Funny.... You should mention it....... Didn't Samsung scored more than the iphone.. More first places and more seconds and more mentions.

Uh, I never mentioned the iPhone, but sure I'll bite.

1. Samsung has to compete with all other android manufacturers, who have stepped things up, while apple has a niche segment (a very large niche) all to them selves. So as long as apple continues to cater to this group, they're not going suffer the same kind of sales slump as an android manufacturer since there are several companies catering to that segment.
2. 2 out of 2 phones released by apple in 2014 made the list, where as 3 of 56 Samsung phones made the list.
3. Marques favors android, he has said so in several videos. Nothing wrong with that, android is a great os, so the fact that both of apple releases made the list would be akin to an android phone being ranked higher than the iPhone by Walt Mossberg.

Again, not really sure why you needed to bring apple into the conversasion, when the main point I was making was how LG, HTC, Sony, and Motorola have all made great handsets that are at least as good (depending on your preferences maybe better) as what Samsung selling, and that is reflected in their sales going down and them not being in the top smartphone list.

name a more well rounded device than the m8.
6, 6+, Alpha, Z3, Z3c, Note 4...

Do you not think the M8 camera is not nearly up to par with the rest of the device? Why did HTC go for the M8 Eye?

And whilst I can appreciate GPE editions, their shrinking presence suggests the mass market does not.

your own opinion and being biased is a very fine line.

I'd say having your own opinions/preferences is totally OK for a reviewer. I mean, of course it is...right?

Whereas 'biased' is more about having an ulterior motive for preferring one thing over another, such as being paid by that manufacturer etc. This I've never felt I need to suspect MKBHD of at all.

Agreed. It just seems like most of the thread people are confusing the two.

Huh? You were the one that brought up Apple, not I. And what were we trying to do? I'm really confused here.

For me m8, even the sense version because it is so optimized, is above the android devices on your list for me. I can't speak of the alpha, as we only have bloated carrier versions here, but no way it is as slick as stock or sense. iPhone is the best true all rounder this year though imo, especially with the jailbreaks coming in left and right.

No the camera isn't as good as those phones listed, but the M8 software is FAR superior to every single android phone on that list, they make concessions in software while HTC made one with their camera.

He's almost right. It should've been:

Best Large Phones
Note 4
Nexus 6

Best Overall
Note 4

HTC M8 is just a commodity phone with nothing special and questionable build quality such as display lifting, etc.

iPhones should be in its own category or with the Moto G since it's a disservice to compare 1GB DRAM and its limitations and issues with 2GB+ phones.

That is a pretty ridiculous statement considering the iphone runs better than plenty of andoird phones with double the RAM.

I came across MBKHD one day when I was considering getting my Moto X. I watched his review of it, and then about 10 more review videos that he did after that. Never heard of the guy, but after watching his really good review of it, and the other phones, I was sold. He has a solid future ahead of him based on his videos. I hope that he does well with whatever he decides to do. Some people out there doing reviews should take some lessons from his videos.

The one thing that I really like about his videos are that he speaks in plain, clearly understandable English. That is huge for me.

There are a few I follow, Detroiborg is well worth checking out too, and Erica Griffin likewise.

I really don't like reviewers like Flossy.

This is true. Performance on the iPhone is fine overall, but it drives me crazy that Safari has to reload a tab every time I open it. This is on the 6 Plus.

Doesn't mean iPhone 6 is comparable to the Moto G. Its not.

Nope. Safari reload with as few as two tabs, premature background app closures, frequent low memory crashes...

One of many threads:

I wonder what you'll latch on to next year as troll bait when 2GB of RAM becomes ubiquitous on iOS devices.

MBKHD Smartphone Awards for 2014

Maybe you just don't like the outcome but Flossy is more in-depth than MBKHD.

Nope - absolutely nothing to do with the review outcome. It's both the visual presentation of the reviews and his oral presentation & delivery which I find very poor.

They lack a class and finesse in execution that other reviewers are better able to deliver.

Obviously, he's also not a fan of big phones (completely understandable) considering his overall best phone choices. ;) Otherwise, he was pretty spot on.

I don't know about that, I'm pretty sure he used a Note 3 as his daily driver for an extended period of time.
