all the shots of tech reporters wearing Vision Pro were taken by Apple. And they all noticeably hide the battery. Nilay Patel’s shot was cropped so you see the wire but not the battery. A condition of getting the review unit, they weren’t allowed to share any photographs of the hardware outside of the shot taken by Apple.

Within 5 minutes of going live, pickups at local Apple Stores are no longer available and shipping to residence is now mid-February.
There are enough tech bros with money so I won’t be surprised if initial stock sells out.

The thing about tech is there is always something better and shinier just around the corner.....
So glad for that. I still cheer at keynotes and fumble to enter my order at opening bell on order day. Very grateful for what the tech companies provide us. Magical experiences and expanded imagination.

I wonder how many Apple Watch Editions were sold at $10K a pop. Vision is starting to look like the same thing now.

Shoutout to all the kids who secretly used their parents credit card to purchase this...only to find out why the bank is calling their parents asking, "Did you just spend $4K+ on Apple's website?" LOL.
More likely - "Did you make a duplicate $4K+ order on Apple's website?"

Over time the technology admission price will come down, and if it has any type of success, an Apple Vision SE will be a thing for $999 in about 6-8 years, just like it did with the iPhone and Apple Watch before.

That’ll be the time where I might jump in.

"A bicycle for the mind" as Jobs once said in an interview.

Ordered the 1TB version. Man I’m such a sucker for Apple products.

Wild on YT? Yep, the derogatory and denigrating reviews will be everywhere along with the glowing reviews from the other side. But the only thing to really complain about is the price. The Vision itself is the start of a new paradigm in the VR/AR. If it doesn't sell well it will not be because of the Vision itself but the price.

Why doesn’t the $400 price tag for a 1 TB drive surprise me ? I wonder how much profit Apple makes on memory and storage upgrades. $2,000 for a Mac Studio with a 512 GB drive and last years processor. I just couldn’t do it….

You think $400 for 1TB is expensive... how about $200 for that storage case 🤣 - that's really pure price gouging, like those Mac Pro wheels....

You’ve never included accessories or AppleCare pricing in your “maxed out” figures before. Odd that you’re doing it now.
If I had to guess, I would speculate that they are trying to make this seem really expensive so that episode will click and comment.

I wonder if I can just buy a souped-up gaming PC and attach a regular headset to it... would that work better? o_O

(it'd definitely be cheaper!)

It's interesting how this always happens with anything Apple.

Maxed out Mac Pro costs $13000!

Meanwhile here's us in Windows-first-land not even bothering to report that a maxed out flagship Lenovo workstation is ten times that - and twenty times more useful lol
