Apple blocked sideloading iOS apps back in Big Sur 11.2. I guess it wasn't successful. Either way, if it doesn't work, you can use appdb's Rickpactor to install IPAs onto your M1 mac, even unsigned ones.I am still using iMazing to download the latest updates to my apps. It does!Does mouse and keyboard work when sideloading Minecraft bedrock onto an M1 mac?
1.5 years later, and still no bedrock for the Mac ?As a very experienced Minecraft addict; there is a reason some people prefer bedrock and others Java for Minecraft. If he wants bedrock, then he probably won't like the java version.
Don't worry. I predict it will be here very soon.
Yeah, this prediction did not age well. I‘m surprised and sorry to have been so wrong.1.5 years later, and still no bedrock for the Mac ?
The iPad version does run very well on an M1 iPad. My daughter has both the iPad bedrock version and the Java version on her Mac. She actually prefers to use her iPad for most things except Minecraft. I guess she prefers the Java version, probably because of the mods. There is no technical reason why the bedrock version of Minecraft won't run incredibly well on the M1. The iPad version is great! I used to be able to run the android version on Intel Mac through a 3rd party tool.
What I'm getting at is there may be issues with running the bedrock version today, but these can be fixed incredibly easily. It's mostly just Microsoft flipping a switch to allow the iPad version to install.

Unfortunately, performance is not a strong point of Java. That said I have managed to get decent frame rates from my Intel Mac with a 5700XT. The fans run like crazy though. The bedrock version was designed to run on mobile devices and is probably implemented using C or C++ so it should be much faster than the Java version.Honestly I wish they would either fix the performance of the Java version (have Optifine by default) or just ditch it. The fact that I need to play with the settings to get more than a constant 60fps (and sometimes still dips to around 30) using an RTX 3080 Ti (and installing Optifine) is a joke. Getting Optifine fixes it, but why should we have to depend on mods for having the game perform as it should? This is why I prefer the Bedrock version. 0 performance issues with the bedrock version out of the gate and its double or triple the FPS constant.
It works fine with Optifine, so I think they should be able to fix the performance issues of the core code. I have been playing this game for 10+ years back when it was in Alpha state. I am not sure when Optifine was introduced, but I am still shocked the second or third highest GPU available today (RTX 3080 Ti) still struggles with it as it did ~10 years ago.Unfortunately, performance is not a strong point of Java. The reason my daughter and a lot of other people like the Java version is you can download a lot of different mods for it and you can write your own mods. Its a great way to get children into software development (my daughter is going to spend a week this summer learning to write mods in Java).
I suspect Microsoft would prefer people to use the bedrock version. The Java version is probably too open to modification for their taste. It works fine with Optifine, so I think they should be able to fix the performance issues of the core code. I'd be happy to use Bedrock edition on my M1 Mac, but apparently Microsoft isn't.I suspect Microsoft would prefer people to use the bedrock version.
The Mac is clearly not a priority for them.I'd be happy to use Bedrock edition on my M1 Mac, but apparently Microsoft isn't.
The Bedrock Engine is already available on Macs in form of education edition already though. The Mac is clearly not a priority for them.
Has anyone had any luck with PlayCover?
The Java Edition works great.Any updates?
would love to play minecraft on my Mac...
You could probably do it with PlayCover. Can you still side load Minecraft from an iPad by taking the .ipa file and use that to play? I’m interested in getting a Mac and this would be a nice bonus.
Do you have to pay to use PlayCover, or is there some other things? I heard you have a week then you have to do something, but I forgot what it is. Could you tell me how it works? You could probably do it with PlayCover.
Andrew Tsai on YouTube have a lot of videos on this. Mostly focussing on Genshin Impact though but shows you where to get the IPAs. PlayCover is on Github, so you can fork it or whatever.Do you have to pay to use PlayCover, or is there some other things?
