The wait is killing me. When should I expect the shipping process to begin? Seeing that it's to be delivered "by May 28th", I would expect it to be shipped out by the end of the week?

What are the chances of getting the iPad prior to the May 28 launch date?
 
Assuming they are staged for shipping NOT from China, I wouldn't expect anything until next Wednesday or Thursday.

Zero chance of getting it early.

Go read the 3G release/shipping threads for an idea!
 
It's actually become an obsession.

I've gone from:

  • not wanting the iPad when it was first presented (actually thought it was stupid)
  • to seeing how people review it when it was released in the US
  • to pre-ordering it on Monday at 5am!!
 
Waiting on mine as well. They probably won't start shipping until next week sometime.
 
I'm on the same boat here. We can only wait. No matter when they start the shipping process, we'll be getting it on May 28, so there is no difference!

The bad thing is the accessories arrive a week later :mad: I ordered the case right when they started taking pre-orders and it's only going to be shipped on May 28, not delivered.

Wouldn't the international 3G iPads differ from the U.S. ones because they wouldn't include an AT&T SIM (I'm assuming)? Why would they have those in the U.S. rather than just shipping them straight from China? Wouldn't it be easier for Apple just to ship all the international iPads out of the same place in China, rather than putting the Canadian ones in the U.S., and some in Europe, etc?

(I've anxiously been checking apple.com/orderstatus for mine to ship as well.)

NOt having experienced shipping in Canada or Europe - i can't say which is eaiser. Where do Canadian shipments come from? Is there a warehouse?

I just think it is easier and cheaper on the shipping thing doing it locally.

But, for the record, my daughters wifi didn't leave china until tuesday for a Saturday delivery, and sat at the hub for a couple of days.

My 3G moved on Wednesday/Thursday from the hub in TN for a friday delivery.

Just going to depend on how much they are going to spend in shipping....
 
Every Apple device I've purchased online has come straight from China. Little things, like a pair of headphones, mysteriously arrive at my local UPS hub pretty quickly (not sure where those little things come from -- maybe Apple Canada does have a warehouse? Their main building is nearby). Everything else goes from China to Anchorage (AK), then down to Louisville (KY), and then back up to Canada, so I've been assuming the iPad will probably do the same... but who knows.
 
Knowing I won't get mine until next Friday, I still checked the status today.
However, I expect my dodo case sometime this week!!!

I ordered mine early morning May 10 and would have LOVED to have it for May Long weekend...damn.
 
How early would they ship though. I doubt it any of them would ship this week. Or is that to be expected if they are being sent out from China?
 
I see now at Apple Canada that they state it will ship by June 07. I ordered mine on May 12, still no indication. Has anyone else got an indication of ship date? If they've pushed out the ship date for new orders by 10 days, they must have gotten a ton of pre-orders here.

You'll get it by the date the site indicated when you preordered. If it still said "delivers by May 28" when you ordered, that's when you'll get it.
 
LOL I keep checking my order status too, ordered on the 10th around 5am.
As long as it keeps saying "delivers by May 28th" I don't know why I should check... it won't come earlier. Would be different if I was in the States and the delivery was really a game.

Not sure if it is just Canada, but it is International demand that has pushed the pre-orders 10 days.
May 12th was around the date the pre-orders got pushed back, so check your order status and it will tell you if you made the "delivers by May 28th" or "ships by June 7th".

Yup, mine says delivers by May 28th, must have just gotten under the wire.
 
Just got an e-mail from Apple that says the sim card for the iPad 3G ships separate from the rest of the order. My micro sim card just shipped.
 
Got my hopes up.

So... I just checked my email and noticed an email from Apple. I was hoping it was a shipment notification, but no, just something we already know:

Maybe this is a sign that they'll start shipping soon? :)
 
The MicroSIM card is on the way. The iPad is still "Not Yet Shipped", the delivery date is still "By May 28th", though.

Mine hasn't shipped yet, just prepared for shipment.
Don't see why I care since they won't be delivered till the 28th... and what will I do with a micro SIM and no iPad? lol
