I dont think the 3G version will drain the battery faster than the normal wifi version, 3G is just another transmitter/receiver just like wifi, they just use a different frequency. If you have a bad ATT signal then the transmitter will try to boost the power of the trasmitter wich can cause your battery to drain faster, in the other hand my iphone drains the battery faster on wifi than on 3G.
Not true dude. The 3G chip really uses more power than WiFi. Like when you throw a stone, you have to throw harder (= costs more energy) to get it far away.

But your battery will not drain really that much faster, as there are good 3G chips now a days and next to that: why would you turn on 3G if you are in range of a WiFi network? I would only turn it on if I was using it and if I wasn't in reach of a WiFi network.
 
You guys must be barely using your iPads. I've recharged mine twice fully after two full days of 11 to 12 hours use. I'm well happy with the battery life. I didn't use the MacBook all day apart from the activate and sync when I first got it. The iPad is a joy to use, the fact that it can last all day is a real boon.
 
Cycle counts on ipad?

I too am pleased with the battery life on my ipad. I keep it on all the time, only shutting it down when I go to sleep.

I wish there was some way to keep track of the number of charge cycles on the battery. Does anyone know of a way to do that (other than putting marks on the wall)?

The response absolutely true. The original iPhones were Edge only because 3-G drained the battery too fast. From every recently introdiced Apple product, it seems a good battery life is a priority. And good for Apple on this one. Subsequent iPhones incorporated 3G because the battery was larger and new 3G chipsets were more efficient. Even still, the battery life on a 3G is noticable lower than the origial iPhone. Turn off 3G and you'll get much better battery life on the 3G iPhones. Slower data transfer, though, but no difference in phone calls. The iPad 3G will have noticably, but still great, battery life when the 3G is turned on.

it all depends on the 3G chip, also on LINE OF SIGHT distances the 3G frequencies 800mhz-1900mhz travels farther away than 2.4ghz wifi frequencies using the same transmitter power. Wifi 2.4ghz travels better thru objects and walls than the 800mhz-1900mhz.
 
Got mine at about 1:30, been hammering it for 4 or more hours and still got 60% left. Superb.

Awesome! Batterys amazing on these things! It just takes forever to go down! I love it lol. My iPhone will have more battery now I'm using my iPad for Internet instead of the iPhone! All good! :D
