MLB At Bat to stream live games?

Image quality

I love the option to stream the games. Reality is with full 3g coverage, the image is still fairly poor. Good enough to watch in a pinch, but this isn't profound video quality. It is really poor actually.

Maybe AT&T is still forcing low bandwith video streams?
 
Unable to stream the game?

Hey,

Anyone else in Canada having a lookup error everytime you want to stream the game live right now? (Cubs/Sox). It checks my location then gives me a Lookup error saying that the blackout check can't be performed.

Also when I hit info button it goes to what looks to be a blackout requirements page but nothing loads

Anyone have this problem in Canada on Rogers?

I am at TO and can watch the game just fine. However the picture quality is nowhere as close as last night's games.

I'm getting the same as you, no luck thus far!
 
I'm confused -- it says you need version 1.20 of At Bat 2009 -- mine is 1.10 and I don't see any updates for it on the App Store.

The full-game streaming is working for you guys with 1.10?

No, you need to update to the iPhone 3.0 firmware. Then you'll have the option of getting version 1.2 of the MLB software.

Can anyone confirm that this doesn't work at all on the iPod touch? That would seem to make sense, since the touch can't locate itself to ensure that there aren't blackout problems.

Edit: Realized that it could just use the IP address of your Internet connection. Anyone have experience with this?

It works fine on the ipod touch.

I see -- yeah I kept hitting check for updates before in iTunes but it kept rejecting my password (I think it was just overloaded). I just checked and the updates are showing for me. Can't wait to try this out!
 
Wow, this is great! Check out some screen shots. I'm impressed with the quality. I've been watching for about 10 minutes and it hasn't stuttered once.

Unfortunately I won't be able to watch the Yankees this way -- that would be really cool though, and something I'd be willing to pay for.

Not like you really wanna see this game anyway. Losing to the Nationals... AGAIN! :confused:
 
Awesome App!

Yeah, not being able to see my Twins sucks, but this is great! The picture quality is very good; better than the March Madness games.

I'm enjoying it on my 1st gen iPhone. Soon, I will get the 3G S.

The quality is unbelievably good. It's way better than the Slingbox app. BTW the Yankees will bounce back. They're not far behind the Red Sux and the season is long. Go Yanks!
 
This stream is just great, I live outside the blackout area and never get to see the Tigers unless they play Cleveland. Here is a screen shot of how clear the video is. I love it! I wish the NFL would do something like this!

this app just keeps getting better and better. I hope the NFL gets their crap together and makes a good app for this season
 
Wow, your image quality is way better than what I've been getting. Are you on WiFi, 3G, Edge...?

I get pretty boxy looking images with full bars of 3G.
 
This works great for me. I watched the game last night on my iPod Touch. I had to get the location to work first by resetting it in general settings. But after that spot on. Really great.
 
Dharris, how did you reset the location in setting? I was unable to watch last nights game even though I was not in a blackout location. I have both 3.0 and app version 1.20, thanks in advance.

not hapening any time this year they have a exclusive deal with sprint and the deal is 5 years but i belive the deal is up in 2010
 
Does the live streaming only work for people living in the USA? (subject, obviously to local blackouts).

I live in the UK, and cannot get much further away from any blackout area, but I don't seem to be able to watch any live video, only the highlight clips.

If I try and watch a live feed, it simply says that the broadcasters required blackout checks cannot be performed.

Would love to have this superb new feature, but is anyone else in the UK (or Europe) having the same problem, and if so, is there a fix?

Go into Settings and go to General. Flick Location Services off, leave and go back, then flip it back on. It worked immediately.

I am also in the UK and am having the same problem. I emailed MLB and got the following response:

Thank you for the note. We are planning to release an update to At Bat 2009 early next week that will address an issue that is preventing some postal codes from resolving properly in the application and as a result denying access to the live video feed. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks for getting back to me, but it is still giving me a location error. I guess I will email MLB.
