At my office and my home my wifi signal on the iPad goes from 1 bar to 4 and then back to 1, etc. Netgear access point at home and Cisco at work. In both cases my MBP and iphone are solid 4 bars all the time, which makes sense since these are extremely high end access points and I am never more than 20 ft from them, where my office is. WEP at work and WPA2 at home. Clearly an issue with iPad wifi like they say.

I haven't tried a restore yet, but will later tonight when I get home.

EDIT :: Wifi just lost the network all together. Had to go in and reselect the network to reconnect. :(

There is no WiFi issue. Maybe my iPad was blessed by Steve Wozniak's signature on the back, but I don't believe in superstition, luck, etc. It recognizes my network at the same time my iPod touch does whenever I'm within my home network's limit. The signal becomes weak exactly in the same spots as my iPod touch gets weak signals, namely in the garage, in the car, etc. That's expected since there are layers of metal between iDevice and router.

Your kidding right? There are no wifi issues? You must not read much. I do this for a living and yes there is a wifi problem when it's on every forum and news article on the net. Maybe u just got a good one. Be thankful!!

I am bewildered by that statement as
well. There are news stories all over the
Internet about the WiFi problems associated
with this device.

And, if that's not believable enough for you
I have WiFi problems with my iPad.

My iPad has dropped its wifi connection about 3 times since I got it. One time it was right by my router. It disconnects for maybe a minute then reconnects and it does not forgot my WEP passcode.

The wifi issues are definitely strange. I've had two iPad 64GBs in my place, and both had no issues staying connected. Watched several episodes on the ABC player with no drops, connected via WPA2 to my dual-band Time Capsule in N mode (1st gen).

As surprising as this may sound (and it may
have already been mentioned in this thread)
the current fix for disconnects is to turn the
iPad brightness up a few notches above
midpoint.

Go figure. Worked for me.

...but I still get poor WiFi reception as soon
as I try to go across my house with it.

I have been seeing the exact same behavior. I have also tried all the suggested 'fixes' and some superstitious things as well. In the end, I am left with the conclusion that my unit has weak wifi reception, given that I have two other 802.11n devices which have no issues.

And yes, I have also tried numerous adjustments to my router settings (Apple Airport Extreme, 2008 model). Unfortunately, it does not allow you to name the two bands differently so I can't try the official Apple 'fix'.

All of which is a shame as I am otherwise delighted with the unit.

Didn't this whole thread, but I have had great wifi performance for the most part. However, a couple times I've had my signal go down to one bar even when standing right on top of my AP Express. Turn off and on again the wifi on the iPad has fixed the problem for me both times; it just jumps back up to full bars right away and stays there.

Just wanted to throw that out there in case it helps someone else!

I have a 64GB WiFi model, have had no problems using it at home for the last two days under heavy usage with my Linksys router with WEP..
I brought it to work today and used it most of the afternoon, with a DLINK router under WPA, again no issues. I do have 'Ask to join networks' turned off. Maybe thats the problem?

iPad Wifi issues...

I'm losing a bar or two of signal occasionally even when I'm really close to my Airport Extreme 2009, setup for N and 5Ghz only. I keep checking the rate of the connection using the Airport Utility and my iPad 64gb tops out at 72Mbits while my 13" MacBook Pro easily gets 300Mbits as well as my other wireless N computers, even my Airport express across my house is getting 216Mbits.

Is anyone able to get a 300Mbit rate on their 5Ghz N connected iPad????

Ha! I've just tried the same thing (read the suggestion on another site) and so far things seem more stable. I still see the wifi indicator disappear and then quickly reappear about once a minute, but I don't lose connectivity. I will continue to monitor things and report back.

The wifi indicator should not disappear and then reappear under any circumstances. Mine doesn't, so you shouldn't expect yours to either.

Haven't seen this posted yet but this is to all the university students have had trouble connecting to your schools wifi network. All you need to do is go into your general settings and turn off autofill and then launch safari. Thats it. Simple enough when i think about my suffering restoring and researching the

I would like to know this too. iPad wireless N seems useless, didn't see it over 54M any time, wonder if anyone gets over 100M on what router?

I hit 39mbit maximum with my pre-2009 dual-band Time Capsule in N mode. No matter if right next to the router or several rooms away. Always 3 bars, though.

Thanks for saving my day. I work at Yankee Stadium and was trying to connect to our in-house wireless that the media uses...wouldn't connect for some reason. My iPhone would without thinking twice though. Searched here, found this post, turned off autofill (I had turned it on last night) and bingo...online!

Hope this little bug gets fixed because I love autofill.
