Why did you single out Samsung? Why not any other maker? Your first comment in the thread was to start something and you and everyone else here knows it..... reported.....

Seriously? Samsung is the largest Android supplier right now (not for long based on sales slump). And they weren't listed in his best overall list of 2014. Are you simply looking for a fight at this point?
I meant nothing more from my comment. You are blowing it out of proportion.

???? In the initial top of 2014 he specifically mentions both the Galaxy Alpha (along with the Z3 compact as best compact phones of 2014), Note 4 (as one of the best big phones of 2014) and likewise S5.

Just in his extra chosen specific categories at the end - they didn't win.

Top Big Phones [0:55] NOTE 4
Best Compact Phones [2:59] Xperia Z3 Compact
Best Smartphone Cameras [4:44] iPhone 6+
Best Budget Smartphones [6:42] OnePlus
Most Improved Smartphone [8:34] Blackberry Passport
Best Windows Phones [9:26] HTC One M8 Windows phone
Craziest Design [10:04] Sharp Aquos Crystal
Bust of the Year [10:41] Amazon Firephone
Best Smartphone of the Year [11:29] HTC One M8

Proven wrong how? In his "Best Smartphone of the Year" section, it was HTC One, Moto X, iPhone 6 and LG G3. Are you watching a different video?
For your information, I'm only talking about his best overall selection, not the other categories. Notice, the iPhone 6 Plus didn't make best overall either. His first two choices were probably the best overall Android phones for the year, from my opinion as well.

Wrong again..... His choices were pretty clear NOTICE he did not differentiate between mobile OSes....... I wonder why you try to make that distinction for him?
He clearly did not say that. Were you watching the same video?

I said "in my opinion". I didn't say that he said that. Again, are you trying to start an argument?
And, where was a I proven wrong in my initial comment about Samsung? Or, did you drop that, since you knew you were wrong?

Couldn't care less about his reviews. As he got bigger I started noticing him becoming somewhat arrogant in his delivery. Now more than ever, there is so much bias and self agendas in reviews. I now prefer to just look at specs and my own hands on. The day MBKHD started collaborations with The Verge, he lost any credibility he had left with me. As it stands, the only person that I find somewhat genuine in their opinion (review) is Flossy Carter. This guy doesn't get devices sent to him early for free, he goes out and buys his review units. That's a big plus.

Agree except for BSOTY, although M8 has amazing design, the best one would be either Z3 Compact or One Plus or those excellent chinese OEM models (Mi4)
To be trully objective, yes i would give One plus as the best smartphone of the year, it has almost everything perfect

Edit: i didnt read he named best WP for HTC One M8 lmao, he should ask WP users for what is the best, i would expect another model than that M8^^ (Lumia 830 or 930?)

Actually from most of his reviews I've watched he does indeed like phablets. Indeed he even says he prefers the 6+ of the 6 due to the extra size repeatedly in this video alone. I know from past videos too that he loved the Note 3 and that was his main daily driver until the M8 this year.

Yep, he was also raving about the Note 2 for ages.

Flossy Carter has a nice Note 4 and 6+ comparison video here:

I thought it was an ok video and thought his picks were quite balanced and fair. He named most of the phones I'd put in my top 10 (iPhone 6 plus/6, Samsung Galaxy S5, note 4, HTC One M8) even if I didn't agree with his ranking.

The guy loses all credibility once hooking up with The Verge, one of the worst click-bait, sensationalist tech sites on the web.

No he doesn't.

The Verge collab didn't feature anyone from them and was a typical MKBHD video with Verge logo slapped on it.

Quite like the guy and he's usually reasonable, although as others have said I'd prefer he states independent and avoid Verge-type associations regardless of the intentions. As with anything like this though, there's always gonna be personal preference involved as he states.

Personally, I disagree with the M8 because, as an M7 owner (and admirer), the camera fell way short. Way, way short. This wasn't sufficiently addressed in the M8 and, IMO, is therefore a major weakness.

If you don't care about photos and video then jump in. But no smartphone of the year should have such an obvious and major flaw, which I feel he didn't mention or justify in the face of clearly more well-rounded devices.

I hear the camera complaints, but dont really agree that there are any real well rounded android phones this year. All the well rounders, s5, g3, compromise on software IMO. The M8 and z3 compact get my vote as far as android devices go, with the m8 probably winning because of the google edition for me.

Can't please all the people, all the time. There isn't a reviewer out there that doesn't have some sort of bias. Marcus prefers stock Android and really doesn't prefer Touchwiz, so that's going to show through somewhat. He still has expressed his appreciation for what Samsung devices offer and acknowledges that for many, Touchwiz works perfectly well for them.

He his predilection towards certain types of devices doesn't fit you own preferences, just don't follow his reviews--simple enough.

This^. There really were no universally acknowledged complete packages this year, across any of the platforms, so in this situation it's obviously going to come down to preferences. Hardware is great but for me, software carries much more weight considering it's one's direct connection to that hardware. I don't prefer LG or Samsung's (and to a less extent, Sony's) skins, so consequently devices by those manufacturers will tend to fall off my radar, regardless of how good the hardware may be. Someone else may very well put weight in other aspects of mobile devices and there choices will reflect that.

Well, after finally watching it, I agree. Basically, he pointed out that there are a number of good phones out there to choose from. My top are the Note 4 and the iPhone 6 Plus.

Well, there's your answer. Why do you think Samsung is in a sales slump, because their devices don't compete quite as well as they used to, hence the lack of Samsung devices in his top overall smartphone list.
