Managed to watch a live game for the first time yesterday (was having trouble with the blackout location check, but that was fixed in the last update).

To be honest, I was not at all impressed with the video quality. It was blocky, blurred and basically pretty poor quality.

I was on an 8mb wifi connection, so no problem with the speed, and if I play the highlight clips, they all look perfect. Crisp and clear, so why would the live stream look so poor, especially over wifi?

Anyone else having issues with picture quality of the live streamed games (wifi or 3G).

By the way, I live in the UK, if that makes a difference to the stream quality.

Kevin.

Same here man. I was disappointed at the quality of the video stream. I have a 3G and I was wondering if it was any better with a 3GS.

However, I am a Red Sox fan and as a kid, I spent many many a summer day listening to the Red Sox on the radio. Heck, from what I remember, it seemed like everybody in the city was always listening to the game. Right now I am Portland, Oregon so for 10 bucks I get to listen to the WRKO feed of the Sox as I am driving or walking around town. For me that alone is worth the 10 bucks.

Whenever I've watched one of the streaming games over WiFi, I've always had PERFECT crystal clear streaming quality.

It's not great over 3G, but over WiFi, it's like watching a game in HD.

I have the 3GS, but I got the same results with the one game I tried on the 3G before I sold it.

I had just the opposite problem. I'm now blacked out of an area (7 hours from my house) that I wasn't blacked out from before. My cable company has been blacking me out of those games on my MLB Extra Innings package all along, but MLB At Bat was letting me in. Good while it lasted :) Just stinks that my Sox play the Orioles 19 games (all blacked out) and this year faced the Nationals and Braves for several games (all blacked out). Ugh!

I wish that those of us who have MLB Extra Innings could watch all of the games, instead of just 2.

Although, I believe I heard they're bringing streaming of all games to everybody after the All Star Break. I hope that's true.

JBaker, here's the part of the article on MLB.com regarding MLB At-Bat.

Shortly after the launch of live games, it is expected that MLB.com will roll out the entire slate of out-of-market games currently offered through its premier live streaming video product, MLB.TV Premium, as part of MLB.com At Bat 2009. It is about to become a new way of life, and it will be offered throughout this postseason.

"It's hard to express how cool the new streaming technology really is," said Chad Evans, mobile product manager at MLB Advanced Media. "Being able to watch a live game on your phone for the first time -- I think everyone here's really excited about that.

This should give you some hope:D
