Violates YouTubes TOS, it won't be going back up.

What HD downloads have people had success with? Perhaps it depends on the format of the download....

i might be missing something as well but I too cannot see the benefit of downloading and storing something I can easily stream in the first place. Anybody care to shed light on why this is a big deal?

There have been a few times that I have wanted to show my family a youtube vid or two. Where they live, there is not any Edge, 3G or WiFi. This app will take care of that.

I like to have videos on hand to show friends. It's handy when you don't have to remember video names or worry about your signal strength. It's not a huge deal but the convenience is nice.

Seeing how MxTube hasn't been updated yet I'm guessing it'll be in Cydia by tomorrow or the next day. :)

Yeah basically this app is just for convenience. You can download your favorite YouTube videos then play them later if you don't have service.

That's just an example of why you would use this.

It's also great to download them via wifi then just watch them anywhere you go. You don't have to worry about using data.

Sucks that this app will be pulled.

Just a quick tip, if you want the downloads to be super super fast, click out of the app, and then click back into it. You will get super fast speeds for a second, and if you keep doing it the download is done in like two seconds.

Kind of weird haha

It's probably because it was downloading in the background and when you go back into the app, the slider just updates making it looking like it's downloading in super speed.

just spotted you can save any videos you download in iTunes via the apps tab down the bottom under file sharing

I am able to save them to a folder on my computer, although excuse my noobness how do i sync these videos so they show in my "ipod" under videos?

from the creators blog:

"I just received a call from Apple Legal. MiTube will be taken out of the App Store within the hour. It’s currently 33 in top free apps! All in less than 24 hours."

If they do take down MiTube, you can always use iCab app (using module) to download YouTube vids, but would still prefer MiTube.

once were in we're in, get the app while you can and dont think they can make it NOT WORK within itunes or can they?

i know they pulled ichattr but it still works and syncs in itunes as normal.

[app]Downloads[/app] also works.

I think I read Apple can remotely delete apps via iTunes, but they have never done so yet. Perhaps they'd only use remote delete for an app that posed a security risk...

MacRumors really dropped the ball on this one. Apps that will likely be taken down by Apple should be front page news. This is very time sensitive info and whenever an app squeezes into the App Store (when it shouldn't have), it demands a lot of exposure so people don't miss out. Instead, there's some crap about some Snow Leopard graphics seed.

Yeah, I didn't find out about the app until I saw it on Gizmodo.

They CAN remotely disable this app for anyone to use. But, they won't.

If they still haven't remotely disabled HandyLight and mine is still working, I doubt they'll disable this.

Didn't someone at apple approve of this app? So doesn't that mean that they won't take it down?

What if you copied the file to your desktop! Would it jut be removed when you next synced?

Probably.

Apple hasn't used the remote kill feature as far as I know.

It's really only intended to be used in situations where an Application is discovered to have a really big security issue (like stealing the user's password or credit card details).

Ok so if it gets pulled early will the developer of the app not update/maintain it or can he even do that once it has been pulled?

I know there is more apps to dl videos but this is simple to use.

Many other apps have been removed from the App store after Apple approved of them such as HandyLight.

None though have been remotely "killed" from a user's device yet.
