Does this offer only apply to people who purchased their MacBooks new and had AppleCare?
If I bought one of these 2012 MBPs with a battery problem second hand would it still be eligible for replacement?

Late to the party mate. You may have been eligible but the program is over.

Should be ready Wednesday. Card charged means shipped.
Any chance you know how long the shipments take to get to Europe? Mine was charged on Friday or Saturday. Wonder where it is now. No notifications on shipments or anything.

I would have thought you will be notified that it is in store today or tomorrow.

Wow, and my MacBook (early 2008) will be 10 years old soon and my MacBook Pro 2010 will be 10 in ~3 years.
Both work perfectly well and this is what I'd expect from a ~1500€ laptop. That's the very reason I will never buy HP brands.
I'd say five years is a normal age for a laptop.

I'm typing this from a 10 year old Thinkpad (with Linux + GNome3, of course) and I concur.
In 5 years a high-end Mac is in its 40s, not yet retirement age.

lol I felt the same way. On the second day after my credit card was charged I called to check to check the status and they told me that it arrived that day and they hadn't had time to call yet

What did you end up getting?
I called them but they said they don’t have it yet. I might risk it tomorrow and bring my computer to work with me just in case :)

So I haven't been back to this thread in a bit, I was disappointed when they shut down the program, also worried that they might cancel my CRU (and thus superstitiously avoiding any related threads). Just spoke with the store as I'd not heard anything since last week when they had an issue with the address on my card being US-based since I'm now in the UK, and according to them, the replacement is still going ahead - it just hasn't come in yet. Not going to count my chickens until it's real, but hoping they'll honor the original choice...

It seems like they are still fulfilling CRUs. I was told what machine I am receiving(2016 base model refurb) on July 24 and my card was just charged this morning. I'm 2 hours from the Apple Store, so it's being shipped directly to me as well.

I just got my logic board replaced under the Video Issues Repair Extension, even though my 2012 model had already expired from the extension. (They also replaced my top case and display!)

I received invoce from Apple Cork for the repair. Did you guys get the same, please?
I'm still waiting for my CRU to arrive to the store as they said but the invoice says nothing about CRU and it says repair. Plus it shows shipping address as my home instead of the store. Is that normal?
What is your experience, please?

Can shed some light here. You'll get a couple copies of the invoice, one physical copy and one maybe via email? Mine is in a similar process. Went through directly to my residential address. You'll get a message from Apple or an email from corporate giving you a tracking number. That will help you out till you get the package.

Thank you,

I'm just little confused as why does it say its shipping to me when the store clearly said they ordered it for them and once it arrives they will give me a call and I can come and pick it up.
Also, card was preauthorised since monday last week but got charged on friday. I wonder if that means that I still have to wait a little longer or that Apple will actually call that its ready to be picked up today. I brought my computer so 3rd time the lucky? :)))

This waiting is agonizing and I really hope it will be all fine and sorted today. Would love it :)
How are others doing?

I understand that the excitement can get to you. I just stopped thinking about it and figuring out other things. I had it handled mostly without a store except for performance checks in store. I can't comment on the card authorisation. They did it in a couple days for me and the first day they just had entered the information incorrectly. Why can't they just use Apple Pay for stuff like this? You'll be fine, it will come to you sooner rather than later.

That would be great. I still have the old computer so thats why I am a bit baffled by the shipping address.
Regardless, they can ship it to mine if they want it and ill just drop the computer when they want it. :)
Its been 2 weeks and I don't mind waiting, its just the excitement is hard. But you are right, sooner or later all will be sorted and I will be one happy Apple promoter :)

You may want to check the credit card you gave them because I'm sure there will be a hold for the price of the replacement computer. This of course will be released once you've returned your current computer. I get mine today :)

Another update, if anybody else was approved for a CRU before they cancelled the program and is still waiting - my card was just charged this morning as well

I've got an update also, I wrote on this thread and submitted on 19.7, just got an e-mail from AASP if I accept a refurb 2015, which I think I will. It's probably not gonna help anyone else at this point, but there were a couple of guys wondering if Apple would do this for Central European customers through AASP which is my case, the only specific thing being that I originally purchased my 2012 in Australia, so that would be International English assembly (I think) and not the local one.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to psynnott for starting the thread, I am super happy about how it turned out for me.

So I have finally picked up mine! Got SG refurbished 2016 model 2.7, 16GB, 512GB, Radeon 455.
Slightly hesitant about the refurbished part (there is a purple light leakage in one corner which I'm contemplating if its big enough for a return) but other than that its perfect. Don't mind that its not 2017 as they are almost identical and super grateful and happy with the result. It is just fantastic outcome and I'm super happy that I have found this thread by accident and I wanna say thanks to Psynnott for starting it as this just have made my financial situation much better (I really couldn't afford new one and I was dreading when mine dies) so thank you man!!!

The only thing I really hate about these new models is the silly keyboard - its just so LOUD its incredible. The clickiness is just insane. No more silent typing when partner asleep :(

Anyway, thank you all for great contribution. I'm just one happy puppy thanks to you all.

And thank you APPLE for providing amazing support!!!
