Guys, i followed all the steps of the video, but i don´t get the high resolution in switchresx. Still the 3840 x 1080. Is it maybe, because i´m using an hdmi cabel? Could anyone help? I´m using an LG 49wl95c-w with a mac mini M1.

Thanks in advance, Mo
If I would guess it's because of the cable.

I have the same display and don't have any issues with my MacBook Pro M1. Using the usb-c cable which came with the display as I don't have an HDMI-out on the device. Running this setup without any issues for several months; this is my main monitor and I'm using the screen for aprox. 12/14h a day. 5120x1440@60 was recognized from the first minute when I connected it to my MBP.

Seems to be different on the mac mini, unfortunately.

So I've got the Samsung Odyssey G9 and a M1 Macbook pro. I'm using an 8K USB-C to DP cable and I'm able to set it to 5120x1440@120hz with the latest Big Sur update.

I do however get really weird flickering with the screen when using the M1. The entire screen flickers and the colors are off, until I move whatever window I'm using around and then the color corrects. I've got two different USB-C to 8k DP cables and they both do it.

Was curious if anyone had the same symptoms or any potential fixes.
I had this, whenever I had the lid open it would flicker every so often, sometimes more than every so often, would get better with brighter objects and more full screen bright content.

I was playing with settings on Monday and noticed that I had the Calibrated colour mode setting selected. unselecting it instantly had an improvement, has not flickered since I changed the setting.

Dear friends,

today I upgraded my Samsung's firmware to Version 1007.2 - immediately lost all issues. Screen wakes up as intended even when running 5120x1440 @ 120Hz @ DP 1.4. For fun 5120x1440@100Hz@ DP1.4 WITH HDR works as well ! Firmware-Upgrade taken from here:

Hope it works in general

I have that firmware installed but when using DP 1.4 on my monitor I get flickering white noise no matter what resolution or refresh rate I select. If I select DP 1.1 with same resolution and refresh rate settings I do not have this issue.

However I would rather avoid switching between different DP versions when using my gaming pc and my Mac mini.

Same cables and setup work flawlessly on my RX6900XT (USB-C) and work laptop (USB-C). Anyone got an idea how to fix this without always changing the DP version (DP 1.2 is greyed out for me, cannot select it on the monitor)

Have you tried updating to SW Version 1012.1?

Can your elaborate more on what your referring to when you mentioned ”calibrated colour mode setting selected”. I have a g9 monitor as well with a M1 max. I get some flickering depending on how the colors are setup. I have reduced it a lot but still get some depending on how I move stuff around.

Noticing some people are still having issues with this, so here are a few things I found with my troubleshooting on the Samsung Odyssey G9 with FW version 1013.

Setup
DP1: Windows PC, RTX3090 with 5m DisplayPort cable

DP2: Macbook with M1 Pro - OWC Thunderbolt 4 Hub - CableDeconn 8K USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4, 1.2m.
Game
- Black Equaliser 14

Picture
- RPG
- Brightness 100
- Contrast 80
- Sharpness 76

With the M1 I got the flickering to go away by changing both the calibration and the monitor's contrast settings, I noticed at certain points between 67 and 75 the screen would flicker, so I currently have it set at 80 on RPG mode when using the MacBook, all other picture settings are defaults.

Now.. Game settings... Black Equaliser does not work above 14 on my MacBook, 14 results in no flicker, where 15 and above results in flickering and diagonal pin striping depending on what is showing, where it is and what is the contrast between it and the window behind it.
Garbage with Excel open and Teams chat Windows in front, so set to 14 and so far so good.

One other thing I noticed, I tended to find that the picture settings I like to use for the Macbook do not look right with the Windows PC, Game settings are ok, but picture must be changed, and changed back, the monitor does not hold settings per input, an oversight by Samsung, no doubt.

So if I change to sRGB (Which looks right to me for Win10) and then switch back to the Macbook, I get an instant flicker throughout the contrast range and need to change it back to my custom setting which is based on RPG with a couple of changes to the it away from the 67-70 Contrast range and a bit more brightness.

Currently running on MBP M1 Pro + G9 Samsung 120hz
60hz works well but not 120hz
Any solution?
