Not true dude. The 3G chip really uses more power than WiFi. Like when you throw a stone, you have to throw harder (= costs more energy) to get it far away.I dont think the 3G version will drain the battery faster than the normal wifi version, 3G is just another transmitter/receiver just like wifi, they just use a different frequency. If you have a bad ATT signal then the transmitter will try to boost the power of the trasmitter wich can cause your battery to drain faster, in the other hand my iphone drains the battery faster on wifi than on 3G.
But your battery will not drain really that much faster, as there are good 3G chips now a days and next to that: why would you turn on 3G if you are in range of a WiFi network? I would only turn it on if I was using it and if I wasn't in reach of a WiFi network.
