I know I follow MBKHD and read his reviews. He is pretty unbiased and fair!

YouTube: video

Best reviewer on YouTube hands down. He is going to make a lot of money when he graduates from college. Either working for a tech blog, or for w tech company. Really enjoy every video of his. Also has a great knowledge of the smartphone industry, and his very objective.

He's already making lots of money. Must be one of the highest earning bloggers on YouTube as it is.

Yeah that is true. I am sure he will have people begging him to join their company after he has his degree. Maybe he wants to do his own thing. I don't know. All I know is he videos are the best, and I trust he opinion on tech before I trust anyone else.

I like this review. Some good information and things to think about when looking at a new phone.

I think (once he graduates) he will just expand the MKBHD brand and we will see eventually see MKBHD branded products and devices built by other manufacturers / partners.

Don't disagree with most his opinions, except for maybe recommending the Nexus 5 as a budget choice, not because it's poor phone but rather because you can't buy it right now with no indication you'll be able to anytime soon.

Obviously, he's also not a fan of big phones (completely understandable) considering his overall best phone choices. ;) Otherwise, he was pretty spot on.

I felt like his overall phone choices came out of thin air after watching the first 14 minutes of the video.

I like how he picked the iPhone 6+ for best phone for taking photos and yet picked the Note 4 for best phone for taking videos.

Which would mean that he's biased just like all the rest. No mention of the iPhone 6 plus, Note 4 or Nexus 6. Don't get me wrong, I respect his opinion on certain things but he clearly doesn't value a big screen as one which is usually my first check mark, so I take his reviews with a grain of salt.

Yep..... My thoughts too. Don't always agree with his picks but for the most part is is pretty objective. But he does not really like phablets.

That's a hell of a bias. Also, he's not a big s pen fan. So, he really has biases.

Not a single Samsung phone in his best smartphone of 2014 listing. That should speak volumes, if he's actually not biased.

???? In the initial top of 2014 he specifically mentions both the Galaxy Alpha (along with the Z3 compact as best compact phones of 2014), Note 4 (as one of the best big phones of 2014) and likewise S5.

Just in his extra chosen specific categories at the end - they didn't win.

Actually from most of his reviews I've watched he does indeed like phablets. Indeed he even says he prefers the 6+ of the 6 due to the extra size repeatedly in this video alone. I know from past videos too that he loved the Note 3 and that was his main daily driver until the M8 this year.

I know that. I meant in the overall category. You would think, based on his previous categories, that at least one Samsung phone would begin the overall, but nothing.

Everyone is biased in some way. But Marques doesn't make it seem obvious and will give credit where it's due. I actually have not watched the video, as my opinions of phones are pretty similar to his and I'm pretty sure what picks he has are justified in my eyes.

He says he likes the 6+ over the 6 because of battery life and OIS.

Really...didn't he pick the Note 4 over the iPhone 6+??/

Didn't he also pick the HTC M8 as the best smartphone of the year over both the iPhone 6 and 6+?
So he picked an Android phone over the iphone.

Did you watch the video or are you trolling trying inflame the thread?

I think a lot of people just went straight to the end of the video...

To be fair, he did preface before announcing his 'Overall Best Favorite Smartphone of 2014' by saying these were based solely on his opinion of his favorite phone of 2014 (go to 11:44 mark on the video).

Just seemed like his Best Overall also qualified as best midsized because he broke out best compact and best large phone, and all of his best overall choices seems to fit in the midsized category. Thus also why I guessed he has somewhat of a bias against large phones. He also admits that he's not a fan of TouchWiz, but does appreciate how the Note 4 makes best use of the extra screen real estate with all of the S-Pen and Multi-tasking functionality.

Nope. Simply commenting on his choices. Yes, he did pick the Note 4 over the iPhone 6 Plus. And then not a single Samsung in his overall choice. Is it hard to understand that? Not sure what you can't seem to pick up from my comments - he preferred using phones that weren't Samsung as his daily drivers for 2014.
Oh, and according to his choices, the iPhone 6 WAS in the top 10 of phones for 2014, thereby invalidating that "other" list that was seen recently. :)

I've watched quite a few of his videos and most of his thoughts ring quite true with mine but it's evident that he doesn't appreciate larger footprints that are not meant for one handed usage. He says so himself. So why would I take somebody's advice to heart who doesn't have my best interest in mind?

Why did you single out Samsung? Why not any other maker? Your first comment in the thread was to start something and you and everyone else here knows it..... reported.....
