I've had the notch since December and it has never bothered me much. If anything it helps me properly orient my iPhone X when I pick it up :D

It's not intrusive for video since I prefer to watch video in the native aspect ratio. Where does get intrusive is when you play a video game that is full screen. The video game still looks great, but the notch sticks out. I don't game much on my iPhone, so for me the notch is pretty much never an issue. I just consider it to be a temporary trade-off until they figure out a way to get rid of the notch without sacrificing edge to edge display or functionality.

Where art thou, Notch critics?

Finding it curious how this time last year, this place was utterly bombarded with threads complaining about the notch when one iPhone had it.

Now, a year later, we have three iPhones with a notch & we hardly see anyone complaining. In fact, it's more the opposite - many more people are now praising the design/form factor.

I wonder what's caused this turnaround in people's mindset?

Can those who vehemently opposed the notch last year & accept it now provide reasoning as to why things have changed?

I love the notch and rounded corners and no chin. never complained about it.

They don’t think the notch critics have much choice anymore.

There's no other option, at least last year I had the option between 8+ and X which I opted for the 8+. May as well accept it if I want to stay in the Apple ecosystem, which quite frankly I'm deeply embedded in. Either adopt now or be left behind.

"Oh Apple notch, how I love thee so.
You make my life complete, especially on the go.
I placed a strip of tape, along an edge of my TV.
So that I feel the same elation, when I dare look away from thee."

I don't understand. There's really nothing to like about it and it certainly isn't something to behold. I won't be wearing a notch lover t-shirt anytime soon. The notch is a design compromise, plain and simple. If Apple had a way to hide it, they surely would.

A question like this with answers that only support your conclusion. Brilliant!

Maybe I’m misunderstanding here, but I don’t see any answers that support the OP’s conclusion.

The OP seems to believe (as far as I can tell) that all the people who hated the notch now all the sudden like it. That’s not the case at all. Most people have simply accepted it as the cost of buying new iPhones. The notch was a compromise last year, it’s still a compromis this year.

OP came to the conclusion that everyone loves it now and the only answers to the poll question are supportive of that conclusion, there is no way to offer a dissenting view in that poll besides using "other" which is still supportive since the question is based on the conclusion that people like the notch now.

My only beef with the notch was watching videos in full screen... All other uses of the phone I don't even notice it to be honest.... and the whole watching videos thing I've gotten used to it and barely notice its there any more.

the thread subject and Poll title will tell you who the poll is geared towards..... Notch haters... whats caused you to now accept the notch if a person was a notch hater and has NOT accepted it then this poll is not for them. simple

Or, you know, you could sit out a few iPhone launches until the design changes again. The 8 Plus is still a more-than-relevant phone. It’s not like you’re being left behind if you don’t upgrade every year. My two cents.

The thread subject is saying there are no notch haters now and asking where they are.....

Nice try?

I don't think people necessarily changed their minds. For example, I'm still not happy Apple changed all of their laptops and mac mini so the memory is no longer user serviceable.

For some people it was so serious they left and thus are not here to give feedback on the computer or phones. Then there are those who see no point in saying the same thing they said the year before ex removing the headphone jack. For others such as myself. It's always pros vs cons.

The notch only overlays full screen video if you want it to. Otherwise you can watch it at the same size you would on the 8 anyway. Why not have more screen? The logic just makes no sense.
Because to have "more screen" the notch blocks part of it.

Don’t hate it at all. I think it’s elegantly done and way better than some of the other copycats out there. Doesn’t bother me one bit.

No it doesn’t. Even with the notch, the X has more screen than the 8 on the top and the bottom. Side-by-side, 8 is just a rectangular cutout of the X display. Even if you want the display to end where the notch is, functionally it generally does. Then you get an extra couple of visible screen areas on top, to display the time and battery icons, etc.

Now, I’m not a huge advocate for the notch. I don’t actively like it, and I understand it is a design compromise, but you have to at least be realistic about it. You are getting more screen than the old rectangles. Period. And better screen at that.

Bitching about it isn’t going to make it go away any time soon. Now that other flagships have copied the design, it looks like it’s going to be here for a bit too. At least until they figure out how to embed the sensors and whatnot underneath the screen.

I still hate it, but there is nothing I can do about it if I want to upgrade my phone. I intentionally skipped the X last year and got the 8Plus because of the notch. If there was a non-notch model this year that offered similar specs to the XS, I would have opted for that.

There is no sense in continuing to complain about something that you cannot change. Silly thread, no?

Same place as the no headphone jack haters, I guess. Waiting for the right moment to revolt.

They’re probably doing what I did. Got the 6s last year (for a pittance) and retained my headphone jack. I put my money where my mouth was.

Apple still sells new phones without a notch. For cheaper. If you don’t need bleeding edge you get one of those.
