I still dont understand these guys...how on earth do you release an app on the Apple App store WORLDWIDE and you dont anticipate demand...first they bit*h about apple taking forever..then when then finally approve its a huge failure. I will wait for them to work this out, but what a stumble out of the gate...i havent been able to connect for more than 5 min ONCE.

Honestly this app should be removed with immediate effect. This is take an piss out of people who paid. I know that is not much for the app but are we participating in some beta release here or what. Their servers down all the time and they say that still will be more testing etc. ITS A JOKE.
I am really surprised that Apple haven't pulled that app because this is reflects somehow on Apple quality and damage their image. Apple please, if not working as intended just remove it and give lesson for those kids who call themselves developers.

Where can you send a report to Apple about this? I don't see it in iTunes where you can report a bad "paid" application that simply does not work.

I have not been able to connect, ever. I got it when it first went up. This is the last time I pay for an instant messenger.

Found iTunes Page to Report an application

You can go here. The link is on this question.

http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/games/

"I purchased an application from the App Store that does not function as expected.
Within iTunes, locate the item in your Purchase History and click on the Report a Problem link. Select the appropriate problem symptom, add comments, and click Submit. You may be directed to the developer's website for support information."

I had this on my jailbroke phone for several months and could never get it to work. I'd try every few weeks - no success. I'll wait till things are flawless.

This is getting slightly ridiculous. I was fairly patient at first, but come on. I can never log on or anything. They really need to get their act together. How could they not know of a huge server load? It's a freakin' IM app, of course people are going to be all over it.

So I did. And I hope more people will do the same thing. I really would like to see those clowns/kids to be shut down...for ever. My private time who I spent with this useless app is more valuable than $3. But I would fell better to see them totally crushed by their incompetence.

It is unfortunate.

These guys are over their heads. Clearly they have no idea how to run servers, and they have not hired anyone to do it for them. There is very little chance they get a handle on this any time soon.

I tend to agree, but I have no buyers remorse, they can keep the 70% of my $3 that Apple gives them. I wish there were more people like them, trying to make ambitious apps with great UI's.

They posted a wanted ad on their site yesterday for someone to run their servers, stating that they would be compensated, so hopefully they get something worked out soon.

It's easy to see that their interface, even though the app isn't working half the time, is MUCH better than any other IM app that's been developed thus far. Hopefully one day they get all the server issues straightened around. At the very least, this app should be great once push is added in less than a month.

I fail to see why people are working themselves into a blind rage over this. Chill out, it's not the end of the world.

I'm curious, when you use the SMS capabilities of the Mobile chat does it allow you to text back and forth through Mobile chat? in other words if you send a text through mobile chat would you receive the response through that app or would the response go to the regular iPhone SMS app?

MobileChat doesn't do anything special with the SMS capabilities it is built in to the AIM service and as such they are a bit misleading with the way they advertise that feature... So if you SMS someone from your AIM account it allows them to respond via text back to your AIM account in whatever chat client you are using at the time.

The email notifications in MobileChat will be different once they enable them as they will work for all services and I believe they will just be a notification that you have a new IM so if you use Push email you could have a quasi solution for always on IM with immediate notification of messages.

However both MobileMe and MobileChat are yet to be anywhere near reliable...

Anyway. AIM in MobileChat simply doesn't work for me. MobileChat tells me that I've been connecting too often. I've reinstalled the application, I've removed and again added my account several times; nothing will fix it. Incidentally, I can login to my account using any other client no matter how many times I get that message in MobileChat. Finally, that message will sometimes show up three times in a row and then the whole visual UI breaks. Basically, I'm beginning to be impatient considering this was supposed to replace a free application that currently... get this... works.

oh cool, so has anyone used this capability much or is it kind of a pain to use regularly for text messages? I'm asking because I wouldn't mind knocking off my unlimited text plan and use this app instead, maybe I'm being to ambitious.

I'm not angry, I already applied for my refund. Beejive and AIM work just fine and are free.

It's a pain as the texts get sent from some random number with your AIM alias at the beginning and some other text, if I ever get one I just log on to a chat client to reply. Actually come to think of it I've only gotten them from Yahoo IM and not AIM but I assume they function similarly.

They're not running servers just using them.

I'm pretty sure they would be using dedicated servers and most dedicated servers aren't managed by the provider and if they are it costs big $$$ so I would say they are also responsible for the management of their dedicated servers.

I hope they will be "pushed away" by other much better app by then, which I guess will be anytime soon.
