I thought at least a few people would get a kick out of this... Gizmodo has an article on Vodaphone releasing the Blackberry Storm soon... and if you go to the Specifications page, the Blackberry images show the iPhone home screen and the Mobile Safari browser... haha.

http://blackberry.vodafone.co.uk/storm/specifications/

Pretty funny...

[EDIT: Attached is the image since they took down the page.]

I gotta be picky and point out that it's "BlackBerry" (why they capitalize the other B, I'll never know).

But that takes a back seat to what's under the iBerry. "Memory: 128MB RAM memory, 1GB embedded memory as standard with the option to expand to 16GB using a plug in MicroSD™ membory card."

Are membory cards faster than plain memory?

My guess is the ad wizards who came up with that one are plain ad nerds, maybe from another country (not England or US) who just grabbed any phone's home screen without giving a schyte. I get annoyed enough with Best Buy's ads because they will have 15,000 TVs, 14,999 of which have the SAME EXACT IMAGE ON THEM.

I think some ad company just lost a RiM/Vodaphone contract. :)

Wow, the carriers even say Cingular and AT&T. It's almost enough to make me wonder if the page was hacked.

Blackberry Storm to severely dent sales in Iphone and interrupt product cycle

After reading about the RIM Storm and analyzing factors even as an iPhone owner and mac user I conclude that unless Apple greatly improves its software offerings and hardware offerings RIM Storm will take a huge dent in Iphone sales and possible shift the Iphone product cycle analysts have created before. Blackberry in the north american markets is ubiquitous and is known for its high tech high quality phones. With its strong command of the corporate sector markets the blackberry storm is RIMs most successful attempt at making gains in the prosumer market (if you guys don't know what prosumers are I don't have enough energy to explain and just look it up). The iPhone's strength was its all in one platform in hardware and software as well as being an advanced touch screen multimedia device. But as seen we consumers have many complaints, lack of video recording, lack of voice dialing ,poor camera extremely buggy new software, lack of turn by turn gps, an NDA and an arbitrary app approval system. Mac's main problem is that up until now it didn't need to listen to consumers because it was truly the only one of its kind, HTC diamond or samsung instinct are not truly the same style of phones as RIM or apple are due to price range as well as technology factors. RIM has an advanced operating system that is has been with for a long time with already a large base of programmers for it. Now the main thing many mac fans (idiots who don't understand consumer behavior) will say that the hard drive difference makes iphone and storm different and the iphone superior. But honestly most consumers consider these memory cards not that much of a hassle. Apple for awhile has been able to rest on its laurels but now not anymore. Android doesn't have the same competition abilities as RIM due to the fact its at the mercy of phone makers. Blackberry will sell at least 4 million storm in its first year in the US markets alone as now companies can have an executive multimedia phone, outside of the North American Markets 5 million mostly in western Europe and India. Blackberry users who came to the iphone will leave again and people who were turned off by bad press of the iphone will see the storm as better choice. Apple has a choice to compete by improving processor speeds as well as more physical features to compete or it will find itself in 2nd to a well established storm system.

Blah blah blah...

It'll crash and burn. I'm confident of it. It's one thing to innovate. It's another to react. This is a reaction.

You can say the same thing about Japanese re-engineering and look what they achieved, please instead of just ignoring something look at it from a rational business perspective and you'll see Iphone is in trouble.

lol tell that to the millions of people buying the iphone because of its status. While i hate that people are so shallow, its great for business when your product is the innovator

I'm not convinced, but I guess time will tell. The click-through touch screen sounds weird. The idea of having to physically push down the screen for the "touch" to register sounds awkward. Of course, this is just an assumption since I obviously haven't played with the device yet. I'm also not convinced that the Storm will integrate with everything as smoothly as the iPhone does. Managing your music, your pictures, your videos, the countless apps...it's going to be real hard to beat Apple on this one.

Just as some proclaimed the Zune to be an iPod killer...I don't put much faith in the Storm knocking the iPhone off its pedestal.

I love how you announce it as fact; as if it's a formal headline. Prosumer? Possible. However, the price point on the iPhone will continue to sweep the consumer market.

OMG please can I have someone who goes to a business school or an MBA back me up. A, you cannot compare the storm to the zune first of all zune was microsofts first attempt at an mp3 RIM has already been in smart phone for a long with an already well established consumer base, corporates that were not impressed with the iphone will be in it for the storm. Also Blackberry is a brand name for phones if a kid doesn't have an iphone he wants a blackberry. RIM has already gone through the growing pains that apple right now is going through with cell phones and that will be a great advantage for RIM.

If you were in a business school youd realize that marketing is everything. Blackberries today only have one major consumer: business people. No teen or young adult (the people driving the cell market) is running to the stores to wait for a blackberry, but the iphone is TREMENDOUSLY popular. phone features dont mean diddly when the competitor has enormous popularity.

Also, the iphone is growing swimmingly in the business market

.....large can mean many things. ANYWAY, the iphone is the most popular cell on the market right now. Its buzz is huge and the impact its made on the cell culture is gigantic. Apple truly innovated, others will follow, but never be as good.

I do like that RIM didnt just decide to copy the iphone tho, its nice to know that some companies are still putting money into R&D.

still, blackberries and iphones cater to two seperate markets. Im sure the blackberry will sell quite well, but it deffinatly wont cut iphone sales by a large amount like you claim.

RIM employee?

Competition is good. Without competition, why innovate?

Time will tell how this all plays out, but on a global level, until a GSM Storm appears, not much is going to happen with respect to iPhone sales. Preliminary specs of the GSM Storm peg it at only 1GB of memory and no WiFi, both with will likely affect adoption by the iPhone demographic.

I like how OP defines mac users, "idiots"

I beleive he is mistaken mac user for "your average consumer"
