I have open case and replacement ordered (most likely 2015 but hasn't been confirmed) :(

Would that mean that they might change it and I get 2012 instead now that silly MR posted this? At the end of the day, I was told that I'll get new machine (not refurb) so I guess that will make me content although I was hoping for at least 2015 as that would make me ecstatic :D :D :D
When did you take it in? Did your CC get charged yet?

This is incredibly annoying that those websites have published this story, really has ruined the whole thing if they really are banning it now.

I have been offered a 2017 one yesterday after taking it in last Tuesday. I haven't been charged and awaiting collection. Because of this blow up I'm now fully expecting they're gonna call me again and tell me that I'm just gonna get a new battery. Thanks MacRumors and TechRadar!

Exactly. Sometimes things may better not be in the news. This thread on the forum is way too overflown to the Macrumors news section and other discussion/tech websites...

I'm in the same boat. Took mine in July 19th and although I have been charged for it, my hopes are not high. :(

Guys, when I look online on my repair status I see 3 things.
1) repair number (a) opened and closed - it’s the one that says that I should get CRU and I picked up my machine so I can use it whilst I wait so I guess that’s why it’s closed case
2) repair number (b) shows that - repair cancelled we are returning your computer back without repair
3) repair number (c) shows that it’s still open but has no status.

Is this normal? Did you have the same or is Apple now cancelling my CRU and not honouring it? What does your status says or said, please ?

This indicates that they are not honoring your CRU and will instead have you pay the normal price for a battery replacement once they are back in stock.

Maybe not. My Genius Bar Work Confirmation Email that I received after I picked up my new 2017 showed:

Item Number Description Price Amount Due Customer KBB
Returned to customer - no service provided £ £
VAT £ 0.00
Total £ 0.00 £ 0.00

The above estimate does not include applicable taxes. Taxes will be calculated at the time of payment.

The returned to customer bit may just be the wording they are using for a swap....maybe....it's a glimmer of hope I suppose!

What country is your store in?

Hi,

So as of today (in the UK at least) I can confirm that Apple is no longer offering an MBP replacement since the parts (top case) will be available very soon (max 2 weeks).
As a result the choice of waiting until mid September and having the battery replaced for free is no longer live either.

I have one question though. I was aware of this battery shortage -- before the online articles -- back in June when I went to one of the London Apple stores in order to pay the 199£ and get my battery replaced. I had been offered two choices:

- Wait until September 15th and the replacement would be free of charge
or
- Pay and have a refurbished macbook (which could be a new model as other users reported).
However, the price quoted was 450ish pounds VAT excluded instead of the price for the battery service, that is 199£.
When I went back again today and tried to go with the macbook exchange option they also quoted me that price, just before saying they couldn't actually do that anymore as mentioned at the top.

Have any other users had this price quoted to them?

Mine looks totally different but i can do ss later. It was yesterday though and was already told that ill be getting CRU and new machine, not refurbished. Gave them cc too. They told me little bit of a wait but new machine so if Apple decides now not to honor that then perhaps that would be the time to complain as I've already got mega excited.
If they said no in the first place then i would be ok but now its just too cruel :)
Anyway, Apple has great customer service so even though they changed it now I still believe that they will do the right thing and honor what the said before. :)

I got worried after seeing the recent post that Apple had cancelled the upgrade. I brought mine in and was told they would upgrade mine on 7/14, called them back on 7/20 to learn the order got cancelled due to my credit card not working. So I gave them another credit card # and got notification the charge was placed to the card on 7/24. I was afraid the upgrade would get cancelled and was prepared for the worst.

Apple store just called to tell me my replacement MacBook Pro has arrived and it is a late 2016 2.7/16/512/Radeon Pro 455!!!! Woot!

My friend told me that he asked in a store and apparently they are not honouring it and to be honest I'm afraid to call them to ask. So, from yesterday's super hype great mood to this. :(
Hope mine got processed before so that is the only way that I will get the CRU. :) Please Apple, make me happy again and I'll stay with you forever :)

I have visit the store yesterday, and they only offer me 199 for replacing the battery + top shell, and need to wait for a few weeks. Meanwhile the status keep showing no status available. Seems I am running out of luck:(
