I really don't think IF the problem is true, it's that bad, some people are born whiners.
No matter what, you can't please everyone.

As for looking I have seen about 10, and no lines on any.

I am sorry to say then that you DO have the lines but your eyes are not good enough to see them!

I have not seen any without lines. Actually, I even have he lines in the lately produced revA which share the same LCD manufacturer with revB.

You were not believing people and asking for pictures and after I showed you some pictures you are still questioning whether there is a problem or not . You make me sometimes think that there are two "Ironic" on these forums!

I do think there are some out there and have perfect vision, but every store I have checked , and my son's MBA have no lines, I work with photos daily, if A line was there I would see it, But I do think others, might need some glasses.

pic of no-lines screen

Macro pics of your screen, please?:)

Hi,

took some time, but here we go.

This is a 1.86/128GB model without lines.

The screen is:
Manufacturer: 00000610
Model: 00009C9A
Manufacture Date: C2486D00

Attached is a closeup of the screen (luminosity 3 or so (don't remember exactly) notches below max). There's some color noise and some mild
moire effect due to the (cheap) camera. But, no lines :)

Bye,
Chris

Be careful, there are several on this site who will claim they see lines on your computer, even though it may be sitting in front of you and there are no lines. These people wake up every morning trying to make everyone they come in contact with as miserable as they are.

Congratulations on your MBA, it's truly the best looking Mac out there!

More and more people with perfect screens on the other thread! I thought that thread was just for people to piss and moan about the MBA? It's nice to see posters who aren't just whining.

I have lines, here's what they look like on my screen. The bands look thicker than they really are, especially since this is pretty large enlargement of one area of my screen.

You can see the banding/lines angling downwards from left to right. I drew a black line to illustrate the angle

I'm glad there are screens out there without the lines issue as that gives me hope that this can be remedied.

Wrong. It´s correct to warn everyone, coz with the exception of few, the vast majority of MBAs is affected (even Apple agrees to this and investigates). Please note: Just because your eyes are obviously not the best and therefore cannot see the lines (of have just decided to ignore them) doesn´t mean they are not there. They are, and i have not seen one without them.

btw, noone hates you. Hovewer, for a good reason some believe your´e just posting ridiculous things, that´s why your´e accused of not being impartial.

However, noone´s whining. But there are people out the who demand good products for good money and deny to accept crappy stuff. It seems, the sole reason for you accepting bad products is they are produced by Apple. Not a very good reason.

The strange thing concerning this thread is: noone finds arguments here. All you do is insulting people and complaining and whining around because some (oh-so-bad-bad) guys are discussing facts, as there are: MBA displays have faults like lines, grey textures and flickering.

Very, very bad style! :(

What do you guys make of the picture posted above? There appears some banding, running over the screen - but not lines. I thought what was referred to as "line problem" were actual lines giving the appearance of parchment, but now this picture seems to suggest the problem is one of banding??

I agree another member posted lines, this looks like another issue, not the line issue

I agree. I came from a VAIO SZ which had the banding problem. Sony replaced the screen and all was well, but that sure looks like the problem I had with my previous Sony. My Rev B 1.8 SSD has no such issue. I downloaded a dead pixel program and after running that I believe to be fortunate enough to have a perfect screen. The use of the term lines made me think this was a different issue, but banding is not unusual with these types of displays.

Are you talking about the alternating blue lines? That's the refresh of the screen. If you're talking about the patchwork look, that looks like the Moire effect. Other than that, I can't really see any lines even when looking closely near the indicated black line.

I am looking at this on a 20" iMac and could not see anything- until I walked away - and if I stand like 4 or 5 feet away from my computer and look at this picture - then I can see the horizontal lines running across the picture. Not really clearly - but they are there on the picture.

Anyways - my MBA has nothing like that.

Most Airs are OK, you can keep looking, but nothing, then they tell us our eyes are bad.lol

It seems as though many people on the other thread have purchased MBAs with no issues, hopefully we can put this silliness to rest.

I bought a Rev. B 1.6 120HDD two days ago at a local Apple store- Perfect Screen- NO LINES.
I sold my Rev.A on ebay last week and this solves my only gripes with the Rev. a (Small HD, bad video streaming).

A HAPPY CAMPER!

You hit the nail on the head. This is why this issue is being debated over and over. The thing is, the lines are very hard to see. On my MBA, I only see them at 1 ft away and only at a certain angle. When I get closer than that, I dont see it. When I get further than that, I don't see it. That's how hard they are to see. They are very faint too. You may actually wonder if you are imagining something but you're not because you won't find it on an external display or another computer.

Anyways I do think it's possible that some people here have the lines and don't see them. I have seen them on every MBA at the store as well as mine. I have a MBP and don't see it on there. Again it's very difficult to see to the point that you might as well just call it perfect or good enough! ;)
